My family of four, including two teenagers, stayed at this apartment for 8 nights while we toured Rome. Our son chose this apartment for its proximity to the Colosseum. He studied Latin in high school, and was very interested in visiting the many ancient historical sites he had learned about in school. This was the perfect location for our family because it was less than a 5 min walk to the Colosseum, Forum, and Palatine Hill. There is also a metro stop at the Colosseum, and we primarily used the metro to travel to other places within Rome. It was very convenient. I highly recommend purchasing the "Roma Pass" which Marco told us about. This gave us unlimited metro and bus access for three days, and also free entry to a selection of the major tourist attractions. It was especially useful for bypassing the long lines for purchasing tickets at the Colosseum and Forum. The apartment was clean and in what seemed to be a very safe location. There were a number of restaurants nearby, though we primarily ate breakfast at a coffee shop around the corner and took our meals elsewhere in the city. Marco picked us up at the airport for a very reasonable price, and he also met us at 5am on Sunday morning to take us back to the airport for our early morning flight. He is very organized, easy to communicate with, and punctual. I have recommended this apartment to our friends. You won't regret staying here.Did you find this review helpful? I really enjoyed my stay here. Marco was very friendly, knowledgable and helpful indeed, and spoke excellent English. This is a very centrally located flat in a good area. You literally walk 50 paces out of the door and you are facing the Colosseum. From there you can either walk, get a cab, bus, or the very easy to use metro to anywhere in Rome in minutes. I know the area reasonable well having stayed there several times. There are a number of good restaurants in the immediate vicinity (I like the cheap Pizzeria Luzzi, which is buzzy and fun and good for basics like pizza) and there is a shop very close to the flat where you can get all the basics you need. The flat is clean, quite charming and reasonably well-equipped. The only downside with the flat is the bar across the street which can generate some street noise. I am a very heavy sleeper so it did not bother me, but it might some people. But, overall very much recommended.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We spent 4 nights in this lovely apartment, ideally located to visit so many of Rome's wonderful attractions on foot. The apartment was spotless and well equipped. It also felt very secure. Marco was extremely attentive, suggesting good restaurants in the local vicinity for all budgets. He also speaks excellent English. All in all, we can't recommend this apartment and owner highly enough!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

The moment we set foot into the apartment, we knew we made a great decision to stay thanks to Marco and his charming family. They greeted us the day we arrived and showed us tips about traveling around Rome and beyond as well as suggesting the different restaurants in the surrounding area. The nearest grocery store is only a block away and the prices are very affordable. We definitely took advantage of the kitchen. The bar in front of the apartment should not be a noise concern at all. The neighborhood is very safe and we did not experience any danger despite coming home about 11pm every night from our day's adventures. The apartment is about two mins away from the wondrous Coliseum. It is a pleasure walking past its beauty every day on our way to the Metro and bus stops (which are located no more than 8-10 mins). We were able to arrange three beds (two in the double room) to hold our family of four. We did not feel cramped at all. There was plenty of space to place our luggage and belongings. Given the price of the two bedrooms and the excellent location, I doubt anyone could find a better deal in Rome! Thanks Marco!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

We visited Italy for a couple of weeks during April and May 2012. I did all my planning beforehand based on trip and accommodation reviews from different forums. After searching for an apartment within walking distance from the Coliseum, I decided on “Il nido al Colosseo”, a ground floor flat situated VERY close to the Coliseum. What a welcome surprise! Marco (the owner) is an amazing person to deal with, he welcomed us with sms’s and emails days before arrival and he kept in contact until we finally met. From the moment we walked into the charming, spacious apartment, we felt welcomed and at home. The flat consists of a large dining/living room area with a small but very well equipped kitchen and dinette and bathroom with shower and washing machine. It has two spacious bedrooms, of which one can be converted to a lounge area if needed. The thing about this flat is that everything is thoroughly thought through. The linen is brilliant white and spotlessly clean, the kitchen (and fridge) is equipped with enough condiments and even the bathroom is stocked with necessities that might be needed in an emergency, even detergent for the washing machine. Marco, the owner is friendly and welcoming, and the flat is situated perfectly within walking distances to the bus and train stations. There are shops, restaurants, bars and other stores around the corner. Marco gave us lists with excellent detailed recommendations, maps and up-to-date information on everything going on in the city and ideas we never thought about. He left us with the keys and we only saw him again on the day we left. On our last day, Marco said we could leave our luggage in the apartment so we could explore for “old times sake” whilst he would then clean the place. On our arrival back at the apartment, we found it turned totally upside down. To our surprise, we realised that he is cleaning literally EVERYTHING. I have been hiding souvenirs from home in every place we have stayed. In Marco’s apartment, he found it even though I thought I have hidden it very well! We are experienced travellers - it felt like we were staying at a friends place, and will definitely stay there again.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

We were very happy with this flat for our family of four. It's in a great location for seeing Rome. It's a stone's throw from the Colosseum, the Metro, and many bus lines, and a very reasonable walk to the area of the Trevi Fountain and many other sites. Marco has put together lists with excellent recommendations of restaurants, gelateria, and other services in the area, and we found them to be very useful. There is some street noise from the nearby pub and occasionally loud music etc. from adjoining apartments, but once we got over the jet lag we slept through it fairly well. The beds are comfortable, as is the shower. The property was clean, and Marco's friend Ricardo was friendly and helpful in checking us in and out.Did you find this review helpful? The apartment is great! Very nice, cleam, quiet, charming, well furnished and very well located. Too near from the Colosseum and placed in a very nice neighborhood, plenty of pizzerias and trattorias. We were a couple with two sons (teenagers) with many luggage and the space was very well. The apartment deco is tasteful and the wi-fi connection is so fast. The apartment is as it shown on the page, very nice. Another point to note is the owner. Marco is an amazing person to deal with, very friendly. He even offered to take us to the airport and he gave us a complete information about Rome and the nice neighborhood (Celio) where the apartment is. After walking all day exploring the wonders of Rome, we took advantage to eat in one of the many trattorias and pizzeria located in the area. Thanks Marco for the excellent stay in your apartment that made our vacations more enjoyable. Nido at Colosseum is a place to recommend. My friends and I spent 5 great days in Rome. The eternal city has a lot of things to offer, so the 5 days were not nearly enough, but since this lovely apartment has a terrific location, we managed to see all the main sites and experience the atmosphere of the city. The apartment is nicely decorated and has all the equipment that you need during your city trip. A huge thanks to our host who made our stay even more pleasant. We would like to come again! This ground floor apartment is situated in an excellent location, just 5 minutes walk from the Colosseum so that you can see it in its splendour every day of your trip. The neighbourhood has bars, cafes and a supermarket with the Colosseo Metro station, bus stops and the hop-on-hop-off buses only 5-10 minutes walk away. We were a party of 4 adults, so asked for the extra bed in the second room and there was plenty of space for all of us in the apartment; there may not be a sitting room but that doesn't matter as there is a breakfast bar with stools and a dining table for 4. Everything was very clean and it was useful to have plenty of towels included and some basic food items, including tea, coffee and milk. Before we booked, Marco was very prompt with his replies to our enquiries and helpfully provided instructions on travelling from the airport to the apartment. He was there to meet us at the apartment to show us its facilites and give us plenty of information about the area, places to eat, buses and metro routes. He also let us leave our luggage in the apartment on the last day while we finished sightseeing. The only downside, which has been mentioned before, is that the bedrooms are opposite a pub, so on summer evenings the noise can be heard in the apartment, however after all the walking around Rome it didn't stop us sleeping.Did you find this review helpful?
