Owner's Profile
Owner Description
Year Purchased: 1994
My name is Kathy McGregor and I am a Colorado native. I have been fortunate enough to travel to 14 other countries but always end up back in Colorado because of its magnificent beauty and my love of the outdoors which Colorado is famous for. My late husband & I purchased our property in 1994. We weren't looking for 100 acres, but absolutely fell in love with this land. We knew as soon as we saw it, that it was what we had been looking for for the last 2 years. There are canyons to hike, mountains to climb, deer, elk, bear, mountain lions, bobcats, eagles, hawks, blue jays, tiny mountain blue birds....wildlife abounds, a small creek to enjoy, many beautiful wild flowers, trees & scrub oak all combining together to make a magical place. We built our retirement, dream home in 1997 along with the help of my brother, Mom & Dad. Many hours of love, happiness & fun when into each and every room and you can feel the warmth & love as you walk into the home. As always, life changes and I chose not to live in the home by myself. I feel very fortunate to have this incredible land and home and wanted to share it with others. So in 2004, I turned it into a vacation home allowing others to enjoy the Colorado mountains while staying in a beautiful home. I know you, too, will enjoy it as much as I and others have.
Why the Owner Chose Cripple Creek
My property and home are centrally located. You can be in Denver in less than 2 hours, Colorado Springs and Canon City in approximately an hour.

Kathy, Thank you for letting us spend the holidays in your home. It is truly beatiful! The area around the house was a gorgeous winter wonderland! It snowed the entire day on Christmas day and it was like something out of a movie. This was a great place for our children to experience snow for the first time! Thanks so much! Kathy, Your house is beautiful! We especially liked the Indian decor and your Christmas touch all around really put us in the Christmas spirit. We watered the Poinsettas and they perked up nicely. The views were breath-taking from any window in the house. We went out one morning to feed the birds and they ate right from our hands! We had a great time and hope to return in the spring or summer to enjoy a different season. Thank you, Midge & Dick Ross, Mark

Kathy, Thank you for providing such a cozy place to go to after a day out traversing the beautiful grounds outside. We were lucky to spot plenty of deer and get to know some very friendly birds. We found a few bones outside already well worn. Once more, thank you very much! Elo

Kathy, Well, where to begin?....for starters, we fished Eleven Mile, Taryall, and the canyon area of the North Platte, with not much luck, due to the heat, but it was fun none the less. We also went to dig fossils, some of us even found insect fossils, drove to the Taryall mountains to search out Topaz but got rained out there and also hunted for some famous Blue Aggate near Canon City, which turned into an adventuresome 3-hour drive home, needless to say, a forest service map would have come in handy. We also enjoyed finding many beautiful wild flowers and trees around here, including a California Poppy of which my Dad replied, "I don't believe it!" I found an arrowhead on the first day, chipped out of chert and partially broken, if I told you I found it in your driveway, would you believe me! We had a great time exploring the canyon as well, someone said they swear they heard a mountain lion one morning, we saw fresh tracks too. Also we enjoyed 2 VERY LARGE thunder storms up here, where the lightning was spectacular! You have a very nice house, but the land and the setting was most enjoyable. Thanks for everything. Take care. The Weiser Family. ps: We also saw deer, fox , humming birds, the Royal Gorge, gambled in Cripple Creek and watched movies!

Kathy, What a lovely retreat! Beautiful decor and thoughtful extras made us feel very comfortable here. We were able to get a lot done in the solitude, including a new song. We had fun climbing the mountain, but I think we would do better in summer. What a beautiful area. Thanks so much. Kristi & Chris Wilson, Colorado Springs p.s. We'll be back

Kathy, What a beautiful winter wonderland - I had no idea your home would be so lovely, and the views are indescribable! We were so pleased that the house was so well equipped with cooking utensils, spices and all of the comforts of home. This was my birthday trip and your goodies, home, and hospitality were very much appreciated. Thanks so much for a very rememberable vacation. Kathy, Thank you for helping make this the best vacation we ever had. The house was great and we really appreciated all the little extras. We all loved the wildlife! In the week we spent here, we saw hundreds of deer, a fox, a bear, a herd of elk, and more birds than you could count. Standing out your back door listening to elk bugeling is something none of us will forget. The art work in your house is awesome. We collect SW art ourselves and were very impressed by your collection. Don, Donna & Nathan Melbourne, FL

Kathy, We enjoyed this wonderful scenic area. Your home is a great place to relax and get away from it all. There is something nice at each time of day to view. We loved the birds and deer and the horses. We also saw a fair amount of sights and activities. We even drove up to Denver for a Cub's game. Dan & Pat McLaughlin Bridget, MaryKate, Dan & Matt

Kathy - Thank you for letting us spend the week in your house. It is beautiful! The pictures on the net don't do justice of how nice your home is and of the amazing views. We loved getting up and seeing the deer & Bunnies at the window. The mountain view was a nice change from the city life we live in. My daughter got to ride a pony!!! She loved it! We all did!
