This is a wonderful villa - I would go back next week if I could. I saw my first painted bunting hopping around in the parking lot right in front of the villa - not one bit shy. What a treat! I'm not a "birder" per se, but I enjoy all wildlife and this little guy was stunning.I spent several wonderful hours wading in the Edisto river behind the villa. The Edisto is so close to the Atlantic Ocean, you can almost spit on it and the waves were just big enough to be fun without knocking you over. And the dolphins were so close, it makes you think you can just reach out and touch them! All in all, a totally wonderful week. I'd recommend this property to anyone.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We have stayed here for a week in Spring several years..... usually in April. This time we came in the beginning of March. Remember the term "March Winds".... We not only had the winds but also freezing temps. Didn't make for beach weather...but, it really didn't[ seem to matter that much to us. We were nice and cozy sitting on the sofa in the living room looking out at the white caps in the inlet. There are two new (since our last visit) recliners in the living room which are very comfortable and a welcome addition to the sofa. A wonderful place to just "chill" regardless of the weather outside. Our dog loved it as they always do. Being Sheltie's, they carry their fur coat w/ them and don't mind the cold and wind.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

This was our 2nd stay at this Condo, and it was just as special this time as it was 2 years ago. It is exactly as presented, very comfortable, feels just like home to us, and is the most peaceful, beautiful, and comfortable place ever. This condo is very well maintained, clean, with everything in working order, including modern updates. We have recommended this property to others, with some interested family members. Janet is very friendly, easy to work with, and willing to provide answers to anything you may need, with a timely response. The location is perfect for a quiet, peaceful, beautiful getaway, with amenities to keep you entertained without leaving the island. Should you want more, Charleston, and surrounding areas, are right down the road with an abundance of historical experiences, sightseeing, entertainment, eco-tourism, and amazing dining opportunities. We brought our bikes with us this trip, and rode for miles each day. We mostly stayed on the island this time riding bikes, taking long walks on the beach, enjoying our own food, and the local restaurants, including those at Freshfield's Village. We thoroughly enjoyed the wildlife around the island, friendly deer all around us, and the dolphins at play. We especially enjoyed the most amazing sunset every evening. It was hard to leave when our week was up, but we sure look forward to returning again!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We stayed in the condo from 9-1-12 to 9-8-12. Everything was exactly as described on VRBO, actually it was even better!! The place was very clean, had everything you needed and the view was spectacular!! Seabrook Exclusives also did a great job with the check in and out.....very easy process and they were all very nice and were willing to answer any questions we had. The owners were great to work with and called and emailed me if I had questions about anything. They also gave us a list of their favorite places to eat and the name of the rental company that they rent kayaks from. I was amazed at all the wildlife that is around! We saw a grey fox sitting on a chair at the Golf club and got a picture of her.....we couldn't believe it! I got lots of great videos of the dolphins both at the point near the condo and also at beach entrance #1...where we saw them herd fish and eat on the shore....it was so cool! My husband and I are huge nature lovers so we really enjoyed all the wildlife! The amenity cards were wonderful! We sat out by the pool and also used the umbrellas and chairs that were there as well. They had outside showers which were great and the restroom/locker areas were very clean and well maintained. We ate at the Pelican's Nest twice...we loved that it was outside and right beside the ocean and the food both times was amazing. They had the best pizza, fried shrimp and quesadillas that I have ever had! We had intentions of eating out at a few of the places the owners recommended but just couldn't pull ourselves away from this place...it was just so relaxing! We brought our own bikes down there and we rode a total of 62 miles with 32 of those being in one day! :) We rode from the condo all the way to the Ocean Course in Kiawah! Even though 32 miles sound like a lot…it is very easy since we were on paved bike trails almost all of the way, that were pretty flat and very well maintained. We rode all over Seabrook checking out the sights and rode up to the shops in Kiawah several times to have some ice cream! This was the best vacation we have been on in the seven years we have been married and that includes our honeymoon! Too bad we didn't know about this place then! The brochures are right, Seabrook Island is the best kept secret! Janet, once again, thank you so much for allowing us to stay in your wonderful place!!! We will definitely be back and hopefully, it will be soon!!! :)Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway.

We just returned from a 1 week stay at this amazing condo and our vacation could not have been any better... We loved Seabrook Island and we loved this condo. From the very beginning we fell for the beautiful decor and location, but ultimately chose this rental due to the many (over 60) positive reviews and let me say that we found it to be even better than expected. The rental process was straightforward, and correspondence with Janet (owner) and Seabrook Exclusives was very easy. We arrived at the amenities office and experienced a very smooth check-in with no surprises. The price of this rental includes Seabrook Island amenity cards, which are not included with some of the other rental units found on the Internet as some of our fellow travelers were finding out upon check-in. Parking is just steps from the condo, which eased the task of unloading the suitcases and groceries from the car. Once you enter the condo, you will notice the lovely decor and how well cared for it is, then you will be blown away by the amazing ocean/beach views and be drawn out to the covered deck (only 1st floor units appear to be covered and allowed for cool enjoyable use throughout the day). We appreciated the fact that the owner provided beach chairs, a beach umbrella, boogie boards and sand toys that made our afternoons on the sand even more delightful. The Beach Club is great, it offers two wonderful pools, a kids club, an arcade and nightly family friendly activities (bonfire w/ s'mores and movie night). We couldn't believe all the wildlife on the island, we saw squirrel, bunnies, armadillo, deer and dolphin. We were told that the absolute must see of the island occurred near beach entrance/path #1 and that this was one of only a few places that it was known to occur.. dolphins feeding onshore! The dolphin surround the fish and push them up on shore about 1-2 hours prior to low tide and then come partially up on the sand to feed.. It was AMAZING !! Freshfields Village is conveniently located near the entrance to Seabrook and provides an inviting seaside village experience with shops, dining, concerts on the green, movies on the green and a weekly farmer's market. Newton Farms took care of all our grocery needs and we enjoyed Vincent's Soda Fountain and the Marble Slab Creamery for after dinner treats. The Pelican's Nest at the Beach Club provided a great meal at an oceanside table. The many historic sites in and around Charleston are only 30-40 minutes away.Did you find this review helpful? My family and I just got home from our wonderful vacation, and we are already planning our next visit! This condo is in a great location (the views were breathtaking), it is clean and well-kept, and has nice decor. One of our favorite parts of vacation was how many dolphins we were able to see! We stayed here for a week, and we were able to spot at least two dolphins every day. The island has two great shopping and dining areas at Freshfields Village and Bohickett Marina. The pool at the beach club was only a short walk from the condo too. It was such a pleasure and great experience to rent from someone as nice and helpful as Janet. She was open and available to answer some questions that we had, and she did so with a positive, caring nature. We will definitely return to Seabrook Island and rent from her again!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

The villa is in an excellent location - even though it is a 1st floor apartment, the sea view is great, and it is a very short walk to the beach. And if you go down to the point (towards the ocean) and go around the pool/complex, the north beach is fantastic - 2-3 miles of flat beautiful sand. The tropical storm brought in loads of small jellyfish (after a couple of days they disappeared) and rows of dead marsh-grass, but that is just nature at work. Villa is fine, clean and everything worked as it should. We found The Fat Hen french restaurant about 12 miles away on Rt 700 - very good food and a fun place with great service also. A very enjoyable vacation!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway.

Our third year back... so, obviously we find it the perfect vacation spot. After 3 years, I think we have decided our favorite thing is the porch. Being a 1st floor unit, the porch always shaded... Making it much more usable than the porch on a upstairs unit would be. The porch has high quality furnishings (4 chairs and a table) further enhancing dining or some drinks while watch the marvelous sunsets. Our dogs like to the porch also... they stick their heads through the slats on the railing and take in all of the salt water scents, watch the birds (and deer), etc. The beach is always a treat too. The foot wash on the board walk to the beach is really appreciated... both for sandy feet and paws. We enjoyed using the umbrella provided... you have done a wonderful job of equipping the place w/ just about everything needed to make a great place to stay. I am sure we will try to be back next year again.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Thank you for having your wonderful condo available for us to rent. We travel with our dog and it was great to be able to take her there and to let her run on the beach in the "dogs off leash" area. She (and we) met some nice friends. Your condo is lovely and we spent much time on the deck. What a great place! The web site descriptions and pictures of the condo, facilities and sunsets are accurate and exactly what we experienced. The condo was well furnished and maintained. It had everything you could possibly need and more. The king bed slept great and the nights were quiet. The kitchen was well stocked. We ate a number of meals on the patio taking in the gorgeous sunsets. We golfed on the mainland at Shadowmoss Plantation and Patriots Point at very reasonable rates. The rental experience with the owners and the management company was easy and painless. Thank you very much. We will be back.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Lots of great things to say about rental property and Seabrook Island - I took my golden retreiver, Brewski, and he was welcomed by several dog friends as well on island. The walks along the beach are enjoyable and the sunsets over the bay are spectacular night after night! Watch for the dolphins and the shrimp boats - a daily occurrence! We enjoyed a 10-day visit to Charleston, Seabrook Island, Kiawah Island, and Savannah, using Pelican Watch as our base. The villa was clean and fully equipped with many things to do no matter what the weather. The recommended restaurants were outstanding and the area residents very hospitable, friendly, and helpful. The covered deck was appreciated because it was warm enough to sit out in the rain! We enjoyed the sunsets (as promised), dolphins, deer roaming on the dunes, shrimp boats, sail boats, beautiful golf courses, and pet friendly atmosphere at the villa. Freshfields Village was a good place to stroll and they happened to be having their fall artfair and store sales. Maxwell's Market was the perfect place to buy whatever we needed to take back to the condo to enjoy. The only thing we missed was an outdoor grill, but the wonderful restaurants made up for it! Magnolia Gardens and the Tea Plantation/Irvin Vineyards were both worth the short trip. Angel Oak is a must see and close to Seabrook Island. Lots to do here, or snuggle up with a book from the basket of books in the villa, whatever your pleasure.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My husband & I wanted a place near the ocean that wasn't commercialized so that we could escape the very hectic world we live in for a few days. This location was perfect. There were deer on the dunes grazing, dolphins playing, shrimping and fishing boats going by, and such amazing sunsets. It was so quiet and everyone there was very respectful of each other. We drove into Charleston every other day to take in the historic sites which took about 40-45 minutes each way. I would definitely go back. The only recommendation I would make is that each of the villa numbers be lit up in the evening. The numbers cannot be seen after dark so I had a difficult time knowing which building to park at. Until we were familiar with the facility I had to get out of the car and walk up to the building in order to see which one we were staying in. Not a big deal but it would definitely be an improvement to the complex.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children.

What a fabulous holiday - 3 weeks of pure bliss. After arriving at the same time as Irene and a slight risk of evacuation which ended in just securing the patio furniture, the rest was great. I was in Seabrook Island 20 years ago but my Belgian husband had never been and has fallen in love with the resort. I have been to several places in the States as well as in Europe and Seabrook has maintained it's wonderful features and beautiful natural landscape. We had only one real peeve and that is the prices at the Beach Club which are way OTT for very very average food..... So, we cooked at home or went out to Bohicket or somewhere else. The apartment is very tastefully furnished and extremely well equipped.. We added a couple of beach towels, a nice beach chair and parasol as they are a bit difficult to take on a frlight back to Europe. Thank you for making our holiday most enjoyable and I would fully recommendf the property to any couple looking for a calm and relaxing holiday. We certainly hope to be back ! A corner of paradise........Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We enjoyed our stay -- especially the dramatic sunsets each evening. With a great view to the west, you can watch the sun go down and the moon follow in its arc across the night sky. Pelicans and dolphins are silhouetted against the intense pinks, oranges, and yellows and all is quiet and peaceful on the beach. The Seabrook community itself is gorgeous. The villa's kitchen is well-outiftted and the starter supplies and towels are generous. The king bed was very comfortable, and it was nice to have 2 full baths so we could shower and get ready at the same time. We also took advantage of the DVD and book selections. For wildlife viewing, visit ACE Basin National Wildlife Refuge (we saw 12 juvenile alligators basking together!), on the way to Edisto Beach. We liked Folly Beach a lot for walking and shelling. For a nearby dinner, try La Tela, an upscale Italian restaurant in Freshfields Village -- super pizza from their wood-fired oven.Recommended for: Age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway.

This is the third year that I have stayed at the Pelican Watch Villa and continue to be amazed by the natural beauty of this area! I had a very peaceful and restful stay, enjoying the passing shrimp boats, dolphins, pelicans, and occasional bald eagle. I look forward to my time on Seabrook each fall. Thank you, Janet, for sharing your little piece of paradise!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, girls getaway, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

This is the most peaceful trip my husband and I have ever taken. We have never experienced such peace, quiet, serenity and natural beauty. It was perfect and just what we were looking for. We wanted total relaxation and comfort, and we got it. All of the pictures and descriptions are completely accurate, and I found the owner to be a pleasure to work with. It is a well maintained, clean, neat, up-to-date, fully stocked, and very comfortable condo. We enjoyed the beautiful drive out to Seabrook and the surrounding area. We enjoyed sampling a variety of restaurants, but our favorite was The Wild Olive, Italian Restaurant. Although my favorite location was right on the porch of the Condo. I spent most of my time there reading and relaxing, and it was a great spot to have coffee and breakfast in the morning, then dinner during the glorious sunset. I thoroughly enjoyed many long walks on the beach and wish we had brought our bikes along. Seabrook Island looks interesting to explore by bike. There are endless possibilities on and off the Island if you need to keep busy, and there's plenty of natural raw beauty, peace and quiet if you don't. We had a great time and we will definitely return.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

This condo is clean, comfortable, and has a great view of the beach and water. Seabrook is a wonderful place to visit if you are wanting a vacation that is relaxing, stress-free, and quiet. I would recommend renting bicycles to help get a more intimate experience of Seabrook. There are many streets to investigate. You are able to see views of the marsh and ocean at a slower pace and you can ride on the beach, too. Freshfields Farms provides any necessary supplies for your stay and is convenient, close, and blends in nicely with the island environment. The condo is just as the owners described. Yes, the pictures on the website are accurate. All the kitchen appliances are new and the cupboards are well stocked with cooking utensils. There are some supplies (cleaners, etc.) left by previous renters for the next guests. The furniture on the deck is comfortable. I would suggest planning a couple of dinners on the deck at sunset to take advantage of the view. Charleston is only a 45 minuite drive, but why leave the area? Angle Oak is up the highway. A Charleston Tea Plantation tour is available next door on Wadmalaw Island plus The Ervin Winery, home of Firefly Vodka, is right down the road. Seabrook Island and the comforts of this condo provided an exception vacation that can only be awarded a five-star "excellent" rating. I am already looking forward to our next visit.Recommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Seabrook island is an amazingly relaxing and laid back island. The amenitites on the island are exceptional. The pools are new and the oceanfront Pelican Watch Restaurant is really very nice and affordable. Our unit was well stocked and comfortable for the 3 of us and our dog. The only suggestion I would make would be to replace the sofa bed mattress which was too uncomfortable for anyone to sleep on. No problem though, we simply folded it back up and my son slept on the sofa. The views are amazing with dolphins swimming up and down the beach continuously and pelicans constantly swooping down to the ocean's surface to obtain their dinner within swimming reach of us in the water. We also saw a a large fin some 150 yds off the beach one afternoon which we knew was not a dolphin because it never surfaced, but it never came in close anywhere to the beach either. We suspected it to be a shark but really don't know for sure. Still it wasn't enough to get us out of the water since it was so far away and swimming outward to the open sea. The weather was extremely hot averaging 98-100 everday and the water temp was reported to be 90 degrees. I've been to many different beaches and this was w/o a doubt the warmest and calmest water I have ever experienced. If you're looking for large waves to surf or boogie board then this isn't the place for you. All in all it was a good getaway, however if your looking for alot to do outside of the beach and pools then Seabrook probably isn't for you. On the other hand, if your looking for a relaxing atmosphere with lots of wildlife, warm and extremely calm waters, then this is the place for you. Charleston is also a mere 35 minute drive nearby for nightlife, shopping and sightseeing. I highly recommend the aquarium.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: A Note from the Owners: While we are pleased that this renter enjoyed our villa, two of his comments surprised us. Our sofa bed is barely 2 yrs old and was purchased specifically for the quality of its mattress. As a matter of fact, we found it quite comfortable ourselves just a month ago, sleeping on it for a week so our daughter and her young son could use our bedroom. Of course, no sofa bed has the same feel as a regular bed mattress so perhaps the guest had not experienced this type of mattress before. Also, we would have to take exception to the statement that there isn’t a lot to do on the island outside of the beach and pools. We find quite a bit to do on the island – there is the fitness center, nature trails, golf, tennis, kayaking, fishing, crabbing, horseback riding, boating, basketball, biking, game room, etc. No matter how long we stay we never have enough time to do everything there is! Just got back from a wonderful week at Seabrook Island! We will be coming back to this condo! It was so clean and nicely decorated. You really thought about what people want/need on vacation. The books, movies and games were nice, gave the kids something to do once the sun went down. The kitchen had everything you need as far as pots, pans, and utensils. We had the best week and can't wait to visit again!!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Everything was wonderful... Beach was uncrowded... as I guess from others comments, it usually is. Our two Shelties loved running and playing on the wide open beach (very few other beach goers) ... We were fortunate to be there with low tide in the middle of the day which helped. There is a "foot wash" on the "board walk running to along the dunes which was much appreciated... it worked well for the dogs as well. We didn't expect the unit to be as well "stocked" as it turned out to be... books, dvds, kitchen "stuff". We had such good breeze and moderate temperatures... we had no "sand gnats" or other bugs and could keep the sliding door to the porch open most of the time. The dogs loved the going out onto the porch and sniffing all of the salt water scents being carried by the breeze.. It really was a perfect time and place to be... and it was obvious the owners wanted it to be that way. Oh yes... the sunsets... viewed from the privacy of the porch... with appropriate beverages... was perhaps the highlight... quiet... supremely beautiful.... and a fitting end to the day.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway.

What a wonderful spot. My husband and I celebrated our 25th anniversary in this very quite, comfortable condo with fabulous views of the water. And the beach is only steps away. The Red Sky restaurant at the entrance of the community was yummy!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

My fiance and I had an amazing time at your condo during our stay in October. We actually got engaged on our first walk on the beach on our first afternoon! If we had to pick one thing as our favorite from the trip, it would be the privacy. I don't know where else you can go and sit on the beach for hours and see so few others. We had amazing sunsets, quiet neighbors, multiple porpoise sightings, a buck on the sand dune one night, great food and an absolutely wonderful time. Thanks for the opportunity to experience this special place. We will be back! Dave and AliciaDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

We stayed at the same facility 17 years ago, when I was pregnant with our now 16 year old son. It was the most relaxing and enjoyable vacation we had ever been on then, and it was just the same this time. Great place! Our son was very with impressed with the unit and the whole island. We will be back!Owner response: We are so happy to own property on an island that is constantly being well maintained and upgraded so it always feels brand new. Our new restaurants, facilities and indoor pool are just spectacular!

Hi Janet, We really enjoyed staying in your condo at Pelican Watch. I could not believe how peacful and quiet it was, it was absolutly perfect. I have reccomended your place to my friends and I really hope we get a chance to stay there again, I did not want to leave. We were not sure where the best place to get kayaks was from so we ended up getting a fishing boat from the marina just outside Seabrook village which was really great. Thanks again you are very lucky to have such a great place.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0
