Dunnellon cabin description
Uncork your spirit & indulge in the phenomenal rainbow river on a property with an ancient phosphate mine & whimsical past.
This wonderful old Florida cabin, circa 1940, celebrates the charm of the era in a very romantic & cozy setting. The open 600 sf layout of this cabin is very comfortable and perfect for a couple. The screened porch looks out over the picturesque Rainbow River offering 116' of pristine river frontage which includes small sandy wading beach. You will encounter otters, wood ducks, turtles, foxes & exceptional birding, along with other forms of wildlife.
Explore this unique river on our kayaks, canoe like boat for paddling and or, with our tubes, should you choose to indulge. Fish or dive off our dock where vast fishing opportunity abounds. (dock mooring is available for rental boat). We furnish a gas BBQ grill for your outdoor dining pleasure & fire pit to relax by in the evenings.
This historic river property steeped in Florida history, nestled in a very serene setting on 1.5 acres of towering pines & majestic oaks, is very much like a storybook. The property boast an ancient phosphate mine, excavated during the Dunnellon boom days, circa late 1800's. This phosphate mine was bridged over to access the cabin & river.
Wondering about the property literally brings you back in time in a park like setting. You will enjoy the natural flora & fauna, some of which could be considered prehistoric, such as the large mastodon fossils in the phosphate mine, which can be viewed. Many of the majestic pines are centuries old & history reveals they have been used for turpentine harvesting. Come and take a stroll through our beautiful property which we have been blessed with.
There is also a small vineyard on this land, and if in season, wine may be available for tasting. The property has two cabins, the owner lives in one of them.

What a beautiful experience! My boyfriend and I decided at the last minute to getaway and this was the perfect place! Mike and Nancy were gracious hosts, supplying us with pretty much everything we needed for the perfect weekend. They were so welcoming and really made us feel at home. The cabin was well kept and cozy. We enjoyed cooking our meals each day and eating on the screened in porch. We also took advantage of the fire pit, roasting marshmallows at night and sitting by the cozy fire. Our days were filled with fishing off the dock, kayaking up the river and enjoying the beautiful landscaping that Mike and Nancy have provided. it was truly an unforgettable experience with many treasures and we are looking forward to our next visit. If you are looking for an escape... this is the place to go!!

A PERFECT GETAWAY!
A PERFECT GETAWAY!
My husband & I needed some time to recharge from our hectic life and we found the ideal spot with this property. The cabin was just perfect for us two. It's beautifully decorated, very clean, and probably the most comfortable bed on the planet. We enjoyed our morning coffee every day on the screened porch, overlooking the river and listening to the wildlife, it's overwhelmingly perfect. We ventured out on our very first kayak trip, and we loved it. We didn't try using the canoe, but we plan on it next time around. Most of our time was spent relaxing and taking in the beauty of the park like property. It really is everything the website states. Mike & Nancy were very friendly and we received fresh baked cookies twice during our week stay. We highly recommend this cabin rental.

My husband & I spent our anniversary here this past weekend and loved it. Cabin is perfect for a couple and owners are very nice. We did not use the kayaks or tubes as we just went to relax but everything was there and in good shape. We enjoyed our stay and will go back.

What an awesome place to stay. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our visit to this cabin on the Rainbow River and have decided this is our "favorite" place to relax and kayak. Accommodations are excellent for a couple. The house was exactly as pictured and was exceptionally clean and well stocked---all you have to do is bring your food. Kayaks and a canoe and tubes are available for your use but we had our own kayak. It was our first visit to the river and we were not disappointed. It is beautiful--actually prettier than you can imagine. Nancy and Mike were excellent hosts and we are excited about coming back for another visit SOON. I would highly recommend this cabin to anyone who wants to get away and see the most beautiful river I have seen so far. The yard is also well maintained and I just can't think of any one thing that we needed that was not there. We are planning our next trip and will surely check to see if the river cabin is available.
