GREAT NEWS! We have added a second full bathroom in the lakeside master bedroom!

We have just a few weeks left this summer. Book Today and look forward to a great vacation on Lake George!

Our home is directly on peaceful Northern Lake George. Lake George is known as the "Queen of American Lakes."  Majestic panoramic views from every room.

We are in the quiet hamlet of Hague, in the North Basin of Lake George. Inside or out,  you are literally steps from the lake. Here you can relax and forget the rest of the world.

This is a two story house, with the living/dining area and kitchen on the first floor, and three bedrooms, a sleeping/lounging porch and bathroom on the second floor.

There is a large brick patio, and an 8 foot wide dock. The patio has 2 tables, comfortable outdoor furniture, a gas grill and an outdoor fireplace. Wood is provided for campfires! The entire property is beautifully planted with flowers.

Boat docking for a small (18-20 feet) is reserved for your use.  There is a marina one block away for boat rentals. Our dock is shared by the owner and 2 other boats. The boat dockers are strictly "load and go." They do not use the dock except to access their boats. They are very friendly people, and respect your privacy.  We are a one block walk to Hague Beach and park, which is a great spot for swimming, picnics, etc. There is a lifeguard on duty at the Beach.

The first floor consists of a great room living and dining area. There is a queen-size sleep sofa in the living room. The entire lake side of the living/dining area is glass windows overlooking the lake. There is a dining table seating 6-8, and a fun restaurant style booth that seats 4. The living area has a 19 inch color/cable TV with VCR and DVD. There is also a small CD player with connector for ipod type devices.  A highlight of the living area is a beautiful stained glass window.

The living/dining area is separated from the kitchen by a great bar/breakfast counter. This is the perfect spot for eating, or relaxing with a drink. The kitchen is fully equipped with a full-size stove and refrigerator, dishwasher, as well as a microwave oven, toaster oven, coffee maker, blender, electric griddle, and all basic cooking and serving utensils.

Upstairs the master bedroom is a large room with a KING-size bed next to a huge picture window overlooking the lake. Relax while listening to the sound of waves lapping the shore! The master bedroom opens to a balcony overlooking the lake.  This is the perfect spot to watch the sunrise, or catch a spectacular moon rise across the lake. The balcony is rimmed with flower boxes. This room also has a dresser, a desk, and a small sofa and chair.  There is a large closet.

The second bedroom has a queen bed and a twin bed, as well as a desk and dresser. This bedroom faces the lake.

Both bedrooms are air conditioned, and have TV's with DVD players.

A third small bedroom has a twin bed, and a lovely lake view. This bedroom is not air conditioned.

The master bedroom opens to a delightful sleeping/lounging porch, ringed with windows overlooking the lake, and has a double bed and a small table and chairs.

The entire lakeside of the building is the Island View Rental. The front of the building houses my charming antique and gift shop, "Old Glory." You have your privacy, but during the day I am nearby to assist you in anyway you may need with household needs, travel/tourist advice, etc. Our guests enjoy the personalized service we are always happy to provide!

The furnishings are Adirondack "lodge" casual but comfortable.  Games, puzzles, cards, etc. are ready for the kids.

Quoted rates are for a "housekeeping unit"  meaning that there is no daily maid service. Maid service can be arranged if desired. Tenants are asked to bring their own sheets and towels. Plenty of pillows and blankets are available. Linen/towel service may be arranged if desired, or if you will be flying instead of driving.  Beach towels are not provided. No towels are to be removed from the premises. There is no washer, but laundry service is available if requested. A laundromat is located in Ticonderoga, where you will also find groceries, gas, banks, and other services.

Parking is provided for two vehicles. If you need more space for an additional vehicle, boat trailer, etc, please let us know and we gladly  make arrangements.  No RV parking is allowed. No guests are allowed to sleep on boats.

There is no smoking inside the building.

The hamlet of Hague is a tiny, lovely Adirondack village. While staying at the Island View you can walk to the "Oldest General Store in the Adirondacks." The town also has several antique and specialty shops. There is a small family restaurant with a bar. You can also walk to our beautiful Town Beach and Boat Ramp. Hike to our Hague waterfall, or enjoy other hikes on nearby trails.  Three churches are within walking distance. Other restaurants are located in nearby Ticonderoga. Fort Ticonderoga, Saratoga, Lake Placid, and Vermont are all easy drives away. There is an Amtrak Railroad station in Ticonderoga, with daily service to New York City. If you need transportation to the train station we can provide it for you.

Our Lake George rental offers a three season paradise! Spend the summer on the lake swimming, boating, and water-skiing. Fish for Bass, Lake Trout and Landlocked Salmon. Enjoy spectacular fall foliage. History, scenery, hiking, art, antiquing, museums and shopping are all nearby, while you enjoy the peace and serenity of the Adirondack Mountains. We are one hour north of Saratoga, famous for horse racing. Ticonderoga is 10 miles away, with Fort Ticonderoga and access to Lake Champlain. Vermont is a scenic ferry boat ride away!

Owner Description

Thank you for considering our Island View home. We enjoy meeting so many nice people who love Lake George as much as we do. We will do everything possible to make certain you have a great vacation at Lake George. See you at the Lake!

Why the Owner Chose Hague

The northern part of Lake George is the most beautiful part of the lake, as it is quieter and slower paced. Bruce grew up camping on the nearby islands with his family, and it is a dream come true to have the good fortune to call a piece of Lake George home. Hague is a wonderful town to spend a day or a lifetime...

The Unique Benefits of this House

Our home is located directly on Lake George. The house sits less than 10 feet from the lake! The views are breathtaking, and the lake is spectacular anytime of the day or night. Gorgeous sunrises and moonrises are not to be missed. We are just minutes by boat to the wonderful Waltonian Island group. We love being able to walk to the town beach for summer concerts, the Hague waterfall and brook for peace and serenity, and the Hague General store to meet friends and pick up supplies and maybe a great pie!

Island View Review

Guest: Pedro (Norfolk)

If you looking for a Grade A vacation rental cottage on the quiet end of Lake George, it doesn't get any better than this. I can't imagine anything more that these wonderful hosts could provide to make your stay more enjoyable. The cottage was everything we were looking for with regards to comfortable living space, amenities, and its close proximity to the lake. The property is everything it is described to be on the VRBO web site and then some. The extra bonus one gets when staying at this property is the 4 star service provided by the owners, Sandra and Bruce Rust. The willingness of these owners to go above and beyond the call of duty to ensure that your stay is as enjoyable as possible is commendable. Our only regret is that our week long stay went by much to fast and we have to wait another year before we can return.

Owner response:Thank you. We so enjoy sharing our love of Lake George with our guests. We hope to see you again at Island View.

A little slice of heaven...

Guest: Karen and John (Long Island)
Date of Stay: 07/23/11 Review Submitted: 08/26/11

Vacationing at the Island View is the best of all worlds: you get to live, relax and play comfortably with nature at your doorstep. We love that you can be in the lake one minute and in the kitchen , the next. In the morning the sun rises over the mountains and floods the lake with light; you can continue to sleep in the quiet and comfort of the upstairs bedrooms ( AC , thank you), or have an early swim . Afterward, you can enjoy a cup of coffee on the beautiful patio area complete with a dock, fire pit, and an array of spectacular plants hosting the occasional hummingbird or butterfly. The views are spectacular and you can sit all day and watch the water , be in the water , or on the water with the mountains of Lake George as your backdrop. The backdrop is all still visible from the inside of the Island View, as well, thanks to sliding glass doors and windows. The space within is ample, comfortable and inviting. It works for a couple of people or for a small crowd. We love sitting around the kitchen with its bar-style island and enjoying our friends and family; speaking of which our hosts , Sandy and Bruce, couldn't be more attentive to our needs and comfort. Many ,many thanks. From the Island View you can walk into Hague and enjoy the shops and eateries there ( just a few), or travel to other destinations not too far away. If you're lucky enough to have a boat, the Island View rental comes with its own shared dock and then , truly, you really do have the best of all worlds! For us, the Island View is a little slice of heaven that we get to share!

Owner response:The best part of island View for us as owners is the great people who stay there! Thank you for your stay, and for the fun and friendship we share. See you next summer!

Lovely Lake Retreat

Guest: Island View Devotee (Colts Neck, NJ)
Date of Stay: 07/30/11 Review Submitted: 08/23/11

My husband and I, along with our son, his wife and our three grandsons have been coming to Island View for several years now. Island View is a comfortable, well situated home in a pretty and sheltered location that is also conveniently within walking distance to the delightful restaurants and shops in the town of Hague. The owners are gracious and very accommodating. I would recommend Island View to anyone who wants to enjoy a spacious house, with a dock steps away from the back door and with amazing views of this pristine lake.

Owner response:It has been a delight getting to know you and your family and especially seeing your grandchildren have fun on the the lake.

I can't say enough about Island View in Hague. We've been staying here for the past four years and I truly consider it a home away from home. It's in a quiet little town on the banks of one of the most beautiful lakes in the country. As soon as I pull into the driveway and see Lake George in front of me, my tensions melt away and I feel so peaceful. It's owned and cared for by two wonderful people that have become friends - Bruce and Sandy. We couldn't ask for a nicer, more welcoming place to spend our vacation each summer.

Owner response:We are so fortunate to have such nice people stay at Island View. We truly appreciate your stay and your friendship.

This is my second year at Island View!! Bruce and Sandy (owners) have made a comfortable retreat from the rat race of everyday life. There is nothing derogatory I can say, they have it all covered. I am looking forward to another relaxing week on the Lake with my family again next year.

Owner response:Thank you! We truly appreciate your stay and your kind words. See you next year!
