Mount Baker house description
Welcome to the Glacier Getaway. Enjoy the best sun in Glacier. Even with all that sun the Getaway is surrounded by Cedars and Hemlocks for the Northwest feeling. It doesn't get any better than hanging out inside or outside on cold snow winter days or warm sunny summer days. Look out the many windows nature abounds surrounded by gorgeous trees and birds and sometimes a deer or two.
The Glacier Getaway is truly an oasis in Mt. Baker from all the hustle and bustle of your every day lives. The Getaway is close to walking trails, the ski area, mountain biking yet you can still get coffee, pizza, Italian food, or bar food just a mile away.
While you are here we invite you to: Take a hike! Ride your bike! Watch a crackling fire in the wood stove. Take pictures. Cozy up under warm comforters, sit on the sunny deck and sip some tea.
The Getaway sleeps four, but just maybe it can fit a little more. There are two bedrooms each has a Queen bed. Upstairs in the loft there is a fold out futon couch. Cozy and Spacious!
Enjoy your connection to the mountains and trees during your stay.

- The Glacier Getaway is located just minutes from the Mt. Baker Snoqualmie National Forest. Many of the scenic hiking trails are within a beautiful half hour drive. The Mt. Baker Ski Area is 19 miles up the gorgeous windy Hwy 542. No advertisements- just trees and mountains. If you cross country ski, snow shoe or snowmobile the Sno- Park is even closer. Bikers, walkers, hikers just step out your door and pick a direction. Artist Point is a must from August-October. The blueberries are amazing to eat, then later in the fall the bushes turn crimson, add a dusting of snow and it becomes a glorious wonder of colors....moreless

About the owner: We (Jimmy and Luca) have lived in Glacier for over 15 years. We love everything about Glacier: the quiet, the outdoor opportunities, the nearby forests, the gentle rain, the mountains and the breathtaking views. Both of us are very involved with our community. Jimmy plays in the local bluegrass band on Thursday nights at Graham's bar. He also plays folk and rock music at Chair 9. Luca worked for the Mt. Baker Snoqualmie National Forest as a Wilderness Ranger for years and years until she moved on in careers and started practicing Rolfing and Thai Massage both in Bellingham and Glacier. Living at the Glacier Getaway was a fantastic place for us to raise our kid when he was younger. We were able to bike around, the hikes were close by and the neighborhood was safe. As he got older, we felt ready to take on a dream of Luca's to buy a farm. We now have a farm in Glacier where Jimmy can play music to his heart's content. Luca has a studio for Rolfing and Thai Massage and their son has space to run and jump and practice to become an NFL quarterback or a professional skier.
Why the Owner Chose Mount Baker:
The Glacier Getaway is so close to all the fantastic trails for hiking, biking riding, snow sports or gentle neighborhood walks. Yet it is tucked back enough to be quiet if that is what you want or need. It is one of the sunniest lots in all of Glacier. Luca loved the sun so she could have fantastic veggie gardens that she is now turning into flower gardens. Jimmy loved to sit on the lawn and play guitar. In the early morning it is wonderful to drink coffee or tea out on the deck. We loved being so close to town, the ski area and the mountains. If we didn't feel like getting in a car we could just walk around the neighborhood or bike down to town.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
We love the open space of the Glacier Getaway, the high ceilings, the decks, the cedar wood in the living room and the fireplace. We love how it feels both cozy and spacious at the same time. We chose the Getaway because of the sun and the large lot size. The Getaway is just so close to everything that Glacier has to offer.
