Property description

Tavneena House is a two storey spacious period country house with many character features located in a quiet rural location.There is a panelled entrance hall with high ceilings throughout the house. The ground floor comprises sitting room with an open fire and plenty of comfortable seating, kitchen/dining area with an open fire, utility area, shower room and one of the double bedrooms. The main bathroom is on the half landing along with the single bedroom.  On the second floor are the further two double bedrooms.  Each double bedroom also has a sofa where you can relax and read quietly if you wish. The garden is to the front of the house with lawn either side of the drive and ample parking. The nearest town is Charlestown (3 miles) which offers many traditional shops, pubs and restaurants (as do most nearby towns) it is usefully situated at the junction of the N5 and N17 roads making it a perfect central point from which to explore the West from Mayo to both Galway, Sligo and beyond!

Notes:

Weekly bookings are generally from Saturday afternoon to Saturday morning but we are more than happy to accommodate other requests subject to availability.

Extra nights or shorter stays (min 3 nights) can be negotiated.

Our rates include bed linen, towels and cleaning. A turf fire starter pack is provided (additional turf if required can be supplied).

Electricity is extra and meter-read on arrival and payable on departure after a final reading.

10% discount for bookings of two consecutive weeks.

When booking a non-refundable deposit of £100 (against the full rental cost) is required.  The full amount is to be paid 6 weeks before arrival.

Payment will be accepted by bank transfer, Euro Cheques or Sterling Cheques.

Tavneena House is a spacious two storey period house in a quiet rural location 3 miles from Charlestown County Mayo.

Charlestown is situated at the intersection of the N17 (Sligo to Galway) and the N5 (Dublin to Westport) and only 4 miles from Ireland West Airport Knock. It is a wonderfully central point from which to make day trips across the West from Croagh Patrick and Westport House in Mayo to Lissadell House and Yeats Country in Sligo and Kylemore Abbey and Clifden in County Galway.

With many loughs and rivers in the immediate locality including Loughs Conn and Cullin and the River Moy fishing is readily available. Numerous golf courses, horse riding and some of the best Blue Flag beaches in Ireland are also within easy reach as are the National Museum of Country Life the Foxford Woollen Mills and Knock Shrine.

For walkers and cyclists the Great Western Greenway (from Newport to Mulranny) and a large section of the Wild Atlantic Way (from County Sligo through County Mayo into County Galway) are both less than 1 hours drive.

Approximate distances from Charlestown are Ballina 25 miles, Sligo 30 miles, Westport 40 miles, Galway 60 miles and Dublin 115 miles.
