Why the Owner Chose St. Helena Island
This is a quiet private uncrowded lowcountry island setting, away from traffic and noise/congestion. great sailing/boating/beaches/kayaking/beachcombing. The Unique Benefits at this House
Directly on the water/Ocean ICW/ with a private beach, outdoor showers on pier head and house, very clean, and private/safe but with historic Beaufort, Forrest Gump filmed here :) mini Charleston, 20 min.. Charleston 75 min , Savannah 45 min.swimming off our dock floater/ tieup your boat at our dock/ crabbing/ fishing/ great beaches close by. beautiful home fully furnished/pine floors/ book and DVD library, just a great place to spend time relaxing/ or actively. 75 min from Charleston airport/ Savannah airport/ 10 min from town, great restaurants/ bars/ everything you would need and more!
The South Carolina breeding facility for the Yerkes Primate Center. Without even the aid of binnoculars, you can easily see up to 2 dozen on a sunny winter day soaking up the sun a mere 25 ft. out by boat; It is illegal to land on this unique wildlife island. :) but the views are quite cool!
Our close neighbor maintains & cares for dozens of unique animals & birds on his property, which is in the direct access to our house; so, coming & going you can catch glimpses of emu, peacoacks, llamas, Shetland ponies, huge turkeys, donkeys, horses, pigs, goats, & even a camal! One of his goats has 3 horns coming out of his head! The owner does not discourage a friendly visitor to feed his animal pets with fruits & veggies from outside his railing fence; trust us, this is memorable & fun!
Highly family-rated South Carolina Oceanfront park. Hosts a beautiful lighthouse that you can climb to catch gorgeous coastal views. Great for walking, biking, even horseback riders venture to this special gem of a natural beach park. Perfect place for outdoor picnics w/ shower facilities. We have a season pass for your use.

Came for week in early October with husband and children and their spouses. You feel like you are home from the minute you walk in the front door. Tons of reading material, dvd's and games. The kitchen is exceptionally stocked; even the use of spices in the pantry. The back porch, yard and pier are wonderful. We opened doors and rarely used air conditioning. Dock equipped with crab trap which we used and caught over 50 blue crabs for dinner. Rob was simply "great" and the house was more than promised. Hope to return next year.

When we entered this lovely home, we felt that we had been invited into the home of a friend. Such special details everywhere. There were shelves full of books, DVD's and art work from the area, along with gathered family treasures to catch your eye. Inviting seating areas with large screen TV, and a charming screened porch with breath taking views of the water. We saw dolphins every day, either from the porches or the dock. Fishing from the dock was great, but the view of the stars was even better. The bedrooms were comfortable with quality mattresses ( one of the things we frequently find lacking in vacation rental) The bathrooms were nicely equipped. The kitchen was furnished with good quality cookware,a ton of spices ,even a nice selection of cookbooks for making new regional favorites for your family. We made Frogmore stew one night, then enjoyed a fire in the firepit. What great memories! ROB was a great host , and made sure our stay went well by checking in with us during our stay. As we watched the stars from the dock walkway one night, my 6 year old grand-daughter said: Grammie, I have never seen it so pretty as this....... ahhhhhhh, good memories!
Owner response:Terry Baker, Duluth, GA I've visited this low country charmer at least a dozen times. It's becoming my number one vacation spot. In addition to the comforts at the house, we love the location's close proximity to Beaufort, Savannah, Charleston, Hilton Head and Hunting Island. It's the perfect "home base" for exploring the coastal area. The home is "off the beaten path" and provides quiet and privacy that most vacation homes lack. The kids (and adults) can play without worrying about the neighbor's or traffic! Fresh seafood, running on the beach at Hunting Island, watching a thunderstorm from the porch, biking in Beaufort, kayaking in the bay and sleeping late. It doesn't get any better than this!

I rented this home for a family getaway, everyone in the party loved it. The kids had a blast fishing, playing games, watching the porpoises swim by and roasting marshmallows. The house was perfect for our group. There was more than enough to entertain everyone. It says a lot when a house full of kids didn't turn on a TV from Friday to Sunday! :) Rob was great to work with and the house was exactly as described. We will definitely stay here again!

My family spent the Thanksgiving week in this comfortable low country escape. For us, it was just the right amount of connectivity to the rest of the world balanced against the ability to get off the grid for a while. The picture do not do the house or the location justice. Just a few of our favorite memories: * gorgeous view of the night sky by the fire pit - I could actually see the milky way * a very generous kitchen from which to cook a flawless Thanksgiving feast for nine! * a nice dock with excellent inshore fishing only minutes away by boat * the rooster crow at dawn... followed by the hilarious donkey's hee-haw; my 1 year old loved the farm animals nearby Additionally, the property was very clean and Rob was more than gracious as a host. I look forward to visiting again.

So many islands and waterways to explore! We went to Beaufort, Hilton Head, Edisto, and Kiawah for lunch and toured many other creeks, sloughs, and islands. A water lover could spend a month there and not see everything! And in years of family trips, we've never had a better view! The many dolphins in the area were also a treat. Our favorite land excursion was definitely biking at Hunting Island State Park. And since we did a fair amount of cooking, the fully stocked kitchen was a wonderful convenience. We ate almost exclusively on the screen porch to enjoy the lovely surroundings. The house is very homy. The owner, Rob, was extremely helpful. A wonderful vacation place.

We just came back from the USA and had a wonderful time at the house. The view is astonishing, from every part of the house. The house feels if you are at home, really cosy. from the dock we saw dolphins coming by every morning and afternoon. For our kids it was also great to play outside and in the house. A screen for sitting outside is available for a part of the outside area. Really smart, because the bugs can not come in and you can enjoy. Everything is available at the house, from hammock to all different tools for in the water. Again we loved the house and would absolutely recommend it to everybody.

Everything and more of a perfect lowcountry home. Clean, comfortable with spectacular water views nestled under beautiful mature trees dripping with Spanish Moss. The ideal place to relax, but with the option to play. Kayaks, a dock, private beach and porches to entertain. Downtown Beaufort has quaint shops and many options for dining. Hunting Island is a beach paradise. The owner's of this property thought of every detail to make our stay memorable. I would highly recommend this home for someone looking for an authentic lowcountry vacation.

We stayed at this wonderful home in early April for spring break and had a truly wonderful time. The home has everything anyone could ever want or need for a vacation to remember and Rob was helpful and very accommodating. Spending sunrises and evenings watching the dolphins play just feet from the pier was magical. The home is also minutes from the charming Beaufort and an hour from historic Savannah and Charleston for fun day trips. We will definitely make this our home away from home for future vacations.

So, So much to do - in particularly if you enjoy boating and/or fishing. Often the only sound you hear are the dolphins coming up to breathe. The house is terrific. The dock is terrific. The spot is amazing. That's why we keep coming back.
