This house is one of the oldest structures in town. It began its life as the stage coach stop and trading post in the original pioneer village of Freeman. While it maintains its primitive exterior; it is completely modernized on the inside. This home is perfect for extended corporate stays. It is three blocks from downtown and close to everything. It is also a wonderful place to get away and enjoy the charm of a spectacular small town with many opportunities for leisure activities.

This is simple small town charm at its best in this progressive community. Experience the delight of visiting a town so obviously loved by its residents. Filled with beautiful parks, a paved recreational trail, golf courses, snowmobile trails, and more. There is no shortage of fun to be had. The Red Cedar River offers an amazing white water river course, swimming, fishing and canoeing.
But if nature is not your cup of tea; enjoy your morning coffee (or tea) at Aromas on Main Street and a leisurely afternoon visiting the downtown stores. Don't miss The Rustic Corner and Darbe & Co. Another great find is the Floyd County Museum (one block from the property). And don't forget to catch a movie at one of the only remaining Art Deco theaters.

About the owner: I like to bring old properties back from the dead. I like to use innovative ways to increase energy efficiency and prefer to use renewable resources whenever possible.
I have traveled all over the world with my Air Force husband and have lived in Belgium, the Azores, Texas, Washington, Wyoming, Mississippi and Minnesota.
Why the Owner Chose Charles City: I saw this property on the internet and thought 'Wow, what a neat old building.' But when I traveled the few hundred miles to take my first real look at it, it was the town and its community that I truly fell in love with. There was some talk about it being torn down and that's when I new I had to save it.
