Discover a Family Tradition on Linekin Bay
Year Purchased: 1896
Why the Owner Chose Boothbay Harbor
Our great grandfather lived in the Boston area, and found a summer vacation village that he could reach in two days. Overnight steamer from Boston to Portland, ferry from Portland to Boothbay Harbor, then wagon to Bayville.
The Unique Benefits at this House
Right on the water, we enjoy the good weather brought to Linekin Bay by a prevailing Southwesterly breeze. The bay is protected, and we have great sailing, snorkeling, waterskiing, and fishing.
Or, you can relax in a rocker on the wrap around porch, and watch the day roll by.
A 20 minute walk through the coastal woods takes you to the 19th century boat building lofts and captains homes of East Boothbay
A bustling New England port of call, Boothbay Harbor attracts sailors and yachtsmen from all points of the compass. Laid out like a nineteenth century fishing and boatbuiding hub, "the harbor" feature

Joshua Dill built The Mooring in 1896, and our family has been summering on Linekin Bay for over a century!

We have rented this cottage twice and think it is wonderful. It has the nicest set up of any of the cottages we have rented in the BBH area for the past 20 years. The porch and its view are to die for. The only drawback is that if you drive stick, the driveway may really scare you.
Recommended for:Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, age 55+, sightseeing, families with young children.

This is the best vacation spot on the North East Coast. What could be better than sitting high over the bay listening to bird song, watching the little lobster boats pull up their catch, and sipping on a cocktail every evening. Somehow the air is clean and the skys are bright everytime we rent your fantastic home. Many thanks, we will be back time and time again, if we are aloud!

The little community of Bayville provides an opportunity to drift sweetly in a peaceful realm. The Mooring, well placed in this community, offers a really great environment to commune with friends seen too infrequently. It lends itself easily to fun friendship and creative energies! ANDRE

We just spent two weeks here after "the worst May we can remember"(local lobsterman)and were pleasantly surprised by warm weather and sunny skies. We hiked to Boothbay Harbor on the Appalachian Indian Trail, swam in Linekin Bay (the water actually reached 75 degrees), and ate a lobster roll a day. The only rain day we had we drove to Freeport to shop LLBean and the outlet stores. Great bargains! The cottage felt like home to us, and we're coming back next year.
