Hau'ula Hillside Hideaway is a restored, ten-bedroom Hawaiian country home nestled in the Ko'olau Mountain foothills on the North Shore of Oahu. This lovely two-acre estate offers the simple pleasures of a traditional, Hawaiian-style, country vacation... serenity, bird-watching, star-gazing, and enjoying fresh fruit from the banana, papaya and mango trees that grow on our land.

Stay with us for 30 days or more and get the best rate on the North Shore! Guest suite #1 comprises one level of our home that includes two bedrooms, an eat-in kitchen with a reading or TV viewing area, a bathroom with an extra-large shower, and a spacious 10 x 24 foot screened lanai that serves as the main living area of the suite. Guest suite #2 has three bedrooms, one bathroom, living room, dining room, two large lanais (one covered lanai). The living room and lanai overlook a large, magical koi pond . All the rooms have ceiling fans to keep the cool breezes flowing even on the warmest days.

The suites have been newly remodeled and are furnished with lovely wicker, rattan and sea-grass pieces throughout. In Suite #1 the French doors from both bedrooms open out to the screened lanai and frame the views below of large old Royal palms with the ocean as the backdrop.Both guest suites have private entrances, their own yard areas, gardens and parking areas. There are no shared areas. You can rent one Suite or both depending on the size of your party. The owner lives on the same property, so we can assist, as your 'ohana' (family) to ensure that this vacation is your very best!

While Honolulu’s attractions are only an hour away, Hauula is located on the lush North Shore/Windward side of Oahu and offers a low-key atmosphere, striking landscapes and many fun-filled adventures. The deep green Koolau Mountains plunge dramatically into the ocean and valleys of the Windward side, their peaks coaxing the clouds, invite brief rain showers on almost a daily basis, just enough to keep our gardens rich with all the colors of the rainbow!

We are five minutes from the world-famous Polynesian Cultural Center. Many deserted, white sandy beaches line our shores, great for scuba-diving, snorkeling or simply relaxing in the sun. World-famous surfing at Sunset and Pipeline Beaches is only 20 minutes away. Turtle Bay Resort and beach is ten minutes by car. Excellent hikes, such as Hauula Loop and the Makapuu Ridge trailheads, are only a five minute walk.

Spend the day at the Kualoa Ranch 15 minutes away. This 4,000 acre cattle ranch offers horseback riding, ATV rides, visits to Jurassic Park movie set, ancient fish ponds, WWII bunkers and historical exhibits. Shopping for groceries, local Hawaiian treasures in small shops and farmers markets are only minutes away. Many good local eateries are nearby.

  • We stayed in unit 2 for 10 days around New Year's, and it was wonderful. Everything was exactly as the web site says, and Sina was there to help whenever we had a question. The kitchen had some food left over from previous guests, which was helpful. We loved having the koi pond, and the turtle, whom we named Juan Carlito (why not?) was really friendly. People in the Hauula area were also very, very nice, and of course, this is a perfect place if you do not want the hustle and bustle of Waikiki. We will definitely return with friends and family!

  • Dear Sina and Dotty, Aloha and thank you both so much for a beautiful week on O'ahu. We really enjoyed staying in Suite #1 on the hillside and were totally pleased with the accommodations. Your listing, while very accurate, cannot do justice to its absolute charm! We cannot say enough great things about Sina and her wonderful ohana, and we left Hau'ula with the feeling that we had become part of that Aloha spirit.   • Wonderful place to stay! We didn't want to leave at the end of the week. We can't wait to return. It's perfect to be out of the city and close to the beach, PCC, North Shore etc... So nice to have laundry facilities and kitchen. We'll never stay at a hotel in Hawaii now. The hospitality was wonderful, the beds were comfortable, the towels and sheets were new and wonderful... what more could you want?
