Loreto villa description
Imagine you're driving down the road or paseo into the magic called Loreto Bay. There are homes on both sides, the water is on your left and Casa Alegria is getting closer tucked quietly off that road by the Sea of Cortez. Nestled off the road within beautifully landscaped walking paths with bright native colors and water fountains. As you enter through the glass front doors you walk into an inner courtyard beckoning you to open the back door as you breathe deeply feeling calm throughout your body, you walk right onto another outer courtyard opening to a canal, golf course and beach. This is relaxation. This is Casa Alegria.
Take another breath and let's walk through the house together. On the first floor there is the main courtyard with the following rooms looking into the plants and water fountain; a bedroom and full bath with Queen bed, beautiful armoire and private garden, living room with stereo and games with large really comfortable sectional sofa facing the courtyard with french doors that I keep open to the sounds, dining area with seating for six leading to the custom kitchen with rare window view to the Sea and canals. It includes granite counters, stainless appliances and pass through to courtyard bistro table and chairs. Now let's walk up the tiled outer staircase to the second floor where we have a large terrace with covered pergola, a barbeque and eating area, French doors opening into the master bedroom with a king pillowtop bed, and bathroom with rain shower, Mexican tiled dual sink vanity. We can now walk up the tiled staircase leading to the viewing tower with a view of the Sea of Cortes and the Sierra de La Gigante Mountains range. It has three sleeping benches with cushions and full bedding.
Casa Alegria is one of the larger homes with 1,690 sq. ft. It is a part of a safe, caring community of numerous homes, community center, golf and tennis, swimming pools, gardens, shops, restaurants, cafes and wine bars.
The beautiful Mexican west coast city of Loreto is located on the Sea of Cortez and is the second ‘Magic Town’ of South Baja California, along with Todos Santos.
A Pueblos Magicos is a place in Mexico that offers visitors a “magical” experience – by reason of their natural beauty, cultural riches, or historical relevance. The program was launched in 2001 by the country’s Secretariat of Tourism in conjunction with other federal and state agencies.
A “Magical Village” is a place with symbolism, legends, history, important events, day-to-day life – in other words, “magic” in its social and cultural manifestations, with great opportunities for tourism.

What is a Magic Town?
The magical villages program, developed by the Ministry of tourism in collaboration with various government agencies and State and municipal governments contributes to reassess a set of populations in the country who have always been in the collective imagination of the nation as a whole and which represent fresh and different alternatives for national and foreign visitors. More than a bailout, is a recognition people who inhabit these beautiful places in the Mexican geography and have managed to save for all the historical and cultural wealth that enclose.
The magical villages program objectives are very broad scope, among others, highlight the tourist value of towns in the interior of the country, to structure a tourist offer innovative and original, that meets one demand rising of culture, traditions, adventure and extreme sports in natural settings, or the simple, but unique everyday rural life.
Data of nearly 12,000 years ago, Loreto is considered the oldest human settlement in the Peninsula of Baja California. Today, you can see some cave paintings and petroglyphs extraordinary. These paintings spectacular murals are made of rocks, which represent large forms of animal life and human in scenes that could be ritual ceremonies, pilgrimages, hunting or battles-like. These are really fascinating displays of the communication style of primitive man.
You’ll be fascinated with Loreto’s tranquil village setting, friendly people, scenic beauty configured by the towering mountain range of Sierra La Giganta, historic flavor and abundance of water sport and land recreational opportunities. First time visitors to Loreto marvel at this Destination of Discovery.
Activities are endless – take a short Ponga boat ride to visit the Isle Coronado, with it's pristine water, and white sandy beaches or Isle Carmen, known for it's abundant sea life – go sport fishing with one of the locals for Marlin, Mahi-Mahi, Dorado, and Yellow-Fin – during spawning season you may see the whales – if fishing is not your thing, then you can always snorkel, kayak, or enjoy shelling – golf on the championship course or play a little tennis – visit town with its cobbled streets, historic Mission, funky shops and great affordable dining - or my favorite, enjoy a walk through the charming neighborhoods where each villa and garden is unique.

- Casa Alegria is in a fully secure development right on the beach. We have 24 hour security walking the premises. It is a community where folks are friends with one another and aware of what's going on. The downtown of Loreto is a few miles away yet can get there in 10 minutes by car. In our little community there is a great beach front cafe with pool side service, a wine bar, tequila bar, coffee houses and cafe with smoothies and fresh juices, golf course with a few fabulous restaurants and all within short walking distance of the Casa. As you stroll along the Paseo there are artisan boutiques, massage folks, yoga classes and new things appearing regularly. And at the Inn there is palapa usage, kayak and snorkel availability. And for those who like there is Loreto's only championship 18 hole golf course, which is beautiful and has many holes right on the water!...moreless

This is the perfect home for enjoying the beauty and goodness of Loreto and surrounding area. We couldn’t have been happier with the location, ambiance, amenities. It is not only aesthetically inspiring but wonderfully comfortable, inviting, well-appointed for every guest to have an easy, relaxing, memorable Baja experience. Be sure to enjoy the upper deck/patio in the early morning hours or to catch late night stars; incredible. The friendliness of the property management team was also a pleasure. We look forward to going back to Loreto, Where the Gods Go to Vacation on Beach Side again soon!

Wonderful home with lots of open space, great for entertaining or just hanging out. Great views from the master bedroom and rooftop deck (the deck is also the perfect place for stargazing at night!). The bedrooms and baths are charming and well-appointed. There are multiple swimming pools within walking distance and the beach is right there. Loreto is a quaint, authentic Mexican town boasting a brand new boardwalk with restaurants, galleries and a beautiful walking path. Will definitely be back!

About the owner: I was raised in a beach community in New York, where my generation was one of the last to enjoy the innocent safety to play freely throughout the town. I was an innovative educator having founded graduate schools in acupuncture and natural medicine, a liberal religious leader and social entrepreneur. I am now writing books and finding the importance of relationships, reflective rest and doing what brings joy and beauty into our lives.
Why the Owner Chose Loreto:
Having fallen in love with Loreto, I wanted to be within a community of homeowners from throughout North America providing community along with services and shops that meet my needs. And location within the community was very important. I wanted a home that was by the beach, set back from the road, in a quiet location where we could walk to everything in quiet beauty.
The Unique Benefits at this Villa:
I fell in love with the beauty, the serenity and the people of Loreto. This is a rare and special place where families play together. It reminded me of my childhood as I grew up near the boardwalk and ocean. In my youth I felt safe to play with friends, while my parents and grandmother enjoyed their friends and activities, this is what I feel in Loreto along with it's unique culture. The town is the right size, have made wonderful friends both from the town and newcomers from around North America and with its esplanade (boardwalk), the Malecon brings people out to stroll on the water day and night.
