Santa Croce apartment description
Italy Perfect Winner of Trip Advisor-FlipKey's Award of Excellence 2011, 2012, 2013. Conde Nast Traveler Expert Specialist. Travel & Leisure Magazine Italy All-Star 2013. BBB A+
The Tesoro apartment is a treasure of art and harmony in the historic center of Florence one block from Piazza Santa Croce.
We welcome your inquiries and questions and will respond within one day. The calendar is kept up to date.
The Santa Croce neighborhood is one of the most fascinating and historic in the center of Florence. Piazza Santa Croce is traffic free and hosts events of every kind, including the famous Calcio in Costume (soccer as it was played in ancient times - in medieval costumes). Surrounded by history, the neighborhood has many restaurants and markets.
Located between Piazza Santa Croce and the river, this Renaissance palazzo is built in the style typical of the period. Grey pietra serena (serene stone) outlines the geometry of the facade. The building is beautifully maintained; it is clean and quiet.
Glowing with radiantly colored 15th century frescoes, the entry transports you into another time. You can enjoy these beautifully preserved murals up close from an antique settee.
The spacious living room has a 20th century flair with a sofa, side chairs, chaise longue, a handsome antique sideboard, fireplace and many pieces of art. The exceptional aesthetics of the apartment evidence harmony and a spirit of beauty that can be appreciated at every turn.
A dining table, where you will find your welcome basket of wine and a few essentials, seats four. You can also choose to dine on the terrace, a particular joy during warm weather. The terrace has a wrought iron table and chairs for four. It is right off the large kitchen where there is another table for casual meals. The kitchen is thoroughly modern and offers artistic elements to enjoy.
The terrace and living room overlook the inside of the block with its secluded gardens.
The study is another treasure with every wall and the ceiling covered with 18th century frescoes. Their beautiful clouds and cupids contrast with the vivid colors and themes of the entry frescoes. A leather sofa converts to a single bed. A full bath with shower adjoins the study. A flat-screen television has satellite reception for a few English language shows, a DVD player, and a stereo. We listed this as a second bedroom with VRBO but because it has a sofa bed and not a regular bed, it really shouldn't be so. Unfortunately we cannot change it once it is coded, so apologies. It serves well as a bedroom however, with an ensuite bath.
Tranquility suffuses the master bedroom with its warm yellow-gold walls and polished wood throughout. The decorating language is Japanese with a queen sized bed is on a wooden platform, so is a little lower that the usual. It has a heavy foam mattress. A glass walled room forms a temple to the bath.s The toilet is in a separate room off the bedroom. A sofa and large lounging pillows invite you to recharge in this magical room. The room faces the internal, quiet courtyard.

I was satisfied with the Tesoro apartment. I found it to be spacious and clean, and the appliances and equipment worked well. A special feature was the frescoes and other design attributes (e.g., ornate ceilings) of the apartment. The greeter was also helpful in her explanations of how to function in the apartment. In addition, I appreciated the information that you provided, and your courteous and informed responses to my questions in advance of my trip. I would recommend your company and the Tesoro apartment to others.

A lovely respiteGuest comment entered by manager
A lovely respite
We spent 5 nights September 2013 at the Tesro apartment. It is relatively large, though works best as a 1BR. It could be set up with the library as a second BR. It was well equipped and featured 5mbps Wi-Fi. It also had a fax, though we didn't use that. The terrace overlooks a central courtyard and was good for coffee or wine. The frescos on the barrel-vaulted ceilings in the hall and library are an impressive touch. The master BR is large and has a large split bath. Only oddity was the raised bed; just watch your step. The apartment is conveniently located just of Piazza Sante Croche and literally next door to a tourist office that was most happy to act as our concierge. Walk to town center is maybe 7 minutes. Plenty of small restaurants and bars within a 2 minute walk. Our greeter was prompt (we arrive early) and offered some good tips. Overall a very nice apartment and one we will investigate should we return to Florence.

Wonderful StayGuest comment entered by manager
We recently returned from a wonderful stay in Florence, Italy. Our ItalyPerfect rental, Tesoro, was an ideal "home base" while there. The location was ideal for us. It was on a rather quiet side street, but very convenient to virtually everywhere. The apartment was clean and comfortable. The Medici frescos on the walls were amazing. The furnishings were very eclectic, but comfortable. The contact for checking in went very smoothly...she spoke fluent english and was quite helpful. We have already recommended Italy Perfect to several friends, and plan to contact you again for future visits.

Lovely Apartment, perfect neighborhoodGuest comment entered by manager
Lovely Apartment, perfect neighborhood
This is the second year we spent two weeks in Santa Croce, and this is the apartment we will return to in the future. The neighborhood is perfect, very close to all the tourist sites in Florence, but on the edge of them. Convenient five or ten minute walk to the San Ambrosio Market, Teatro del Sale, Cafe Cibreo, ZEB, and many other excellent restaurants in Santa Croce and Oltrarno. Five or ten minutes to the Uffizi, Palazzo Vecchio, Ponte Vecchio, etc. And of course the Santa Croce church is right around the corner. Florence is a walking city, but there are also three bus stops within two minutes of the apartment, and it's very easy to find your way on the buses with Google Maps on your phone. This is not a bland rental apartment, it feels like someone's home, and is very comfortable, attractively and thoughtfully furnished and decorated. The living room is a delightful place to sit and read, relax and dine. The full kitchen had everything we needed to cook the lovely things we bought at the market. The terrace overlooks a delightful well planted shared inner courtyard with roses, hydrangea, and so on. The bedroom was suitably dark (with the curtains drawn), quiet and comfortable. It's an apartment we'd be happy to live in. This was our first time using Italy Perfect and it was smooth and efficient, we will use them again for this apartment and in other cities as well.

Awesome, Artistic and Inspiring
Tesoro is the most amazing apartment we have stayed in. One block from Santa Croce, great neighborhood. The place is AMAZING - you walk into a hallway with frescoes and the whole home is tastefully and gracefully decorated with art treasures. It is well worth the price. The home is large - lots of rooms, and even a loft in the bedroom. Kitchen is well stocked with everything you need. The bedroom has a large comfy bed with walk in bathrooms (with long tub to soak in!) right next to it. Terrace is so relaxing and quiet - just what you need as a respite from busy Florence. Our greeter was amazing - she knows Florence as she wrote guides to it and gave us many helpful recommendations. We can't wait to go back!

Amazing Art filled Florence apartment
Amazing Art filled Florence apartment
The pictures don't do justice to this amazing apartment. The frescoes on the walls reminded us that we were in the heart of Florence. The location was relatively quiet and the patio on the courtyard provided for a glimpse into the lives of ordinary Florencians. The rooms were large and cozy. We cooked most of our meals here. The kitchen was well appointed with both cooking utensils and ordinary spices. The bed in the master bedroom was larger than most Italian doubles. We loved the location as it was on a quiet street that was literally only a block away from the heart of old FLorence. It was a five minute walk to local grocers and a ten minute walk to several of the most amazing Piazza's in Florence. Our host was a talented artist herself and was very attentive to our needs.

TerrificGuest comment entered by manager
We had a wonderful stay at this terrific apartment. The decor is lovely,s tarting with the marvelous frescoes as you enter the apartment. The apartment is quiet, spacious and very clean. The pretty terrace looks out over a lovely inner courtyard and we had many wonderful meals there contemplating the day's events. The location is well situated near the river and all of the major sites. There are numerous good restaurants, gelaterias and shops within minutes from your doorstep. Elisabetta greeted us at the apartment upon our arrival and was wonderful! The service provided by Italy Perfect was always prompt, courteous and efficient, making our stay in Florence all the more memorable. I would highly recommend Italy Perfect to anyone planning a trip to Italy.

Tesoro was amazing!!!!
Tesoro was amazing!!!! The apt was perfect! Beautiful, comfortable and in an incredible location. It is very beautifully decorated and frescos!!! The apt was extremely quiet and private and looks into gardens - not on the street. Steps away from Santa Croce! The apt made our trip very special. We never got on a bus or a taxi - we walked everywhere because the location was so perfect. There is a very good Lebanese restaurant in the same block as the apt. We have already recommended the apt and Italy Perfect to friends. Pat helped us so much with the apt and planning our trip. She was wonderful. We stayed in the apt and we joined the "friends of the Uffizi" which allowed us to go in a long list of churches and museums(including the Academia!) for free and we did not have to wait in lines. That was great deal!

Tesoro was everything advertised and more. The pictures do not compare to the real thing. There is plenty of room and the terace is great for breakfast and dinner. Tesoro is located steps from Santa Croce and the tourist information office is next door! It is a leisurely twenty minute walk to the railroad station. On that walk you pass all the main sites in Florence. Santa Croce piazza is where hundreds of people gather in the evening to socialize and eat their gelatto. Any restaurant we ate in was good, but with Tesoro and all the food markets available we cooked in most nights. "A little pasta, some fruit, cheese, bread and wine." Tesoro and Florence were a perfect Italian vacation.
