The Tesoro apartment is a treasure of art and harmony in the historic center of Florence one block from Piazza Santa Croce.
We welcome your inquiries and questions and will respond within one day. The calendar is kept up to date.
Location
The Santa Croce neighborhood is one of the most fascinating and historic in the center of Florence. Piazza Santa Croce is traffic free and hosts events of every kind, including the famous Calcio in Costume (soccer as it was played in ancient times - in medieval costumes). Surrounded by history, the neighborhood has many restaurants and markets.
Building
Located between Piazza Santa Croce and the river, this Renaissance palazzo is built in the style typical of the period. Grey pietra serena (serene stone) outlines the geometry of the facade. The building is beautifully maintained; it is clean and quiet.
Interior Description
Glowing with radiantly colored 15th century frescoes, the entry transports you into another time. You can enjoy these beautifully preserved murals up close from an antique settee.
The spacious living room has a 20th century flair with a sofa, side chairs, chaise longue, a handsome antique sideboard, fireplace and many pieces of art. The exceptional aesthetics of the apartment evidence harmony and a spirit of beauty that can be appreciated at every turn.
A dining table, where you will find your welcome basket of wine and a few essentials, seats four. You can also choose to dine on the terrace, a particular joy during warm weather. The terrace has a wrought iron table and chairs for four. It is right off the large kitchen where there is another table for casual meals. The kitchen is thoroughly modern and offers artistic elements to enjoy.
The terrace and living room overlook the inside of the block with its secluded gardens.
The study is another treasure with every wall and the ceiling covered with 18th century frescoes. Their beautiful clouds and cupids contrast with the vivid colors and themes of the entry frescoes. A leather sofa converts to a single bed. A full bath with shower adjoins the study. A flat-screen television has satellite reception for a few English language shows, a DVD player, and a stereo. We listed this as a second bedroom with VRBO but because it has a sofa bed and not a regular bed, it really shouldn't be so. Unfortunately we cannot change it once it is coded, so apologies. It serves well as a bedroom however, with an ensuite bath.
Tranquility suffuses the master bedroom with its warm yellow-gold walls and polished wood throughout. The decorating language is Japanese with a queen sized bed is on a wooden platform, so is a little lower that the usual. It has a heavy foam mattress. A glass walled room forms a temple to the bath.s The toilet is in a separate room off the bedroom. A sofa and large lounging pillows invite you to recharge in this magical room. The room faces the internal, quiet courtyard.

Tesoro was everything advertised and more. The pictures do not compare to the real thing. There is plenty of room and the terace is great for breakfast and dinner. Tesoro is located steps from Santa Croce and the tourist information office is next door! It is a leisurely twenty minute walk to the railroad station. On that walk you pass all the main sites in Florence. Santa Croce piazza is where hundreds of people gather in the evening to socialize and eat their gelatto. Any restaurant we ate in was good, but with Tesoro and all the food markets available we cooked in most nights. "A little pasta, some fruit, cheese, bread and wine." Tesoro and Florence were a perfect Italian vacation.

My wife Katie and I had the good fortune to stay at the Tesoro apartment, Santa Croce, Florence. We would both like to extend our thanks to you and your staff on making this our first trip to Italy so memorable. The apartment was everything and more that the photographs promised it would be and we cannot recommend it highly enough to anybody who might be considering a similar trip. In particular we would like to express our thanks to Elisabetta who went out of her way to assist us on our arrival.

We had a wonderful time on our recent trip to Florence. The apartment (Tesoro) was great…no complaints. There were three of us, so it was very spacious. We loved having breakfast or a snack on the outdoor terrace, overlooking the courtyard and garden (we were blessed with fantastic weather, so we were able to take advantage of this outdoor space)…listening to the birds, and the sounds of the neighborhood. The best thing about the apartment, in our opinion, is the location. It is situated in a location that is within walking distance to so many sights and attractions. If you like to walk, you can get anywhere in Florence from this location. Also, the apartment’s owner was very gracious, warm and friendly when we met her upon our arrival and the day of our departure. We found it very easy to find our way around the city, and were able to locate convenience/grocery stores, and great restaurants in the area. We tried to avoid anything that looked “touristy”, and that formula usually resulted in some great, authentic food with friendly service. Florence is a city that everyone should visit!

The apartment was stunningly beautiful The apartment was stunningly beautiful and we showed it to all our fellow students [guest was taking a 3-week art class in Florence] who were so impressed with standard of artistic decoration as well as the level of comfort and the convenience of it. When I return to Florence with my husband I will certainly be asking you if I may book it again.

The apartment was very large and very nice. The Frescos on the wall were lovely. Our host was not available on the day we arrived so she sent a friend over until she could get there the next day. He did not fully explain how to operate everything and it wasn't until the next day when our host got there that we were able to operate all appliances. The location was WONDERFUL! Our only problem: When we entered the apartment, it was aparent that someone/many people had been smoking in that apartment. I'm sure it is a no smoking apartment and if one smoked you should have used the little balcony. However the smell was awful until we could get the windows open...every single time we came in the apartment. The smell went away eventually only to be battled the next time we closed all the windows and came back later. The apartment could also have used more lighting..it was quite dark in there at night..made reading difficult. Having said that...there were plenty of towels, the apartment was well stocked and TWO bathrooms was wonderful! [We are delighted to hear that the Davis' enjoyed the apartment and location but sorry to hear about the smoke smell. We assume that perhaps previous guests might have ignored the no-smoking policy which is hard to enforce if guests are not considerate. We will ask the owner to review the lighting and supplement it as needed. Lisa Italy Perfect]

We loved the Tesoro apartment. It is big, beautiful and located in the perfect place. The Piazza Santa Croce is right out the door and it is central to everything. We walked everywhere. We especially enjoyed the welcome "treats" and having all of the books on Florence and Italy to read and reference.

The Tesoro apartment in Florence was more than we imagined. We fell in love with it within the first day. It was beautifully appointed, very clean, organized, and well maintained. The location was wonderful. Close enough to heavy tourist areas but tucked away so that we had a private oasis. Also, our hostess, Elizabetta, was extremely kind and thoughtful, leaving us coffee, wine, snacks and other goodies in the kitchen. We rented from three different companies on our three-city tour, and in hindsight I wish we'd rented them all from Italy Perfect. The level of service was excellent overall.
