  My husband and I needed a get away to relax, re-honeymoon, revive our general happy nature and Island Breeze provided us all that we needed to become re-juvinated! If you are looking for a place to take in caribbean beauty, feel gentle ocean breezes 24/7, have privacy yet meet lovely locals, relax day and night, swim, snorkel, go shelling, eat seafood, and re-connect with all the good in life... we say book Island Breeze. We were thrilled to discover the only surprises with the cottage was an extra bathroom, washer, dryer and it truly became our home for the week. Mike, Katy, Samantha and Ann provided us every bit of information we needed to book our travels, pack our bags, and get the transportation we wanted for our week's stay. We had all the privacy we wanted at the cottage and it really was our own beach. There were no worries getting to the cottage from the airport and exploring the entire island at our leisure. It was the just as we had hoped for and then some!

  My husband & I just returned from our honeymoon at the cottage and we enjoyed our stay immensely! I'd say it was perfect - perfect weather, perfect view, perfect beach! We rented a car so we could travel into town for groceries and then spent most of our time either in the cottage or on the beach and loved every minute of it! It was so relaxing and beautiful. The photos don't do it justice! It was very quiet and clean. Don't pass this little cottage up if you are looking for a romantic get-away-from-it-all. We sincerely hope to return to the Bahamas again someday!

  We spent a week at Island breeze and we loved it. Its a very confortable cottage in front of a beautifull sandy Beach. The house is very well furnished, the room has lovely sea view, wifi was working all perfectly. Only one negative point but this is not due to the owner : the sun flyers are a real problem here and they are maybe more active on this side because of the mangrove behind the house. Otherwise the spot is perfect and peacefull and you will hardly find anyone on the Beach. The owner, Katy was very helpfull and responsive and she did everything possible to make our stay enjoyable. Thank you and dont hesitate to go to Eleuthera : its a dream place

  Having vacationed on the beautiful Island of Eleuthera at both Island Breeze's Cottage and Bungalow I can honestly say that these little cottages have all the comforts I needed to enjoy a wonderful time away from home. The amenities include full kitchens, full baths, comfortable beds,decks with hammocks, outdoor chairs, grills and as I found out snorkeling not far away. I found that all I needed to do was relax and enjoy all the comforts of home. Katy and Michael have been wonderful to deal with in making my vacations a wonderful experience. I would highly recommend Island Breeze as your vacation destination. Thank you Katy and Michael for sharing your beautiful homes. Patricia Bennett

  What I was seeking when I went on vacation was to slow down from my hectic schedule and to find some peace. What I got was a whole lot more than I could have ever expected. From the time I walked off the plane I was fast forwarded into the Bahamian way of life. The pace was slow, calmer and friendly. The weather was gorgeous mid 80’s with a gentle breeze at all times. I began to feel myself relax for the first time in months and to quickly adjust to the Bahamian pace. Island Breeze was more than I imagined. I stayed in the Cottage and everything I needed was right at hand. From great books to read to a full utility kitchen and plenty of places to relax I was home. I would sit on the deck for hours, listening to the waves crash and read, or go down to the beach which was right out front, and walk. The king size bed was comfortable and when my husband needed it the television was available too. There were two bathrooms, a living area and both an eating area and bar to sit at. Comfortable living was what I would describe Island Breeze as. I would highly recommend Island Breeze to anyone looking to find some relaxation and peace.

  From the description, photos and location of the house, we knew that Island Breeze would be the perfect retreat for our Eleuthera holiday. We spent 10 incredible days on the Bahama Island of "freedom" exploring & snorkeling on both the Atlantic & Caribbean sides. From brilliant colored fish to large stingrays, ship wrecks & deserted white & pink sand beaches- this incredibly relaxing island offers phenomenal beauty & adventure. The island locals are some of the friendliest people we have met in our travels & we always felt safe. It was nice to come "home" to Island Breeze Cottage after a day of adventure to kick back & grill the fresh red snapper we bought from a local fisherman & enjoy the fresh greens bought at Island Farms. The cottage is so charming & we enjoyed relaxing on the decks, the 2nd floor balcony was great for morning coffee & evening star gazing & the deck overlooking the ocean with stairs down to the beach was fantastic. The furnishings are comfortable & the internet is a bonus. Katie & Mike are easy & pleasant to work with. They are very attentive to questions & providing info about the island. Island Breeze was the perfect place for our fun & much needed relaxing vacation!

  My husband and I spent a 'much needed' 10 days at Island Breeze Cottage in March. We looked forward to the trip for months and we were delighted when we finally set eyes on the adorable pink cottage!! It was exactly what we had hoped for...perfect size for two people, warm feeling, cozy, and clean. Loved the set up with the bedroom and balcony upstairs...we spent many afternoons there soaking up the last bit of the sun with a cocktail. The view is beautiful with a refreshing breeze....I can still see and feel it if I close my eyes!! The balcony is also a great place for morning coffee, but we preferred to have ours on the deck across the little dirt road (just a few steps from the cottage) overlooking the beach. The bed is super comfortable and there is a flat screen TV right in the bedroom...great for a late night movie after a long day of beaches and sun!! We slept with the glass doors open and just the screens closed...it is so nice have the sound of surf lull you to sleep. Kitchen had everything we needed and we were happy to be able to cook dinner at home a few nights on the grill. You can eat outside, at the bar in the kitchen, or at the little table in the dining room. They washer and dryer were such an added bonus...we were able to pack much lighter than usual and it was great to go home without a suitcase full a dirty laundry!! The beach in front of the cottage is great for walking and there are many areas within the limestone that you can find little places to swim. If you look closely in the sand you can find beautiful white sea urchins. The cottage has a great collection of maps, info, lists of best beaches, etc to use while you are there. We explored the ENTIRE island from North to South while we were there and found that the location of this cottage is perfect....very close to Governor's Harbour where it seemed most of the 'action' was and not too far from the other highlights of the island. Having seen the entire Island, I wouldn't stay in any other location but North Palmetto Point. And we will most definitley return to Island Breeze!! Mike and Katy were great to rent from...they truly want people to fall in love with Eleuthera...and we did!! They were very attentive to making sure that we had everything that we needed before we left....they gave us car rental info, happy hour info, and seemed to be as excited as we were for our first trip to the island. We simply loved this cottage, the island, and all of the wonderful Bahamians!! Can

  My husband and I stayed at Island Breeze in December for a week and had a wonderful vacation. This was our third time at Island Breeze. Mike and Katy are the owners and have done a wonderful job updating the furniture and inside since our last visit. We love that we can sit up on the upstairs deck at night before going to bed and watch the stars. It is amazing. The cute kitchen is perfect for making dinners when we dont want to go out and just relax at home. Island Breeze has a wonderful view of the water and great breezes. Cant wait to return.

  I was not impressed by the dirty property, cockroaches or the owner's attitude! Recommendations: Clean the cottage thoroughly and regularly! Remove the note saying that it’s customary to leave a $10 tip for the maid/cleaner even if you don’t use her – This is a joke right? Treat the cottage for cockroaches on a much more regular basis and not when clients are in it. Be honest about the Wi-Fi/internet (No WiFi/internet) situation and update your property information regarding this and any other changes in the property. Replace the cracked ceramic stove top with a gas stove top so that cooking is possible during a power cut of which there are many, Villa Sylphide the property next door has it’s own automatic back-up generator, it is clean and well cared for, also just along the road Pink Sand Cottage is a little smaller but is very clean and very well cared for, the owners are also resident for 5 months of the holiday period and are on hand during this period. Quick step by step instructions for the TV/DVD would be helpful – it took 2 days to work it all out with the different hand controls. Replace the smoke alarms which have been removed, also test the 2 fire extinguishers which were due for annual testing in 1999 (I assume that these are legal requirements for holiday rental properties) Buy a good reading lamp. (The 2 table lamps in the sitting area are far too dim to read with – we resorted to wearing our head torches!) Replace the can opener which does not function! Move the dustbin away from the property as it attracts vast swarms of flies which can find their way into the property if the doors are left open. Change the lock on the upstairs veranda doors so that there is no chance of getting locked out on the veranda. Change the lock on the downstairs bathroom door so that it cannot lock itself shut if the wind blows it shut with nobody in it. There is no method of opening the door once it is locked with nobody in the toilet and the door has clearly been forced because of this on more than one occasion. The skylight window leaks and water runs into the property when it rains and drips down onto the locked cupboard downstairs. More than one key would be useful so that people using the property would not have return at the same time or hide the single key in the undergrowth. Supply at least one gallon of drinking water for new clients as there was no water left in the property when we arrived. Replace the extremely noisy fridge.

  Owner response: I am the owner of Island Breeze and am quite suprised that our guests chose this forum, to voice their complaints. Before addressing their issues I must adnit my lack of understanding that if they were that disappointed with the home upon entering the home for the first time, knowing they are staying for a month, why did they not request a refund and move to another house or make us aware of their issues so they could be addressed? We take the care of our property quite seriously and when informed of the internet problem, the only complaint we received, I flew to the island to address the problem. I met our technician at the property who informed me that we needed a part not available on the island that would need to be secured in Florida and sent over. That equipment has now been sent to the island thereby curing the internet problem. When I arrived on the island I did meet our guests who treated me and workers on the property with open hostility. They mentioned the bug problem which I immediately offered to have the property sprayed and they said no. Regarding the noise made by a normally running refrigerator I simply do not know what type of response is appropriate. As far as using a TV remote control my response is the same. As far as personal insults leveled at me I do not intend to stoop to that type of exchange. Prior to these guests arriving and since their departure we have had several other couples stay at the cottage who have emailed us to let us know what a wonderful time they had and how they simply thought the cottage was a great vacation home. I do not intend to get into a running dialogue with these people so if anyone interested in staying in our home has any particular questions please contact us by phone or email for information.

  We stayed at the pink cottage several years ago & had an awesome time! We were recently on Eleuthera ( the cottage was booked, so we stayed somewhere else) & we drove by the cottage. There has been some construction out there on the point, so it is not as isolated as when we stayed there. This is a great rental if you have other family members who may want to rent out some of the other homes near by. We are thinking of taking my Mom & doing this sometime. But, if you are going to Eleuthera to be totally alone, this probably is not the best choice. The cottage itself was great. Everything you need. Very clean & well appointed. You will require a car or driver to get supplies, etc.

  Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway.

Cancellation policy:

Rental Agreement Terms and Conditions Island Breeze Cottage, North Palmetto Point Eleuthera, Bahamas Payment and Cancellations – Fifty percent (50%) of total rental fee is due upon making your reservation. Failure to make this payment within seven (7) business days will subject your reservation to cancellation. The balance of the rental fee plus damage security deposit is to be paid in full no later than sixty (60) days prior to your arrival date. Cancellation of or changes to your reservation must be made in writing (e-mail or fax is acceptable). If you cancel more than 60 days before your scheduled arrival, 100 per cent of your payment will be returned to you. If you cancel within 60 days of your arrival, 50 per cent of your total rental fee will be refundable. If your cancellation occurs within 30 days of your arrival 100 per cent of your rental fee will be retained. However, if any of your canceled dates are re-booked we will refund you 100 per cent for the days re-booked. Whenever possible we are willing to allow you to reschedule your dates at no penalty to you. No shows, late arrivals, decrease in number of persons and early departures after arrival are non-refundable. Damage Security Deposit - Damage deposits are fully refundable within 45 days of your departure. Pending there is no breakage, damage, missing items, long distance calls charged to the house phone, or additional clean-up necessary due to your leaving the property excessively dirty. You hereby agree to pay the owners the cleaning or replacement costs for any and all damages to the entire property which may occur as a result of you or your guest’s occupancy, excluding normal wear and tear. The property is fully furnished, including a complete supply of bed linens and towels. Beach towels are available. Bath towels are not to be taken to the beach. Patio furniture is not to be taken to the beach. There are folding beach chairs which you are permitted to take to the beach and a cooler. Locked closets and pantries are not included in this rental. You as the Renter, agree to take all reasonable steps to ensure that your family and other guests in your party follow the rules and regulations outlined in this document. The owners of the house are in no way responsible for any personal injury or bodily harm that may occur on the property to any renter or their guests. Condition of Property. Tenant accepts the property in its condition and state of repair and Landlord shall not be obligated to make improvements or repairs. Upon termination of the lease, Tenant shall surrender the property, including the house, grounds, and furnishings, to Landlord in the same condition as at the commencement of the lease term, normal wear and tear accepted. In the event the property is returned to Landlord in a damaged condition, whether such damage is caused by the act or omission of Tenant, Tenant’s relatives, guests, or others, Tenant shall be liable and shall reimburse Landlord for the full cost of the reparation of such damage. The security deposit paid by Tenant shall be applied toward reimbursement of Landlord for such damages, but Tenant’s liability shall not be limited to the amount of the security deposit. Alterations: Tenant shall not alter, paint, or decorate the property, install improvements or fixtures thereon without prior written consent of Landlord. Tenant shall not perform repairs to any item on property. All repairs are to be arranged by Landlord’s representative. Inspection: During the lease term, Landlord or Landlord’s representative may enter the property at all reasonable times to inspect the property after giving prior notice to Tenant. Capacity of House – The total number of persons allowed in the houses at any one time is restricted to the number of persons scheduled and paid for in the reservation. Drugs and Hazardous Materials – The renter and members of his/her group are prohibited to use or bring onto the property any illegal substances, flammable fluids, explosives or items deemed hazardous to life, limb or property. Complaints and Maintenance: The owner will make every effort to keep the premises and inventories in good working order. In the event, there is a maintenance problem; they will strive to repair the problem as soon as possible after being notified. No refund or rate adjustment will be made for unforeseen mechanical failures such as the supply of electricity, water, pool heater/filtration systems, air conditioning, telephone, television/cable service, appliances, etc. It is the Renter’s responsibility to report any problems or damage immediately to the local property manager. No Pets – No pets of any kind are allowed in or around the premises without written consent of the owner being granted before arrival. A pet or evidence of a pet found on the premises will cause immediate eviction, and forfeiture of Guest’s entire rent and deposit. No Smoking- Smoking inside the premise is strictly forbidden. Any evidence of smoking inside the premise will result in forfeiture of the security deposit. Please keep any smoking to the exterior of the premise. Internet, TV, and other communications. Although Internet, and satellite service is provided, we are obviously at the mercy of the companies which provide these services. Eleuthera is an out island of the Bahamas and as such is subject to the challenges associated with remote island living. Therefore we cannot guarantee that these companies will provide a service that is 100% reliable. Periodic outages are an occasional reality. We will do everything possible to ensure that the equipment within the premises is working to within its’ capability. Water Usage- Water is provided by the collection of rain to a cistern (large concrete tank) that is part of the homes foundation. As such we ask that renters use some discretion with water use and attempt to conserve where necessary. Please do not leave taps running and refrain from excessive use. Also the toilets have a dual flush mode to conserve water, we ask that you use this function when possible. In addition the water has primary filtration suitable for showering and general washing tasks, however we do not recommend that our renters drink it. Drinking water should be purchased from local grocers. Energy Usage- Electrical power on the island is provided by Bahamas Electric Company. It is produced via large diesel generators at the south end of the island. It is a very precious and expensive form of energy on the island. We all hope that in the future there are alternate methods developed such as wind or solar, but until that day arrives my wife and I approach energy usage on Eleuthera with an eye towards conservation. We also ask that our renters try to adopt the same philosophy. Please refrain from leaving doors and windows open while the Air Conditioning is running, and also while away. .
