This house has a "real" Mendocino mailing address and is a brisk 1.8 mile walk to downtown. If you wish to be in or near the town, be sure to ask your renting party what the geographic location is. SOME OF THE BLOCKED OUT DATES ON THE CALENDAR ARE MY PERSONAL DATES AND CAN BE SWITCHED TO ACCOMMODATE YOUR STAY AT THIS BEAUTIFUL HOME!!!
This is an incredible home on 300 feet of spectacular Northern California coastline. It sits 40 feet from the cliffs with a beautiful reef in front of it. This view is perfect for watching the family of 38 seals that live there! Relax on the deck or go out to the bluff and sit in the swing to watch the whales and sunsets. Whales up to 120 feet in length can sometimes be seen as close as 300 feet from the deck! Sleep to the soothing sounds of waves against the cliffs.
There are views of Mendocino headlands and Point Cabrillo Lighthouse from this lovely home. The T.V. room blends into the dining room with lots of seating, lots of glass, and a cozy wood stove. This home has exceptional ocean views from almost every room. Visit the scenic and historic village of Mendocino where you will find gourmet dining, many unique shops, galleries, theater, and music... amazing music!!
You are just a few minutes from Russian Gulch State Park. This park is known for the heavily forested Russian Gulch Creek Canyon, a headland that features the Devil’s Punch Bowl (a large, collapsed sea cave with churning water), and a beach that offers swimming, tide pool exploring, skin diving and rock fishing. Inland, there is a 36-foot high waterfall. Hikers enjoy miles of hiking trails. The park also has a paved three-mile bicycle trail.
A few miles north along spectacular Highway 1 is Fort Bragg and the town of Cleone. Visit MacKerricher State Park. MacKerricher State Park offers a variety of habitats; beach, bluff, headland, dune, forest, and wetland. Tide pools are along the shore. Seals live on the rocks off the park’s Mendocino coast. More than 90 species of birds visit or live near Cleone Lake, a formal tidal lagoon.
During winter and spring, the nearby headland provides a good lookout for whale watching, although it's not as good as the back deck of this house!The park is popular with hikers, joggers, equestrians and bicyclists. You can fish here, trout in 2 fresh-water lakes. The park has a wheelchair accessible nature trail.

There will be a bottle of great local wine on the table for you. There is a barbeque on the back porch. There are so many good restaurants in downtown Mendocino. Hmmm , where to start??? The simple little Mendocino Café is one of my favorites for all meals. The Moose Restaurant is nice, the Mendocino hotel has good food and the MacCallum house is good too. You must get up early and eat breakfast at the Bayview café. There is a deli/store across from the Mendocino post office on Ukiah Street with great sandwiches. Mendocino café, Bayview and the post office deli are more Mendocino local favorites. Eggheads in Fort Bragg is worth the 8 mile drive north for amazing omelets. While there you should go to glass beach. Drive north through Fort Bragg and turn west at Denny’s restaurant. Park where the road turns north and be amazed at an all smooth glass beach. After you get to the first beach, walk south to the next two beaches and each one gets better. Get this house booked and get ready to have a lovely vacation…

- Beachfront: Mendocino-Big River Beach is 2 miles to the south and Casper Beach is 2 miles to the north. 40 feet in front of this house is a 30 foot bluff to tide pools, fishing and one of the most beautiful seal covered reefs in the world!! The beaches to the north and sough are great for surfing, bodyboarding and skimboarding. SORRY… THERE IS NO ABALONE DIVING FROM THIS PROPERTY…. YOU WILL BE TICKETED BY THE LOCAL SHERIFF!!
- Oceanfront: There are very few "true oceanfront" homes in Mendocino. This is one of them! This house is dramatically close to the ocean. The bluff is 40 feet from the deck. The bluff drops off 30 feet into the ocean and small children need to be watched very closely.

- Kid Friendly: I love children and they are welcome here yet the cliff is 40 feet from the back door and then it's a steep sloping cliff to the ocean so you must WATCH THEM VERY CAREFULLY!! If a child gets hurt at this house it will break my heart too.
- Smoking Not Allowed: If you smoke inside of this house you will lose your deposit and pay to have the entire house sanitized. If you smoke outside... you will be struck by lightning!!

- This area has access to some amazing mountain bike riding and road bikes are seen hourly blasting up and down highway 1. Russian gulch, which is a 10 minute walk to the south, has amazing trails… one in particular that leads to an incredible waterfall. Big River has outrigger canoe trips that go up and down the river with the tides. Take a lunch and drinks… float up the river as the tide comes in and drift back while the tide goes out… you see some amazing sights and you don’t even have to lift a paddle if you’re not in the mood!!

Bob & daughters - OMG - our weekend was truly spectacular and indeed Mendo's finest... we enjoyed a beautiful, memorable, relaxing experience - Seal Reef was wonderful and everything we were looking for. We loved the deck, the sound of waves, hottub, prepared wonderful meals (no grilling unfortly) - were awe-inspired by the awesome surf videos...thanks for everything! Explored Mendo and the beach at Fort Bragg - all super. Cleared and tidied as best we could before leaving, checked the hottub - hopefully it won't be too taxing on housekeepers. Of course we took a ton of photos - you're probably sick of them as you know what your place looks like?! best, A&M, J&M
