What a fabulous week... 2 feet of powder at the end of March was amazing. We were a large group and rented both floors of the house. It was clean and amply supplied with everything we needed. The inside was beautiful with high wood ceilings. There was plenty of room in the upstairs for everyone to gather after skiing. The house sits on the upper side of the road, so the views were amazing. Being right next to Shay's Revenge was extremely convenient. We walked down the driveway, put on our skis and were on our way. At the end of the day, we could take a path through the woods that took us right to the front door. Those not able to start on the tougher terrain took the shuttle from right in front of the house. The house was great and we've already booked our return stay for next year.

Owner response: MARCH, THE BEST KEPT SECRET AT SNOWSHOE ! We reduce our rates on March 10th. Then we make them even lower, beginning on March 24th. The crowds are gone but the snow is still there.
Well quite disappointing when we arrived to see that a dirty place that has not been taken care of. Wow, where do I start, first to find out that it was 100 degrees here, with no air conditioning(knowing we are renting in the summer and never mentioned this)not even a ceiling fan, nor screens to even open the windows. When we did open the windows only to have bugs flying in the windows were broken also. We walked in the lower level to find out that the slider door was broken and not able to be locked, burn holes in the carpet, broken light fixtures, dirty stove with rusty burners, this is only a few things i mentioned for the lower level unit. The top level was even worse, the lock on the door was broken and looks like someone broke into it. Of course most of these windows were also broken with not one screen to even open the windows. The refrigerator had left over food, the dishwasher had dirty dishes in it, the freezer had dried up food in it with it even on the lighbulb in the freezer. The kitchen sink sprayer was broken and cracked. Cobwebs hanging from the lights in the kitchen. The fireplace was cracked and filthy. The carpet had burn holes and filthy. The bedroom ceiling lights had bugs just laying in them. The bathroom was the worse with some black mold on the wall in the tub close to the ceiling. The shower curtain was filthy, bugs in the tub, the toliet paper roll didn't exist just a wet roll of toliet paper on the back on the toliet, broken towel rack and one of the worst broken lights over the mirror in the bathroom with the outlets exposed which could be quite dangerous. The children were afraid to sleep in the bunk beds cause there was a broken board on the bed, burn holes in the wood and the worst was a condom found by my 11 year old. The sheets apparently were never washed. It was disgusting. We also tried to contact the owner when we got there and left a message, but no return phone call. I would be happy to provide pictures we had taken. Disappointed!!!!

Owner response: ABSOLUTELY UN-TRUE! After our housekeepers have cleaned between 3 or 4 groups, I organize a work trip. I usually take the same crew and we throughly clean, maintain, and update the house. We were working, at the house and left it cleaned and made up two hours before this group arrived. The first call, from them, came as we were driving home. 100 degrees! Not in the last 100 years! The high tempeture does not rise above 80 on top of Snowshoe Mountain. It was 73, when we left, at 3 pm. We have a dozen windows and 5 glass doors, that open. After this group checked out, my crew and I, imeadiately, made the 4 hour trip back to the house. We walked into a very big mess. The entire house was trashed. It took us 3 days to clean the house, AGAIN. We washed everything, that we did not throw out, steam cleaned all of the carpet, scrubbed everything, and washed the windows. As USUAL, we left the chalet with plenty of clean towels, made all of the beds with clean linens, and stocked it with all of the necessities, that we provide. The Chalet is unique and it rents very well. We have hosted 100's of groups. This is the first time that we have encountered anything like this. We are updating the 24 photos that you can view, on this site. " A picture speaks 1000 words " We have numerous groups that rent the house every year, for many years. Many reserve it a year in advance. They tell us how much they love using the chalet but we have never solicited reviews. I guess we are going to start. It is not the newest or the biggest house, on the mountain. But it is the one that you will like best.
