Broken Bow cabin description
The Cliffhouse is a very special place. A 1,000 sq ft cabin atop a mountain on 40 acres over looking Lake Broken Bow. Surrounded by 6,000 acres of National Forest and US Core of Engineer land. The ultimate in seclusion and privacy.
The locals describe the view as 'the best view in all of McCurtain county - period'.
Unparalleled hiking, mountain biking, bird watching right from your doorstep.
The Cliffhouse has one queen bedroom downstairs and a 350 sq ft queen loft bedroom upstairs.
The upstairs loft is accessed via ships ladder and has breathtaking views over the lake.
There is a full bathroom with shower and a half bath, both downstairs
The 600 sq ft deck faces the lake and has incredible panoramic views.
Max occupancy is two couples or a family of five.
The Cliffhouse may not be suitable for children under ten years old. (ladder)
Access - The Cliffhouse sits 5 miles off the highway and is accessed by US Forest Service roads. Its a beautiful drive, but you will need a car with some clearance and a bit of driving skill to make it in. We often times see white tail deer, turkey, and birds of prey including red tail hawks and various owls. The first 2 miles of the drive is easy, you can drive 25 mph. The remaining 3 miles is slower and requires some attention. You will cross 4 or 5 small creeks on the way in. Water is rarely more than 4 inches deep. There are also grades up to 12% on gravel roads.
There is cell phone service at the Cliffhouse. Verizon and AT&T works best. Sprint does not work at all. There is a new Verizon 4G LTE tower across the lake, we have seen speeds up to 15MB from the deck.
You will need to bring your own entertainment for the Cliffhouse. No cable TV planned for the near term.
ATVs - Seasonal riding is allowed on the surrounding US Forest Roads in May - Sept 15. However you need to review ALL the rules very carefully and follow them closely. No two up riding unless machine is specifically designed for such. All kids under 18 must wear helmets. STAY ON THE ROADS. No alcohol. The local rangers enjoy enforcing the rules to the last letter. Its possible for a group of riders to rack up several thousand dollars in fines......

I can't imagine that there's a cabin with a better view in this part of the country. The pictures do not do it justice. The cabin's remote location offers incredible solitude. We did not see or hear another person during our entire 3 day trip. Its certainly off the beaten path, but well worth the effort.

Amazing views- above the clouds!
Amazing views- above the clouds!
We had a very short, but exactly and memorable time! The views from the Great Room windows and deck are simply amazing! We can't wait to come back for longer stay to truly "get away from it all" and relax above the clouds!

The photos only gave a hint of what awaited us. Being there in person... My husband had to drag me away. I found myself depressed that I had to leave and sad that it's four hours away from home. The drive in with our little caravan was exciting, beautiful, and more vertical than i imagined. The views from the cabin were constantly changing, breath-taking, the air magical, the accommodations over the top. The cabin is so remote and presently doesn't have television. It looks like it's wired for tv installation and other electronics, speakers maybe. It was so so nice not having tv! The dock you had for our iPod made our dance party rock. Other little details you provided, well I've never before had every detail covered so luxuriously and generously. From the spotless, luxurious, fully supplied basics (you thought of everything and so kindly provide it for your guests) to the martini maker. Really!? We could have shown up with nothing but a bottle of vodka and not wanted for a single thing. Even the pantry/cabinet was stocked with food supplies. Since running to the store was not an option, having everything we needed was like... Well I felt a lot like royalty. We stayed in a similar cabin in Colorado over Christmas once, breathtaking it was but your personal touches combined with the isolation made our stay at the cliffhouse hands down the best rental experience ever. We brought tents in case camping out was possible and found plenty of room to set up a little campsite nearby. Four spent one night in two tents just to enjoy that for a change. Our party, which was age 23 to 66, and very diverse, all loved it. It was an absolute blast. Thanks for allowing dogs! Our doggie was thankful to be able to come along. Next time I want to understand how to use the generator less. It definitely supplied all our power needs. I could go on and on touting the awesomeness of the cliffhouse. One of a kind! The road down as we were leaving was even full of wonder! Fall folliage spectacular. Great great vacation spot! Only downside: our stay was WAY TOO SHORT!

About the owner: Andy and I love to travel. We have been to many places such as Canada, Mexico, Hawaii and all over the US. We discovered Broken Bow, OK in 2007 when we began Boating and ATV'g. We instantly fell in love with the area. It quickly became our dream to own land inside of the National Forest. We realized our dream April of 2012. Andy and I immediately began construction on our cabin we call The Cliffhouse. We wanted to share our dream with everyone else as well. We invite to come out to The Cliffhouse. You will feel rejuvenated, relaxed and glad you came. Please give us a call or email us with questions.
Why the Owner Chose Broken Bow:
We wanted some acreage for privacy and possible future development.
