Swanage is a truly special place. Designed in keeping with the old Barbadian chattel house tradition, it is tastefully decorated and furnished to make it a definite home away from home.

There are very few beach front villas in Barbados that puts you this close to the sea. Relax on the patio, watch the spectacular sunsets, sip a drink and look down at the ocean literally at your feet.

Located right at the end of the fabulous South Coast Boardwalk The famous Accra (Rockley) Beach is 5 minutes walk up the board walk and Hilton & Coconut Court are both a few minutes walk down the beach.

This villa is very central located right on a public transport route but is also a very tranquil beach front location.

Renting a car is optional as there are many restaurants, shops, banking, tea & coffee houses, bistros & spas within walking distance of the apartment. You can take the public transport to the local grocery store & they will drop you back free of charge.

Hastings Historic Area: Hastings is part of the Historic Garrison Area of Barbados. It is the location of the Old Colonial Officers Quarters and Army Hospital, (now Pavilion Court) It is also the beach entrance to the new Boardwalk. The Savannah consists of the Main Guard, a beautiful Victorian building complete with a large collection of Old Cannons, the Barbados Turf Club (Horse Racing), the Museum, and a vast open area of sports grounds for Rugby, Football, Cricket and Basketball all surrounded by walking and running tracks.

The South Coast Boardwalk: The fantastic new boardwalk runs from Rockley Beach for approximately 1 kilometre towards Bridgetown. The boardwalk starts just below Accra Beach Hotel, running parallel to Hastings Main Road, stopping just short of Coconut Court.

Not only does the boardwalk run side by side to the beautiful turquoise sea and white sand, but it has also been complimented with strategically planned view points and landscaped gardens, to let you enjoy the views of the South Coast and the incredible sunsets.

The multi million dollar project has brought new life to the area, linking hotels and apartments, local restaurants and bars. The boardwalk opened in December 2008 and is being used by tourists and locals, either walking to the beach or local businesses, or simply utilizing the new facility to exercise, meet up with friends and enjoy the views.

Upper Swanage is a fantastic place to stay, the location is wonderful right on a beautiful beach, the view from the apartment was stunning! The apartment was clean and comfortable truely a home from home. Tina and Philip made us very welcome, arranging our transport to and from the airport and welcoming us with a lovely bowl of fresh friut. We would definitely stay here again, two weeks just didn't seem long enough!

We stayed at Upper Swanage for our honeymoon and loved it! When we first arrived, Philip and Tina met us with keys and tons of tips about the island and local area. They were extremely friendly and helpful. The place was even more pretty than in the pictures. We love to cook so we bought fresh fish and ate most of our meals on the back balcony. It has an unreal view of gorgeous water and the beach. It was turtle nesting season and we saw three swim up to shore from our balcony. One laid eggs and we got to watch they whole thing up close. The house is in a great location on the island. Easy access to any place on the island. A maid came twice while we were there and the house is fully equipped with a great kitchen and ipod docking station. Would be awesome for families because of the shallow blocked off beach area. We felt like our spot on the surrounding beach was better than the other surrounding rentals. There are cheap buses that stop right out front and take you anywhere. We rented a motorbike and the roads were very easy to navigate. Everything about Swanage was incredible. Before we got there, we started to question whether we should have done an all-inclusive resort for our honeymoon but we are SO grateful that we picked Swanage. It was so laid back and perfect for our style. It could not have been better. Thanks Philip & Tina!

We spent a week at Upper Swanage and enjoyed every minute of it. This is a delightful traditional Bajan house. The pictures truly represent what it is. The veranda over looks the beach with a perfect swimming area. The sunset views are unsurpassed. It is located at the Hastings end of the boardwalk so it is easy to walk to whatever you want. hastings is an ideal location as you have easy access to everything. Would definitely stay at Upper Swanage again.

Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, age 55+.

* Upper Swanage can also be let as a three bedroom including Lower Swanage (sleeping 7 persons). For rates please contact the manager.
