We designed Adagio as two spacious pavilions separated by a very private sun deck and pool. The design incorporates a free flow of space for large groups as well as being able to ensure privacy for all guests.
Adagio's three-level main pavilion contains the expansive Great Room, graced by a beautiful and extremely well equipped gourmet kitchen and two dining areas, one inside and one outside under the covered deck. To the left looking toward the sea is another covered area with a wet bar with ice maker, beverage fridge and sink with a gas grill along side. The Great Room is also the gathering place for friends and family, with stylish, but comfortable, sofas and chairs. Sliding glass doors open to a wide covered veranda set for outdoor dining or family games and relaxation; this looks out to the beach below and to the 180 degree blue sea vistas.
A staircase from the Great Room curves up to an air-conditioned double-twin bed master bedroom (can be made up as a king). This bedroom has an ensuite bathroom with a tropical glass-block shower and its own private veranda. A second identically sized air-conditioned king bed suite with a private veranda is just off the Great Room, and below, on the lower level accessed by a walkway around the pool deck, is a very large air-conditioned double-twin bedroom, which can be made up as a king with two additional twin beds, and bath ensuite with another private veranda; all twin bed suites may also be made up as king suites with advance notice.
Across the coral stone tiled pool deck is Adagio's second air-conditioned pavilion offering the perfect set-up for families with small children - a king bedroom with ensuite with a set of connecting doors into the adjoining double-twin (or king) suite - roomy and convenient, yet also very private. This pavilion is handicap accessible; a ramp provides easy access up to the Great Room and main veranda areas.
Adagio is beautifully furnished in the Hemingway island style, bright tropical fabrics and lovely artwork, and surrounded by flowering gardens and waving palms. It's well designed to provide generous space for togetherness, and areas throughout for private time as well. Just like its musical name, Adagio provides an island 'slow tempo' in a luxurious, serene and well-equipped setting.

Remote. Tranquil. Pristine. Beautiful. Private. Secluded. Palm Fringed. The beaches of Virgin Gorda come in all shapes and sizes, and each one is unique. They are not only beautiful, but are always uncrowded and very often completely deserted. Palm-fringed, white sandy beaches, combined with a translucent ocean that teems with marine life and coral reefs, attract boaters and landlubbers alike. Snorkel, sail, sunbathe, or shell at any one of these coves. Even avid surfers will be thrilled by the long north swells that roll lazily in during the winter months on North West shores.

Year Purchased: 2002
About the owner: We're Brian and Marion MacDonald and we live in Toronto with our daughter Sarah. If you have any questions about Adagio please don't hesitate to contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Why the Owner Chose Mahoe Bay: Marion and I first visited Virgin Gorda in October, 1996 as a result of a corporate get-together. On that trip we rented three villas for about 20 people and had the time of our lives.
We were seasoned travelers by that time and had been to many of the islands in the Caribbean but the charm of Virgin Gorda and the beach at Mahoe told us that we had found paradise. We vowed to come back as soon as possible. Several months later, a friend of ours called to say that a lot had been released for purchase. We bought the lot virtually sight unseen and on the basis of a site map. After several years of return visits and winding our way through the building approval process, we obtained government permission to build on the lot. Needless to say we came down every few months to renew our vision in terms of the villa layout and overall design. The design process was aided by our stays at some of the other villas at Mahoe Bay. We borrowed concepts and design ideas from many of the other villas on the island and we thank those villa owners for their efforts in having gone ahead and forged the way. The result is that our villa was the last one completed within the Mahoe area and incorporates the best ideas from many of the other villas as well as our own sense of lazy island living.
After several years of work with our builder on the plans for Adagio Villa in 2000 - 2001, we began construction in April, 2001. Adagio was completed in February, 2002. During Christmas 2001 and February 2002 we took delivery of several containers of furniture and appliances from Miami and Canada and set to work decorating the rooms in a style that is very much Caribbean. In March 2002 we proudly opened the villa for guests.
The grounds and gardens were landscaped and planted in 2002 and 2003 and are now fully mature. We hope that you will take some time to stroll through the gardens as we've planted many native plants and other tropical species.
The Unique Benefits at this Villa: Our primary concerns in designing the villa were to maximize the free flow of space to accommodate larger family and group vacations; provide our guests with a very luxurious setting; ensure our guests had private areas to escape the pressures of larger groups; provide a safe environment for children of all ages; and make sure the villa was handicapped accessible as we had elderly parents at the time.
