Marfa villa description

This adorable adobe, originally built in the '30's, offers the best of two worlds in a couple of ways! First, Madrona Home is an old adobe that was stripped to the (adobe) dirt in 2013, and completely remodeled, so it has historic value, while still being comfortable, and fully updated.
Secondly, the home's furnishings reflect our western heritage. For example, you'll use items like towel holders beautifully repurposed from old, used horse shoes, and see original photos of working cowboys. You'll also be able to pamper yourself with my homemade goat milk soaps. In short, you'll get a glimpse of old time ranch life and still be able to walk or ride bikes around Marfa, and visit nearby art galleries and amenities.
Last, Madrona Home is located on the west side of town, close enough to get where you want to go on foot, but far enough away from the center of town so that if you're looking for peace and quiet, you'll be able to get that too. Basically, Madrona Home is a home of whimsical contrasts, that will captivate and delight your imagination!
Madrona Home features a queen bed in the master bedroom, and a double bed in the 2nd bedroom, as well as a daybed in the sun room - all covered with new, top of the line, cozy, linens. It has central air conditioning and heat. It also has a beautiful, secluded patio where you will savor the beauty of the area. There is a carport just outside the house, for you to park your car, and we keep two bicycles on the patio so you can see Marfa up close and personal.
Teryn and I want to welcome you and show you what true West Texas hospitality is, so please let us know if you have special needs, we would be happy to do our best to accommodate you!

              Owner info

              Year Purchased: 2013

About the owner: Teryn and I married after 3 dates, and moved to this area just a few years later. We lived, and reared our children here, in the 'Last Frontier', and we can't imagine living anywhere else! We love the wide open spaces, the climate, and the rugged people who seem to be attracted to the area! We currently live on a ranch 20 miles out of Marfa where we raise cattle, and have a small herd of goats. Teryn is a cowboy and loves working cattle, and doing anything horseback. I ride with him when I can, but I also have a variety of interests. I enjoy making cheeses, soaps, and desserts from milk that I get from our goats. The soaps have turned into a small business, with a friend. Our business is 'Mountain Canary Co-op' and we 'felt' the soaps with fleece from her alpacas. I also enjoy photography, making mosaics, writing, and singing and playing my dulcimer that Teryn made for me. Last, but definitely not least, am a Licensed Professional Counselor. I am lucky to say that counseling is both my profession and my calling. I guess Teryn and I have lives that are both full and fulfilling, I don't know how it could get any better than that!

              Why the Owner Chose Marfa:
The second I saw Madrona Home, in a real estate ad, I fell in love with it! It needed lots of work, but I could easily see it's potential! We bought Madrona Home, as a place to stay when we go to town, and as a place to eventually live when we get too old to live on the ranch. Because we expect to live there someday, we have taken great care in the remodeling process, to use the best available products, and to 'do it right!' Madrona Home is where I let my nesting instinct take over. We named it Madrona Home because I am determined to grow Madrone trees in the yard. Until that happens, Madrona means over- indulgent mother in Spanish. Either way, I figured I couldn't go wrong with that name!

The Unique Benefits at this Villa:
Something about Madrona Home felt like a little Italian villa to me, with it's secluded patio, big yard, cinder block fence, and the detached garage. Somehow it just 'felt' like what I wanted. Teryn knew he was in trouble when we took our first step into the house with the realtor, and saw the beautiful arch separating the living room and the dining area. I couldn't (and still don't) understand why someone didn't snatch it up long before we came along! The location of Madrona Home is great! It's simple to get to, and close enough to any place I might want to go in Marfa, that I can either walk or ride my bike.
