Suntide II condo description
Our condo(Unit #405 at SunTide II) is fully furnished for your comfort and enjoyment. This unit has been undergoing redecorating and updating since 2006 and was completely finished in March 2012, including complete repainting, new tile flooring in both bedrooms, new leather furniture in the living area, 3 new flatscreen TVs, new built-in mircrowave oven, new SileStone counters and sink with hi-rise faucet in kitchen, new marble bathrooms with walk-in shower in master and full tub in guest, new elongated 1-pc toilets, glass shower doors in both baths.
Suntide II is a modern, five-story condominium that is right on the beach of the Gulf of Mexico. It's a block from Blackbeards, one of the best restaurants in South Texas, an easy 2 minute walk away. The street in front of our building, Gulf Blvd, has a wide, clearly-marked walking lane along our side of the street that extends all the way to each end of town, in case you prefer walking on harder surfaces than sand.
One bedroom of #405 is furnished with king size bed catering to adults, with a queen and a twin in the guest BR. In the living area there is a new leather sofa, a new leather loveseat, and a tallboy recliner. The unit is equipped with a modern air conditioning/heating system that can be adjusted and controlled by you during your stay.
Each bedroom has its own full bathroom, HDTV set, DVD/VCR, and ceiling fan. The dining area has a leafed table with six chairs and another ceiling fan. The snackbar separating the kitchen from the dining room has four bar stools. The large living area has a mirrored wall reflecting the gulf and making the living area seem even larger. The large master bedroom has windows facing the Gulf of Mexico with beautiful views of the surf and wonderful surf sounds as sleep-aids.
All TVs have Multi-channel Cable TV (HBO, Encore, Cinemax), with DVD/VHS players, and all 3 TVS are HDTV flatsscreen models. In the living room is a BlueRay DVD/VCR/CD player and stereo AM/FM. This condo has local telephone service with AT&T. The modern kitchen is furnished with complete appliances, ice-making refrigerator, microwave oven, dishes, pots and pans, towels, linens, eating utensils, and a blender.
A large library of books is provided for your reading pleasure. Can't finish a book? --- Take it home with you, but leave one in its place for the next guest to enjoy. An extensive library of classic movies on VHS tapes for children and adults is also kept in the unit.
Sorry, absolutely no pets allowed. Smoking is not permitted indoors but is allowed on the outside front and rear balconies, and on the outdoor decks, pool area, and tennis courts. Please don't feed, strike, or attempt to catch the seagulls flying around the balconies, it is against the law to interfere with them in any way.
You will enjoy an incredible unobstructed view of our expansive beach and the Gulf of Mexico from our long fourth floor balcony with a large collection of modern and comfortable deck furniture. On our western balcony, walk down a few feet north or south and be exposed to beautiful sunsets over Laguna Madre visible in the west. There are a limited number of covered parking places under the tennis court, but plenty of other reserved SuntideII parking in front of the building. Like to play tennis or shuffleboard? Our guests have free use of our private, regulation lighted tennis/shuffleboard court during normal operating hours; rackets and tennis balls on loan in the office.
You can walk out through the gate of our security-fenced swimming pool/deck area right onto the beach and play beach volleyball using the permanent net located right between our building and the Gulf. Another beach access is available along the north side of the building. The pool area and large sundeck are gated and locked for your security, and keys are provided with rentals. Clean towels are available daily at no cost from the well-staffed rental office right on the premises. Coin-op washers and dryers are provided right next to the elevators near the entryway of unit 405, and on two other floors as well.
Our unit is managed by the excellent staff of Suntide II located right on the premises, allowing for quick maid and maintenance service, onsite towels and linen service; and, onsite check-in and check-out during normal business hours and during extended hours on weekends and holidays. We have two excellent elevators serving all five floors of the building and the tennis court.
The beach along this section of South Padre Island slopes very gently out into the Gulf, making for very mild waves, almost no undertow, and wonderfully safe wading for even the smallest child or amateur swimmer. Water temperatures, even in the winter months, remain very mild. Air temperatures are always moderated by the Gulf and are 5-10 degrees cooler in the summer and likewise warmer in the winter. The miles-long smooth sand beaches are wonderful for walking and contemplation. We have never spotted any sharks along our beach, but there are several pods of wild dolphins living out in the Gulf. You can fish right from this beach and catch some of the tastiest eating fish in the world.
Absolutely no motorized vehicles may be driven on the beach within the city limits. However, north of the city limits (approximately 2 miles north of our building) any motor vehicle can gain legal access to the beach and can drive north up the Island on the beach for over 25 miles, all the way to the Mansville Cut. No driving on the sand dunes though, you must stay on the beach with your 4-wheeler because stiff fines are levied for violators in order to protect the sea turtles nesting among the dunes. In some areas of this north beach, seashells cover the sand so thickly that you can't even see the sand for all the shells. All you seashell collectors look for new shells to be washed up daily at high tide.

About the owner: We are Mike and Dee Caddell, owners of Suntide II #405, since about June 2005. We are retired, one from being a corporate patent attorney and the other a school health nurse . We now live in the Valley and also run a consignment store called Treasure Trove Consignments located on the Island at 5504 Padre Blvd; specializing in home decor, books, videos, sporting goods and personal gift items. Why the Owner Chose Suntide II:
The South Texas Coast is the only remaining coastal area in the U.S. with affordable beach property and low living expenses. It is closer to the central U.S. and most of Texas than either Florida or the Mexican resort areas. It is just 30 miles from the Mexican border and offers shopping opportunities in Mexico not found in most other coastal resort areas. Unlike the Galveston/Corpus Christi beach areas, South Padre Island offers clean waters, gently sloping beaches, warm weather all year long, and great watersports, restaurants, shopping, and many other amenities. This is also one of the few beach areas where you are allowed to drive motorized vehicles on the Island along the Gulf side, as long as you stay on the wet flat part of the beach and do not go into the dunes. You can be arrested for driving on the dunes because of the sea-turtles that nest there. Also you can't drive on the beach inside the city limits of the City of South Padre Island, so be sure to drive north on Padre Blvd until you reach one of the public beach accesses, #2,3,4, or 6 before driving over to the beach. Also it's highly recommended that you not try to reach the beach in anything that doesn't have 4-wheel drive. A tow truck will charge more than $100 to come pull you out of the deep sand between the highway and the wet beach sand.

A great wooden elevated party deck with tables and chairs for large outdoor parties and cookouts. SuntideII also has its own beach volleyball court directly behind the building. There is a limited amount of covered parking under our elevated tennis court and plenty of other reserved parking in front of the building and along the side. You can access the beach through our private fenced pool area or use the public elevated walkway just along the north side of our building.
