Owner's Profile

Owner Description

Here is me and my beautiful family. The apartment that I call Fontana del Tritone, now owned by my dad, is part of the inheritance of my paternal grandmother Elsa, who worked in what once was the Hotel Pincio. Probably derives from her my great passion for the welcome which becomes a precious family heritage to be preserved and passed down and forward to all my guests.

The Unique Benefits of this Apartment

The best thing is the balcony overlooking the square.
It is the only balcony on that side of the square Barberini and you can also see the obelisc of Trinità dei Monti, the top of the Spanish Steps!
Restaurants and Pizzarias are everywhere around the piazza but if you want to go to trastevere or somewhere else the metro and the buses are easy to cacht.

The apartment is located perfectly for visitors to Rome. A block away from the Metro is ideal. Five or so blocks from the Spanish Steps and Trevi Fountain. A couple blocks away from a good market (I highly recommend buying food and cooking it there). All the applicances worked great, nice to have the washer there for clothes.

Great location and perfect for families

Very convenient location only 2 blocks from the Barberini Metro stop. We rented both the apartment and the 3rd bedroom unit, which has a separate entrance. The apartment is wonderful, comfortable, and spacious, and the kitchen is fully equipped. The 3rd bedroom is comfortable, but somewhat like a dorm room, and has a very small water heater. However, we managed to make it work out. All in all, we had a great experience here, and we intend to stay at Chiara's apartment again on our next trip to Rome.

Perfect Location

Our stay at the villa was overall very nice. We had enough room for the five of us in the two spacious bedrooms and bathrooms. The bathrooms are a bit smaller than we anticipated, but everything functioned well. There is no "living room" space per say; the kitchen sort of functions as a gathering place, but it's not that big. The hair dryer did not work and made a loud screeching noise when I tried to use it. Be warned if you are a washcloth user: washclothes do not tend to be used or provided in most parts of Europe; this was difficult for me to adjust to. I also felt that the large bed in the yellow room was a little lumpy and hard, not that it wasn't anything I could get used to. Our flight was delayed by 3 hours and I had no way to contact the owner to let her know that. As a result, she had to wait for us to get to the villa and she did not know where we were. She wanted a few extra euros for her wait time. She tried to contact us by computer to find out why we were late, but of course, our computers were back in America. The lack of communication was hard. It would be better if the owner had a phone number to contact her upon landing, and then she could come and meet at the apartment at that point. It was not her fault, nor was it our fault, that we were late, but it inconvenienced everyone. But overall, the villa was as presented. You will love the location; sitting on the balcony, watching all the action of the city, is the best! We spent hours out there. It's also a great location because of the distance to the Spanish Steps and Trevi Fountain. It only takes a few minutes to walk there. I also recommend a visit to the Crypt of the Capuchin Monks, which is at a church right around the corner. I would definitely recommend this villa to my friends and family. If you go, you will have a great time and find everything you need inside and outside the villa. Ciao!

Pictures a bit misleading, but still a good stay

This was a good rental, but not what we expected. First, the positives. This rental is in an EXCELLENT location. One of the rooms directly overlooks the Piazza Barberini, which makes for good people watching. Plus, the square features a metro stop, bus station, restaurants, etc. The restaurant almost under the apt is very nice. The building, quite old, has a lot of character and charm. And the owner was very nice. Now, the negatives. This rental is not quite as upscale and spacious as the pictures make it appear. With 5 adults staying here, we felt cramped, especially as we had expected 3 full bedrooms. Instead, there were 2 bedrooms and a very low-ceilinged loft with a trundle bed. The kitchen could also use a bit of an upgrade to really be nice. The balcony is also relatively narrow, so you won't be able to fit many people up there to enjoy the view. Some of the kitchen items were not clean - we did not feel comfortable using them until we'd cleaned it all. These are relatively small things, and overall we enjoyed our stay, but they can make the difference between choosing this place and another. For 4 people or less, this might be a very nice option.

Owner response:Hi Mary, it was nice to meet you andall your family and I'll consider all your suggestions. I'm sorry for the 3rd bedroom you were expecting to use but you can read on the web that it is available on request and you never mentioned it on your e-mails. I'll do my best to make your next visit perfect. A presto Chiara

Great Location

Three of us stayed in the apartment on Piazza Barberini for a week starting on May 6, 2011. It was a pleasant experience. We found the apartment spacious, clean, and well located for seeing the sights of Rome. It high ceilings give a nice, uncrowded feel to the rooms. There is a metro stop very close and many buses come through the piazza. There is no living room though the kitchen-dining area is large and convenient for looking at guide books and maps as well as for eating. The loft does have TV, though limited seating. Air conditioning worked well and good windows minimized traffic noise. Slight inadequacies include a small, old refrigerator missing one shelf and a light, no electric kettle for tea and coffee and lack of Wi-fi. All in all, the apartment provided an adequate base for our exploration of Rome.

Rome Accommodation

Guest: Peter (Sydney/Australia)
Date of Stay: 04/02/11 Review Submitted: 05/05/11

Location of the apartment is good, within walking distance to most major attractions. However meeting the owner at the apartment on arrival (after a 30 hour flight) might have been a nice touch, but we were inconvenienced by a tradesman who was also present who was installing a curtain rail and curtains into one of the bedrooms. Also on arrival, there was no hot water (as it had just been switched on and it takes minimum 2 hours to heat). Therefore on arrival, we could no have a hot shower because there was not hot water, and we couldn't relax because there was a tradesman present. The apartment photos are somewhat deceptive. The kitchen/meals is very tiny and there is no living area except a tiny loft with very dangerous stairs (that are not appropriate for young children) and a very low ceiling (that is not practical for men/women that are 6 feet tall). The complicated setup of the Cable TV which is located in the loft, did not work for the 4 days of our stay - despite unsuccessful attempts to fix by owners staff. We lived without hot water for 24 hours because the powerpoint switch in the bathroom also controls the hot water unit - a very confusing setup. Although the apartment looks clean to the naked eye, in reality it wasn't. A new or clean sponge would have been appreciated and the floor could use a more frequent mop. Unfortunately we found the owner unreceptive to our issues and certainly didn't take ownership of the issues. The owner was more interested in passing blame as opposed to fixing the problems. Overall - Rome the destination is great, but when we return next time, we will look for alternative accommodation which is hopefully cleaner and where all amenities are in good working order and more user friendly.

Owner response:Peter I am very sorry that your stay has been disturbed by simple questions in my opinion. The escort service from the airport by Mr. Enzo was perfect. Welcome, as I always try to do with maximum professionalism and warmth, plus a complimentary bottle of red wine, you had all the explanations concerning the proper use of the apartment, including the operation of the water heater, which is not as complicated, you only need to understand not to turn off a switch, but I think the tiredness of a long journey did not allow you to follow the full explanations even if you were saying yes at any time. The parable connection was working perfectly at the time of handover, and probably a cable that was subsequently moved and not well repositioned . The ttradesman in question was my husband who was helping me to climb the curtains freshly washed (in order to refute the fact that the apartment isn't clean!). I realize that there are those who want a luxury five-star service, so for your next time in Rome I highly recommend a Four Seasons hotel, but be sure the bill will be a little bit higher, but for an excellent service! We can not always please to everyone (Roberto Benigni)!

( from the apartment guestbook) Dear Chiara, we had a faboulous time here in Rome, we are all going to write rare reviws on your web-site and take fliers home to others. When we return to Rome, we would love to stay here again. The cafe below us has wonderful cappuccinos, and this location is perfect. We were able to walk everywhere the past 4 days, but we are not sure if we will still be able to walk when we get back home. Thank you for arranging our ride with Mr. Enzo, we enjoyed his company very much. With thanks Stephanie & Amy-Kansas City Ashley-Houston Texas Julie-Florida
