great stay, perfect location

Guest: TC (United States)
Date of Stay: 03/17/12 Review Submitted: 04/08/12

Had a wonderful stay at this apartment with our family of seven. The location is beyond perfect and easy to walk to all the major sites, couldn't have been happier. The apartment was clean and spacious, plenty of beds for everyone; we also got the extra room across the hall. Had a few issues with hot water, and not having laundry soap or enough toilet paper. Otherwise accommodations were great and Chiara was nice and helpful. Description was accurate. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to others.

Owner response:Hi Tamara, I'm allways glad to hear that my guests had a good time in Rome and in the apartment. I hope to see you again in the future and to welcome your friends too, ciao Chiara

The apartment is located perfectly for visitors to Rome. A block away from the Metro is ideal. Five or so blocks from the Spanish Steps and Trevi Fountain. A couple blocks away from a good market (I highly recommend buying food and cooking it there). All the applicances worked great, nice to have the washer there for clothes.

Very convenient location only 2 blocks from the Barberini Metro stop. We rented both the apartment and the 3rd bedroom unit, which has a separate entrance. The apartment is wonderful, comfortable, and spacious, and the kitchen is fully equipped. The 3rd bedroom is comfortable, but somewhat like a dorm room, and has a very small water heater. However, we managed to make it work out. All in all, we had a great experience here, and we intend to stay at Chiara's apartment again on our next trip to Rome.

Perfect Location

Guest: Carla S.
Date of Stay: 07/09/11 Review Submitted: 07/19/11

Our stay at the villa was overall very nice. We had enough room for the five of us in the two spacious bedrooms and bathrooms. The bathrooms are a bit smaller than we anticipated, but everything functioned well. There is no "living room" space per say; the kitchen sort of functions as a gathering place, but it's not that big. The hair dryer did not work and made a loud screeching noise when I tried to use it. Be warned if you are a washcloth user: washclothes do not tend to be used or provided in most parts of Europe; this was difficult for me to adjust to. I also felt that the large bed in the yellow room was a little lumpy and hard, not that it wasn't anything I could get used to. Our flight was delayed by 3 hours and I had no way to contact the owner to let her know that. As a result, she had to wait for us to get to the villa and she did not know where we were. She wanted a few extra euros for her wait time. She tried to contact us by computer to find out why we were late, but of course, our computers were back in America. The lack of communication was hard. It would be better if the owner had a phone number to contact her upon landing, and then she could come and meet at the apartment at that point. It was not her fault, nor was it our fault, that we were late, but it inconvenienced everyone. But overall, the villa was as presented. You will love the location; sitting on the balcony, watching all the action of the city, is the best! We spent hours out there. It's also a great location because of the distance to the Spanish Steps and Trevi Fountain. It only takes a few minutes to walk there. I also recommend a visit to the Crypt of the Capuchin Monks, which is at a church right around the corner. I would definitely recommend this villa to my friends and family. If you go, you will have a great time and find everything you need inside and outside the villa. Ciao!

Pictures a bit misleading, but still a good stay

Guest: mk27 (USA)
Date of Stay: 05/13/11 Review Submitted: 06/08/11

This was a good rental, but not what we expected. First, the positives. This rental is in an EXCELLENT location. One of the rooms directly overlooks the Piazza Barberini, which makes for good people watching. Plus, the square features a metro stop, bus station, restaurants, etc. The restaurant almost under the apt is very nice. The building, quite old, has a lot of character and charm. And the owner was very nice. Now, the negatives. This rental is not quite as upscale and spacious as the pictures make it appear. With 5 adults staying here, we felt cramped, especially as we had expected 3 full bedrooms. Instead, there were 2 bedrooms and a very low-ceilinged loft with a trundle bed. The kitchen could also use a bit of an upgrade to really be nice. The balcony is also relatively narrow, so you won't be able to fit many people up there to enjoy the view. Some of the kitchen items were not clean - we did not feel comfortable using them until we'd cleaned it all. These are relatively small things, and overall we enjoyed our stay, but they can make the difference between choosing this place and another. For 4 people or less, this might be a very nice option.

Owner response:Hi Mary, it was nice to meet you andall your family and I'll consider all your suggestions. I'm sorry for the 3rd bedroom you were expecting to use but you can read on the web that it is available on request and you never mentioned it on your e-mails. I'll do my best to make your next visit perfect. A presto Chiara

Great Location

Guest: John (Madison, WI)
Date of Stay: 05/06/11 Review Submitted: 05/16/11

Three of us stayed in the apartment on Piazza Barberini for a week starting on May 6, 2011. It was a pleasant experience. We found the apartment spacious, clean, and well located for seeing the sights of Rome. It high ceilings give a nice, uncrowded feel to the rooms. There is a metro stop very close and many buses come through the piazza. There is no living room though the kitchen-dining area is large and convenient for looking at guide books and maps as well as for eating. The loft does have TV, though limited seating. Air conditioning worked well and good windows minimized traffic noise. Slight inadequacies include a small, old refrigerator missing one shelf and a light, no electric kettle for tea and coffee and lack of Wi-fi. All in all, the apartment provided an adequate base for our exploration of Rome.

Rome Accommodation

Guest: Peter (Sydney/Australia)
Date of Stay: 04/02/11 Review Submitted: 05/05/11

Location of the apartment is good, within walking distance to most major attractions. However meeting the owner at the apartment on arrival (after a 30 hour flight) might have been a nice touch, but we were inconvenienced by a tradesman who was also present who was installing a curtain rail and curtains into one of the bedrooms. Also on arrival, there was no hot water (as it had just been switched on and it takes minimum 2 hours to heat). Therefore on arrival, we could no have a hot shower because there was not hot water, and we couldn't relax because there was a tradesman present. The apartment photos are somewhat deceptive. The kitchen/meals is very tiny and there is no living area except a tiny loft with very dangerous stairs (that are not appropriate for young children) and a very low ceiling (that is not practical for men/women that are 6 feet tall). The complicated setup of the Cable TV which is located in the loft, did not work for the 4 days of our stay - despite unsuccessful attempts to fix by owners staff. We lived without hot water for 24 hours because the powerpoint switch in the bathroom also controls the hot water unit - a very confusing setup. Although the apartment looks clean to the naked eye, in reality it wasn't. A new or clean sponge would have been appreciated and the floor could use a more frequent mop. Unfortunately we found the owner unreceptive to our issues and certainly didn't take ownership of the issues. The owner was more interested in passing blame as opposed to fixing the problems. Overall - Rome the destination is great, but when we return next time, we will look for alternative accommodation which is hopefully cleaner and where all amenities are in good working order and more user friendly.

Owner response:Peter I am very sorry that your stay has been disturbed by simple questions in my opinion. The escort service from the airport by Mr. Enzo was perfect. Welcome, as I always try to do with maximum professionalism and warmth, plus a complimentary bottle of red wine, you had all the explanations concerning the proper use of the apartment, including the operation of the water heater, which is not as complicated, you only need to understand not to turn off a switch, but I think the tiredness of a long journey did not allow you to follow the full explanations even if you were saying yes at any time. The parable connection was working perfectly at the time of handover, and probably a cable that was subsequently moved and not well repositioned . The ttradesman in question was my husband who was helping me to climb the curtains freshly washed (in order to refute the fact that the apartment isn't clean!). I realize that there are those who want a luxury five-star service, so for your next time in Rome I highly recommend a Four Seasons hotel, but be sure the bill will be a little bit higher, but for an excellent service! We can not always please to everyone (Roberto Benigni)!

Die Lage der Wohnung ist perfekt

Guest: schoco (Spenge, NRW, Deutschland)
Date of Stay: 03/16/11 Review Submitted: 03/28/11

Owner response:Halo, mein Deutch is nicht so gut.

We had a wonderful, if short, stay at Chiara's charming apartment. It is located perfectly for sightseeing--many sights are in walking distance and the Metro is just across the square for attractions further out. Choice of many restaurants, and more importantly gelato shops, nearby. The apartment was spotless, and perfectly appointed for our family. We've already recommended it to our friends and look forward to returning! (we did throw coins in the Trevi fountain, so know we'll be back)

Owner response:Hi Cathy, it's always a pleasure to welcome you. I promizse to keep the apartment in perfect order for your next trip to Rome. A presto Chiara

Our family spent 10 days in the apartment over Thanksgiving. This apartment has everything you need and its location is perfect. The balcony overlooks the Piazza Barberini and is steps from the metro to take you everywhere. Many wonderful sights are within walking distance, and I recommend getting a Roma Pass, a map and seeing the sights (note the Roma Pass is good for only three days and the map is OK but oftentimes didn't have enough street detail). Pickup by Enzo is a must and Chiara was very helpful in getting it all coordinated. I would absolutely recommend this to a friend or relative, and I would stay here again. We even threw some coins into the Trevi Fountain to ensure our return to Rome.

Owner response:Dear Staci, I'm so happy to read that your first time in Rome was as good as you expected it! I wait for your next trip cause your coins will bring you here again! See you next Chiara

So close to everything we wanted to see + do and either a short or quick walk or inexpensive taxi ride "home"! Thow your coins in the Trevi Fountain so you will return to Rome, we did. We had a wonderful stay here with four adults. Chiara is a lovely, hospitable host. Thank you Chiara for the bottle of wine, we really enjoyed it! I would highly recommend taking advantage of the pick up service. We were met promptly at the airport by the charming Mr. Enzo, he pointed out the various sites on the drive to the apartment. He also settled us into the apartment nicely. The apartment is accurately described, well maintained, and very clean. We actually found the apartment to be more spacious than expected. The apartment was nicely furnished, beds are comfortable, nice linens, and plenty of towels. Loved, loved, loved the balcony!!! It was great sitting/standing out there people watching and there is such a nice view of the Tritone Fountain directly across the street. You can't beat the location!! We walked easily to and from just about everywhere, the Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, Villa Borghese, Piazza Navona, Campo de' Fiori, Pantheon, etc. We did take the metro to the Colosseum and the Vatican, access to the metro is conveniently located right up the street. While the Piazza Barberini area is pretty busy, the apartment is quiet we did not hear much outside noise. Across the street (kitty corner) from the apartment is Pepy's and Whites. Pepy's has great sandwiches and the gelato at Whites is good. There is another place across the street that has good kabob type sandwiches. We found a small supermarket near the Trevi Fountain, and grocery prices are amazingly inexpensive. We hope to return to Rome, and would not hesitate to stay here again!

The description of the apartment is quite accurate, although i would say the kitchen/lounge is smaller than it looks on the photos, the apartment itself was spotless, with clean bedding, towels etc, plenty of hot water. you do get quite a bit of noise from the roads outside, but it is worth it for the location, you are only a stroll away from the spanish steps, and the trevi fountain, and the restaurants around there are great, especially the one directly under the kitchen area, as the owner says about every meal, it is special. The only down side of the apartment was trying to contact the owner chiara, we were supposed to be picked up at the airport but no one arrived to collect us as the driver had gone to the wrong airport, although we had chiaras phone number it just went to answer phone so we had to take a taxi into Rome not knowing if there would be anyone there to meet us.I would advise anyone going to chiaras to take a taxi as it is more reliable, and 15 euros cheaper each way.

Owner response:Thank you for having visited me. Very sorry for the misunderstanding about the airport...and I was in a very depressed village where my cell phone didn't want to work at all! Finally Mr. E. the driver found you at the door and let you checking in. He is the best driver you can have (not only the best roman guide) and he's worth few more euro than a normal taxi. Hope to give you a more suitable welcome next time.

(from the apartment guestbook) Chiara, thank you for having us to stay in your lovely Barberini apartment. I looved looking at the piazza-day and night- from the balcony. I loved the Fontana di Barberini (Tritone) and the pictures you have in the apartment of the fountain- going back in time from different angles- but most of them showing this apartment with it's second floor balcony. I loved that you and your family have an historical connection to this building and piazza. I agree with your previous guests that the apartment was confortable and ideally located. Thank you for the lovely bottle of red wine which we consumed with take away pizzas. The boys really appreciated the DVDs and discovered the Blues Brothers-a classic movie! After that, they had to have the Blues Brothers T-shirts for suite in the bookshop on via Veneto. Thanks again, Karen and family Perth, Western Australia

This apartment is very much as it described, the photographs are true to life and the apartment is very clean and well appointed. I stayed for a week in September with my partner and 2 friends and we had everything we needed for a comfortable and enjoyable holiday and having the balcony was a great bonus, not only for the smoker in our party, we spent quite sometime just sitting there watching the world go by, which was much needed after all that culture! The location is very convenient being within easy walking distance of many of the sites and just a minute from the metro, buses and a taxis rank, not that we needed to use any of them. It was great walking out of the front door of the apartment block and being “there” no need for a journey into town you are there with everything going on all around you. Booking and paying for the apartment was very straight forward and Chiara was very helpful making things much easer for us by arranging a pick up from the airport and recommending a restraint for a special birthday meal, it was reassuring to know we could call her if needs be and it was nice of her to take the time to come and see us halfway through our stay. I have no hesitation in recommend this apartment.

Owner response:Thank you very much Elizabeth. It was a real pleasure to meet you and your friends and to spend some time with you knowing about your stay, your nice and long walks around the city and to the Vatican! And talk about your plans for the next day (a little bit of relax!). It was also important for knowing that the wc cover had to be replaced (thing that i did!) I was happy to know that you could spend a nice birthday evening at the restaurant I suggested you. The most important thing to me is to know that you'll keep a good souvenir of your Italian holiday. Hope to see you in the future! Ciao

Hidden Gem

Date of Stay: 09/05/10 Review Submitted: 09/25/10

This was our first trip to Rome and so we had very high expectations. We were met at the airport by a wonderful man named Enzo who practically drove all the way to the apartment without using his hands because he was using them to tell us a story. He was hilarious and a great way to get us in the mood for a terrific vacation. At first all you see is a large door in the wall but then you enter and go upstairs to the first floor and the apartment was exactly as shown on the website and the bedrooms were unusually large and the beds very comfy. I thought it was going to be very noisy since the apartment looks out on a very busy square and the traffic is horrendous at times but once we closed the windows it was very quiet. The apartment had about everything you could want except either a kettle or a teapot. We found the same thing in Venice so I guess these items are not that popular in Italy. We found a supermarket not far away; if you turn right as you come out of the apartment, go down the street about 500 yards you will see a tunnel to your left and that is where you find the store. You can buy food, milk, beer, wine etc. We were within walking distance to just about every sight, The Coliseum, Roman Forum, Trevi Fountain, Pantheon, Palantine Hill. It means a lot of walking but if you are up for it then it's truly worth it because you see so much more on the way. It was a memorable trip made even better due to the fact that our accomodations were wonderful.

This apartment is lovely! It is spacious, clean, well maintained and is is the perfect position for exploring Rome. Our girls loved the mezzanine, and the balcony was such a great place to sit and watch time passing by! We adored Rome, the Trevi fountain at night was lovely! There is so much to see here - it is the most fabulous city. We will definately be back, and would not hesitate in staying here again. Also, Enzo was the most fascinating man! It was so nice to be met at the airport by a friendly face, who had so much advice to give. Whites ice cream was lovely, but everywhere we went in Italy it was lovely there too! Thank you Chiara and Enzo for making our last few days in Italy so perfect!

Our stay in this apartment was great. Located within a five minute walking distance to the Trevi Fountain and the Spanish Steps and situated right on the Piazza Barberini made it just that much more special. We arrived in the middle of a European heatwave and were so grateful for the airconditioning. My children loved the fact that they had their own ensuite style toilet and we loved sitting out on the verandah in the evenings watching the traffic and tourists who walked past. We were also grateful for a handful of family type dvds that were great for 'wind down' time in the evenings. Chiara proved a thoughtful host and we were thankful for her organising of a car to take us to the airport on our final day. In all, our experiences in Rome were made more memorable by our stay here and we would definitely choose to stay here again if ever we are in Rome.

We had a great time in Chiara's apartment. It's a clean, well maintained, comfortable apartment with plenty of facilities - it just needs a kettle! The yellow bedroom is lovely and the green bedroom was great for our two boys. They also enjoyed watching dvds on the tv. The apartment is in a really good position - you can walk to all of the sites from here, or you can catch the metro or a bus from the Piazza. There are good shops nearby to buy food and we recommend White's for ice creams and Pepi's bar! A great place to stay.

Close to everything but away from the crowd

Guest: G. DJ (CT, USA)
Date of Stay: 03/21/10 Review Submitted: 03/29/10

We had the pleasure to stay at this charming apartment during our very recent visit to Rome. The apartment itself doesn't have a lot of bells and whistles. The absence of a lift/elevator didn't bother us at all, but it would have been a big plus if there was one. The apartment had everything one would ever need to have a very comfortable Rome vacation. The rooms were bright and clean, and the balcony overlooking Bernini's Triton fountain on Piazza Barberini is the best place to watch Rome wake up in the morning, and go to sleep at night. Perhaps my favorite thing about this apartment is it's location. It is central to everything yet away from the crowd. It's a stone-throw away from Via Veneto, 5 minutes walk to the Spanish steps and the Trevi Fountain, 7 minutes walk to the Pantheon (3 minutes from Trevi Fountain), and 10 minutes walk to the Piazza Navona with it's very impressive Fontana dei Quattro Fiumi (Fountain of the Four Rivers). Villa Borghese is also not that far away. If you're feeling adventurous and energetic, you can walk to the Colosseum. But, if your feet are tired, you can easily hop on the Metropolitano just a block away and take a ride to see the ancient ruins or head towards St. Peter's Basilica and the Vatican. It's the perfect location to see what Rome has to offer. The icing on the cake is working with the owner, dear Chiara, who answered every questions I had about the property and the area. She was cordial and accomodating. She even arranged for a car pick-up/drop-off from/to the airport. And, when we arrived at the apartment, we were greeted with our first bottle of Italian wine. It was definitely a good way to start a vacation.

OMG what a place to stay. My mother, 2 daughters and 2 grandsons 10yrs stayed here for spring break. Could NOT ask for better location. If you have not been to Rome everything is walking distance from this location. It has a balcony, great rooms, This is everything they say and more. When we return to Rome we will stay again. When we travel we like to stay all together, and we rent homes or flats. You will not regret this apt. You must be able to walk 2 sets of steps but not bad at all. Perfect, stay March was a great time to go. Not very many tourist, weather was wonderful for us no rain./winter sales were on. Shopping, food, anything and everything walking distance. Thank you so much for making our famlies memories! Loft area for the boys to watch TV play video games in the evening.

( from the apartment guestbook) Dear Chiara, we had a faboulous time here in Rome, we are all going to write rare reviws on your web-site and take fliers home to others. When we return to Rome, we would love to stay here again. The cafe below us has wonderful cappuccinos, and this location is perfect. We were able to walk everywhere the past 4 days, but we are not sure if we will still be able to walk when we get back home. Thank you for arranging our ride with Mr. Enzo, we enjoyed his company very much. With thanks Stephanie & Amy-Kansas City Ashley-Houston Texas Julie-Florida

we had the most wonderful time in your beautiful apartment. We espaecially loved sitting out on the balcony looking at life going by the Piazza. The central location is also great. Sorry we didn't get to meet you in person and good luck with the baby. Hopefully we will all be back in Rome someday and able to see you again.

I have been in this property together with 4 more friends and we felt very well in the apartment. We found it clean and with enough lingery and household. The bedrooms are very comfortable and the kitchen enough for breakfasts and soft dinners. To highlight its situation, very close to Piazza Spagna and surroundings, as well as famous Via Veneto and you can almost hear the music coming from the water of wonderful Fontana di Trevi. We visited it and made pictures in the morning, in the afternoon, at night....always full of people even under the rain. I would recommend the apartment to my friends.

We have stayed here several times and feel like it is our home too. The location is amazing and the balcony is the best! You can sit and watch the world go by! This place is just down the road from the Spanish steps, and is in the Triton fountain square! Great walking location to many restaurants and popular sites. Can't wait to come back!
