You will appreciate the quiet natural surroundings that include fabulous mountain-fresh air, spectacular sunrises and sunsets, native wildlife and trails for hiking to your heart’s content. A four-wheel drive or all-wheel drive vehicle (such as a Subaru) will have no difficulty driving to the top, but two wheel drive vehicles will need to park at the lower parking area and guests will be driven to their lodging by the owners.
The Island in the Sky is located at the top of the mountain but it takes about 20 minutes to get to Asheville and 20 minutes to Biltmore Estate.
We are dog lovers and welcome any well behaved dog. For you photography folks, take in the natural surroundings along with the wildlife and our free roaming pet, Bert the Emu, who has lived here for the past 10 years.
