About this property

Beautiful Kona Sunsets at the Kona Reef

A very comfortable and well-appointed, beach-front condominium with a beautiful lanai ocean view overlooking Honl's Beach and looking out to sea and on south down the Kona Coast. The Kona Reef is just a few minutes walk to the center of the scenic village of Kailua-Kona and its wonderful variety of restaurants, history, shopping, and magnificent views. Kailua-Kona has some of the best weather in the Hawaiian Islands, averaging only 20 inches of rain a year, and moderate temperatures of 70 to 85 degrees throughout the year with light afternoon breezes that keep the humidity in a comfortable range of 60% to 75%.

The beach-side pool and jacuzzi are just 50 feet from the ocean surf and provide incredible views of some of the most magnificent sunsets in the world. It is accompanied by a covered pool cabana with barbecues and tables for great outdoor dining. The beachfront lawn provides additional lounges for enjoying the sun and surf and provides access to adjoining Honl's Beach, popular with local surfers, snorkelers, sunbathers and swimmers.

The Kona Reef's unique location directly on the ocean and at the very edge of town make it one of the most popular condominium resorts on the Kona Coast.

Caution
The photos did not represent the unit. There was an active termite infestation/hatch. We woke up to dead termites and piles of castings every morning. The owner was apologetic and gave us a small refund which we used to spend two nights elsewhere for a break from the mess. This unit should be taken out of the rental pool until the problem is solved. The view from the lanai is gorgeous-look over Honl’s beach to the ocean. Best location for walking to old Kona town.

Great location,, property needs updating
Great location (on the beach, great sunsets, next door beach is nice) and the owner was most helpful and responsive to our concerns...HOWEVER, property could use a deep cleaning and updating - the VRBO pictures of the condo were deceptive: floors were a mess, dishes dirty and probable termite infestation evident. The owner (Debbe, next door) was very understanding and gave us full refund for time remaining.

False advertising
Don't stay here if you expect to have air conditioning. There is one tiny window unit in the living room, at the opposite end of the space to the bedroom and it is completely ineffective. I couldn't sleep because the unit was too hot. The bedroom is located next to a walkway so it was very noisy with windows open to help with the cooling. The dishwasher didn't work, the light in the kitchen was broken, the lock on the patio door was broken and the unit was not clean - dirty floor and bathroom. The owner was not responsive to requests to address issues.

Beautiful stay in great location
This was a great find with nice views of the beach and a complex with pool/hot tub/grill at an affordable price. It was right next to a pretty beach and easy access to things walking distance in Kona and center for driving all over the island. It had great options for grilling, cooking in and had snorkel gear and beach towels, chairs to use for the day out. The bed could use updating as it was quite firm but everything else made up for it x10. We had a great stay!
