Casa Picaflores combines the space of a vacation house with many of the services of a bed & breakfast. Nestled in six acres of rain forest, the Casa Picaflores property is bordered on one side, deep in the jungle, by a tributary of the Rio Blanco river, which cascades down from high peaks just above us.
We strive to outdo our competition by providing warm, gracious hospitality and attention to detail. Our optional breakfasts are large, with seasonal fruits, meats, and sweets like waffles, stuffed french toast, and pancakes. Optional catered dinners in our private dining room / honor bar allow you to stay home and not do dishes.
The eastern end of Puerto Rico has gorgeous beaches, striking mountains, and easy access to the smaller islands off the coast. The noise and traffic of San Juan are replaced by cooler air, the singing of coqui frogs and country lanes.
The main guest house has two bedrooms, plus an entertainment center with one futon in it. The master bedroom has a queen bed and private bathroom and walk-in closet, as well as a window unit air conditioner. The other bedroom has two twin beds which can be converted into a king upon request.
The living room is appointed in tasteful, plush rattan furniture. In the back of the house, a large, tiled patio is a great place to enjoy a grapefruit, orange, soursop or starfruit picked from our trees, or to have dinner under the stars. Parents can let the kids stray a little bit, as the property is completely enclosed.
There is also a casita available for rent in the Casa Picaflores compound, created to be a clean, no-frills place for one person or a couple to lay their heads for a few nights. Casita Zumbador is a small, one room + bathroom unit for 1-2 people. The bed is a full-size futon which can be folded up during the day for additional space. There is a small deck out in the front of the cabin, overlooking the casita's yard and fruit trees. The casita rents for $45-$55 per night (not including breakfast) plus tax, depending on the season.
Other organic fruits on the property include coconut, bananas, breadfruit, avocado, lychee, caimito, jackfruit, tangerine, lime, lemon, passion fruit, guava, pomelo, sour orange, and acerola. Walk among the heliconias, bird-of-paradise, wild ginger, torch ginger, orchids, and bougainvillea around the house.
