The North Shore of Oahu is a beach-goers paradise. There are dozens of world class beaches to choose from including Waimea Bay, Sunset Beach and Pipeline. The North Shore is a surfer's mecca. Every winter surfers flock to the 'seven mile miracle' from all over the world to surf the North Shore. Although most of the breaks are for experts only, there are several great beginner and intermediate spots to experience. Haleiwa town is the urban capital of the North Shore and it still retains that old Hawaiian charm of 'Old Hawaii' with it's colorful wooden store-fronts, art galleries and surf shops. Haleiwa is a must-do when visiting the North Shore. Visit one of the local surf shops, treat yourself to a shave ice or shop for local gifts. The North Shore has unlimited other activities besides surfing and shopping. Snorkeling and diving are extremely popular and some of the local reefs including Shark's Cove are world famous. There are plenty of hiking trails and biking trails along the North Shore including the North Shore bike path which runs all the way from Sunset Beach to Waimea Bay. Rent a beach cruiser bike in Haleiwa and cruise the shore. Every winter the pacific's gentle giants, the humpback whales migrate along the North Shore of Oahu. Whales can often been seen breaching out of the water just offshore and whale watching and even shark-cage tours can be booked in Haleiwa.

About: My name is Douglas; I was born and raised in California. One thing people know about me is that Hawaii is my favorite place in the world. I have had the great fortune of traveling to over 75 countries and Hawaii is still my favorite destination by far. I fell in love with the place when I decided to attend college on Oahu's North Shore. Hawaii was like nothing I ever experienced: the people were friendly, the water was clear and warm just like the air and there never seemed to be any shortage of outdoor activities. While in college I fell in love with the sport of surfing and started surfing the North Shore every day after school. I also took a real interest in the Polynesian people and culture. This interest has taken me to various parts of oceania besides Hawaii including: Tahiti, Samoa, Tonga, Vanuatu, Papua New Guinea and Fiji. Fortunately my friends and family all seem to share some of my passion for Hawaii and it has truly become a real gathering place for those close to me. When I'm not in Hawaii, I am a teacher and sales representative. I also lived in Brazil for two years doing volunteer work for my church; I speak fluent Portuguese and I'm learning Spanish. In my spare time I love hiking, camping, biking, swimming, traveling (obviously!) photography and travel writing. I have recently gotten interested in surf photography and have had several photographs published in magazines. I have also written a non-fiction travel book entitled 'To The Depths of Brazil' about an expedition some friends and I took to the Amazon Jungle in Brazil. I would like to welcome you into my home and hopefully Hawaii will captivate you as it has me and you will truly feel the spirit of Aloha during your stay.
Aloha and Mahalo!
Why Turtle Bay: I first came to Hawaii with my family in 1996 and we stayed in one of the condos at Turtle Bay. My family instantly fell in love with the place. It is so much more mellow in the 'country' than down in Waikiki. We loved the peaceful, relaxed pace on the North Shore, the lush, green landscape, the infinite pristine beaches and the real local Polynesian culture. The Turtle Bay condos seemed to bring all of that to our doorstep. There was an infinite amount of outdoor activities there: surfing, snorkeling, walking and biking trails, horseback riding, golfing, tennis, the list goes on and on.
The Unique Benefits at this Condo: Within a 7 minute walk of your condo there is terrific snorkeling, surfing, horseback riding, bike trails, golfing, tennis courts, tidepooling, beaches to relax on, deserted beaches, running trails etc.
