A marble shop since the 16th century - renovated into a comfortable apartment located within the historic city walls and the walls of ancient Roman theater, on the upper portion of the city, provides a tranquil, comfortable, and easy location to visit Assisi and the surrounding villages of Umbria-Gubbio, Todi, Terni, Orvietto, Perugia, Spoleto, Spello, etc.
The train station is only a 10 minute drive away and the bus can drop you off less than fourth of a block from the house. The Piazza del Comune (the center of Assisi) is about two blocks from the apartment!
The apartment has easy on-site parking within a secured gate included in the rental price. There are outdoor tables and chairs on private terrace. Caretaker (who lives next door) speaks excellent English and Italian.
Owner and resident, an American, is renting out her home during those times when she travels to work on her book of sacred sites around the world. She also is a chef-so the kitchen is well-equipped.
Apartment is a large two bedroom. The apartment is rented as either a one bedroom or a two bedroom with prices varying according to the desired number of bedrooms. The main guest room has an en-suite bathroom with shower and bidet. The second large bathroom has tub with separate shower, a bidet and a washing machine.
Guest bedroom can be made up with two single beds or, as shown in photo,what is called matrimonial size (a bit larger than an American queen-size). Specify upon reserving.
ADSL internet and computer with printer is in the unit. Telephone/fax machine charges are based on your use with nominal long distance charges to the States and Europe.
There are two steps going down from the parking area to the front door and two steps from the living room to the kitchen/bedroom area.
Instructions for all the utilities, appliances, television and computer-telephone are provided in an easy to follow manual along with maps of the city and other information to make your stay in Assisi easy-so you can enjoy this remarkable, peaceful area fully.
