Atascadero cottage description
Welcome! This charming 1920's 2 bedroom 1 bath Craftsman style home is located on one acre and less than 2 miles from the heart of Atascadero.
You can travel in any direction and explore some great places in SLO County. There is Paso Robles Wine country, Paso Robles Event Center with the Mid-State Fair and Lake Nacimiento to the north, to the east there is the Carizzo Plains National Monument, to the west there is Morro Bay, Cayucos and the Pacific Ocean, to the North West there is Cambria, San Simeon including scenic Hwy 1, and to the south there is quaint Santa Margarita and Santa Margarita Lake, San Luis Obispo, Grover and Pismo Beach. San Luis Obispo County also boasts the Los Padres National Forest with plenty of hiking trails that can be accessed near Atascadero.
The Cottage was simply built in the 1920's and updated with function in mind. It is one of the original Colony homes in Atascadero. It is well suited for four people. It has a front porch with rockers that you can enjoy the evenings on...even take your meal there. There are two bedrooms; one with a queen size bed and the other with a double bed. Both have a dresser and a closet in their rooms. A full size oven and stove, microwave, dishwasher and full size refrigerator are provided in the kitchen. The bathroom is equipped with a shower/tub combination and a heater for your comfort. There is a BBQ in the back yard that is stored in the shed near the house, and a table and chairs for outdoor use. There are a number of oak trees on the property which gives the front yard a park like setting. Deer meander through the yard each evening and you might even see a turkey every now and then. Walk the 'San Clemente loop' and enjoy the diverse architecture of homes and landscaping along the route.
Interesting points of Atascadero: There is fabulous weather. The average high in the summer is 90 degrees, low is 56. The winter highs are 62 and lows are 37. The summers can be gorgeous with warm days and evenings. There is a great park and lake where you can rent paddle boats, canoes, feed the ducks or have a family gathering and rent BBQ pits. Located near the park is the Charles Paddock Zoo. Atascadero hosts many events such as wine tasting, Christmas in the Park and other holiday events each weekend in December, and a summer concert series. Home away from Home
Home away from Home
We had such a nice relaxing time at this little gem. The home was neat and tidy. We used the BBQ and kitchen quite a bit and it was very big and roomy. Only thing missing was salt which I plan on bringing next time I'm up. We made use of the soft cooler that was provided and the mayo packets. I will also bring baggies, paper towels and carcoal briquettes the next time we're up. There were some present but I wasn't sure if I should use them or not. We enjoyed the new TV watching the Olympics. And my step son had fun with the video games. The home has a beautiful Oak Tree out front and we had a visit in the morning by the local deer. We went to the large swap meet in Nipomo and went for a drive to Morro Bay. Paso Robles is very close by as well. What more can be said, the Central Coast of California is so beautiful. Can't wait to return. Thank you Donna for everything.

Owner response: Cathy, Thank you for your review. It is my hope that travelers can experience the relaxation and ease of use that you have mentioned. Thank you too for replenishing the supplies like the paper towels and baggies, I appreciate it. The charcoal is there for your use as well. There is salt...it is in a mason jar above the microwave, I will mark the jar. I am glad you were able to experience the Central Coast with your family. I think the area has a lot to explore...don't forget the Charles Paddock Zoo right here in Atascadero! We look forward to your next visit! Donna
I rented this charming home to house overflow family during the Xmas holiday. It was perfectly comfortable and cozy. My nephew and his family found that it was a nice getaway in this quiet country setting. There is no television or sound system on the property but it was easy enough fix with plenty of our own portable devices to keep children occupied. It was nice to be out of town yet close enough to make local shopping, restaurants, movies and even wine tasting very accessible. An easy recommendation and the owners made everything very simple for us. Thank you!

Wonderful ambiance, comfortable cottage
Wonderful ambiance, comfortable cottage
What a neat, wonderful cottage! It is very well maintained, modern, updated, clean, attractive, and just plain fun! The beds were very comfortable and the kitchen had everything we needed. We didn't stay there much, only to eat and sleep, but if we get back to Paso Robles we will definitely try to stay here. Donna was very nice, friendly, and extremely helpful. The cottage is conveniently located but has a nice country setting to it. This was a very good find for us and we highly recommend it.

Year Purchased: 1981
About the owner: Charles and I bought this house just before we got married in 1981. While we have moved for employment, this home has never been far from our minds, and we love it. Our daughter Sarah lives next door and will help you get settled or give you some great tips about the town.
Why the Owner Chose Atascadero:
When we were engaged to be married we knew that our first order of business was to buy a home. Finding the right home proved to be hard and nothing seemed to satisfy us both. Then the realtor brought us to this little home on an acre. As we turned into the drive way and our eyes settled on the front porch, we knew we had found home.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
While we have neighbors around us, the property has a very rural feel. There is a church across the street, so it is busy on Sunday mornings, otherwise fairly quiet during the week. The house is located on a hill. Many people walk this street for exercise and has been nicknamed the San Clemente Loop. No two houses or properties are alike, so it is interesting to walk the loop or 'block' and see the different houses and landscaping. You know what I love about this neighborhood? First off the neighbors on either side are great (one is my daughter...of course I would say that!). The second thing I love is the way it smells, the grass especially in the summer with the oaks has an earthy fragrance that just seems to help relax me.
