Our stay was great - the house was immaculate, conveniently located near town and ski resorts, and backed up to a great sledding / snowball-fighting open space. This was our 2-year-old daughter's first trip to the snow, and the house helped make for a great experience. We will definitely return!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, families with young children, sightseeing.

This home was very clean, which was appreciated, but austere, with relatively uncomfortable beds (all were slept in). The sofas have iron on patches covering holes on the arms. There was no dish soap or paper towels and only 1/10 a roll of toilet paper (which is very inconvenient if you are arriving late in the night). I don't mind buying paper goods if notified to do so in advance, but there should be dish soap. The owner did not email us directions and information about accessing the home until we contacted her. There actually is NO WIFI available, though it is advertised as available (this was critical for us and was a great hardship) and when we called the owner about this she said " I don't know what to tell you about that. When we are there in the summer we use a neighbors" and that we should contact the Tahoe Donner association. When we went to talk to the association we were told that they have never provided internet for he community. I have rented many homes on VRBO, and have been generally very pleased with few exceptions, but none of outright had untruths in their description before.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with young children.
Owner response: Thank you for your feedback, as we always encourage open communication with all our renters. We strive to provide a comfortable and clean rental with all the amenities of home. Aside from the a few patches on the hand rest from over use (it is a rental with many occupants through out the years), the sofas, carpets and beds are steamed cleaned every year and are well maintained. Extra supplies are always on hand and we would never expect our renters to ever purchase any. If I would of been informed, I could have had our service bring the necessary items to you immediately. After back to back rentals, sometimes items run low. We do appreciate the bed comment because that means it time to flip the mattresses which is recommended to be done every 6months. All the mattresses are about 5years old and in very good condition. I've only heard positive comments about their comfort. As with all our rentals, we communicate and forward all information for the stay 7-10 days before arrival. You received everything within that time frame. It would have been even sooner, but I accidentally mistyped your email and I had to resend the information. We discussed this on the phone. Internet connectivity has never been an issue for our many renters in the past. I'm so sorry you had so much trouble. I do hope that you enjoyed your vacation in beautiful Tahoe-Donner.

Wonderful place for a weekend vacation, very clean and conveniently located near the slopes. Although there was no snow we still had a great timeRecommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, sightseeing.

About the owner: The Morgan family are Bay Area residents and have loved coming to Tahoe even before starting a family. Now parents to three active boys, we couldn't be happier to have found a better winter and summer outdoor playground for the entire family to enjoy. We love sharing our vacation home with others and hope you will enjoy it too!
Why the Owner Chose Tahoe Donner:
We have always enjoyed the outdoors and Tahoe-Donner seemed like the natural place for us to buy a home. The ease of access from Hwy 80 initially attracted us to Tahoe-Donner but it was the sense of calm and privacy once we arrive at our home that sold us.
We really enjoy the winters in Tahoe but absolutely love the summers here. There is so much to do and enjoy at any age.
Our kids are learning how to ski at Tahoe-Donner Downhill Ski area and they love going to the Snowplay area. We enjoy all the ski resorts near by and snow shoeing right behind our home. The green space behind our home makes it a winter wonderland. During the summer we take the trail behind our home along Donner creek which leads us straight to the Trout Creek Recreation area. It's a beautiful and invigorating mile and half hike.
The activities are endless in the summer and we feel we have the best access to all the amenities TCRC has to offer. The beach is only 5 minutes away. Tennis, one minute, golf 2 minutes, equestrian center, 5 minutes. If you want to go into town, Truckee is a short 10 minutes away. Local restaurants and grocery stores are just 3-5 minutes away. It's wonderful.
The Unique Benefits at this Condo:
One of the things I love about our home is the beautiful trail along Donner creek behind our home. It's private and serene. I love taking an early morning hike to the Trout Creek Recreation Center, getting a work-out in and hiking back in time for breakfast.
