La Casa Palapa - This is a newer oceanfront home and it is Spectacular - it won't disappoint. Most exciting home and best view in San Pancho! Watch the whales and dolphins swim by as you are lounging on the deck or in the infinity pool.
Dramatic drop-offs - NOT Toddler Friendly!
San Pancho is a wonderful, quaint, and very friendly fishing village with one of the most beautiful beaches anywhere. The magnificent Pacific Ocean is on one side and a lush tropical jungle on the other.
We are located about 500 yards up the beach from the Costa Azul Resort which has been written up in numerous publications, including Outside Magazine, the LA Times, and Alaska Airlines in-flight magazine, which all call this area a truly special place. Many of us have fallen love with this town with only one visit
Although the evenings are quiet, there are a number of excellent restaurants in town, just a 15 minute stroll down the beach. There you will find restaurants that offer wonderful local Mexican dishes, steaks, and plenty of fresh seafood.
Your days can be filled with activities such as swimming, fishing, surfing, kayaking, snorkeling, whale watching, horseback riding, bike riding, and hiking, or you can just lounge by the pool or on the white sand beach and wait for the colorful sunset as the sun drops into the beautiful, blue Pacific. There is now a polo field and several new galleries.
This spectacular new home is perched on the edge of the cliff right over the Pacific Ocean with the most incredible view in the area. The main living area is under a beautiful palapa and the bedrooms and den are enclosed and air conditioned. No Smoking allowed.

Wow! I just returned tonight from a 4 night stay at Casa Palapa with three other women to celebrate our 40th birthdays, and wanted to make sure to get a review in before I forgot the details! This is a fabulous place - we all just kept repeating over and over how lucky we were to spent a long weekend in such a perfect place! The views can't be beat. We spent huge portions of each day under the palapa, and by the pool, just staring out onto the San Pancho beach and the ocean beyond. The house has 3 main bedrooms - 2 of which are on the main (top) floor with incredible views that go on forever. There is a 3rd bedroom downstairs which is great, although would be a little less desirable in terms of a view (but has a great garden/jungle feel). The den easily served as a 4th bedroom for us. All 4 of these bedrooms had private bathrooms with outdoor showers. What I loved was how much outdoor living space there was - the long couches under the palapa were perfect when it was too hot to be in the sunshine, there were two dining tables outside, and 3 lounge chairs for sunbathing. We spent very little time inside our rooms, instead spending time in the common areas which were all outside. Eva and Sylvetre were terrific - showed up for a bit most mornings, but also returned to cook dinner for us 2 times - delicious. They were friendly and helpful. Only notes to be aware of for "discerning" guests (none of which made it less than 4+ stars for us): 1) you are in the jungle, so be prepared for some wildlife - not a ton of bugs, but the "tejones" (like a badger/monkey combo) can make an appearance at night, and the birds are not quiet. 2) If you are in the bedroom farthest from the beach, the crashing of the ocean waves is LOUD at night. 3) Walking to town is a trek - we did it pretty much daily, but if you don't have a car (we didn't), it can feel a little out of reach. We were fairly active, but not all members of our group wanted to walk to town each day. (But when we did, we loved dinner at La Playa on the beach) 4) Not a lot of hot water in all of the outdoor showers (but the views - wow!!). Would highly recommend for a girls or guys getaway or for a group of couples. San Pancho was a terrific town, we enjoyed heading to Sayulita to spend an afternoon, but overall, we probably could have spent every moment admiring the perfect view of Casa Palapa - it felt like our own private hotel. We definitely hope to return someday!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

This house was AMAZING!! We recently spent a week long family vacation here at the Casa Palapa and loved every minute of it! The views were absolutely gorgeous from every part of the house. Even just relaxing in the pool or on the patio you were still able to enjoy a fantastic view of the ocean and beach below. We took many walks to the beach which was only minutes away and spent the evenings watching amazing sunsets over the ocean. The Casa Palapa was also very close to town. We were able to walk into town and do some shopping as well as eat at a few restaraunts there. One night we even bought some seafood at a local shop in town and took it back to the house and barbequed it.The house keepers, Eva and Sylvester, were awesome as well! The stopped by every morning to make sure the house looked nice and clean. They even were kind enough to cook us a homemade dinner one night that was delicious! Everything about this house was relaxing and fun! We have rented several homes through VRBO and this house was by far the nicest of them all!! We highly recommend this house and would definitely go back again!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

I arrived on Oct.13, thanks to my wonderful friend Katherine, with 4 women for a week at la Casa Palapa. Everything about the property was perfect. Lisa had the house provisioned for us so the refrigerator was stocked when we arrived, which is definately the way to go. We all threw on our suits and jumped in the pool as the sun was setting. Each of the 3 bedrooms were beautifully decorated and their ajoining baths were perfect for privacy. I shared the den (as the fourth bedroom) with Sharon and we were very comfortable on the twin sofas. The kitchen had every appliance and gadget needed to create perfect meals and the coolers were always filled with fresh water bottles (very important). Eva and her husband arrived daily to take care of light housekeeping, linens, and dishes and were very helpful with anything we needed. San Pancho has no night life, but we didn't need it. We enjoyed our days surfing, snorkling, and hiking, and shopping. Our nights were full of dancing (excellent IPod dock for music) and waiting for the sunset. Every night the sky was different and we waited each night in anticipation for what we would see. Even the night it rained was incredible! We enjoyed watching the geikos come out at night and run around, knowing full well they were the reason there were no bugs! Only a few things to mention: Do not rent this home if you have small children, they literally can fall off the cliff. The driveway is very tricky, you must drive up fast and go down slow, extremely steep. The view from this home is one of the most beautiful views I have ever seen in my life. I have been home for 6 days now and all I can think of is la Casa Palapa and how I wish I was still there. When the 5 of us walked out the door, we asked each other "how will we ever explain this place?" and our answer was"Indescribable"Recommended for: Families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, adventure seekers.

We just returned from a glorious week in San Pancho. La Casa Palapa exceeded our highest expectations! We could not have chosen more comfortable accommodations or a more beautiful setting. The owners provided a wealth of information about the property and the entire area, including great recommendations for dining, shopping and sightseeing. Daily maid service was a welcome treat. We loved the little pueblo of San Pancho and met many friendly residents and merchants and enjoyed some delicious meals at local restaurants, including La Ola Rica, La Patrona Polo Club and Mar Plata. Tasting notes: We found the best fish tacos at Takiria and excellent chile rellenos at Café de Arte. We also bought fresh local fish from Pitito’s and grilled it on the house BBQ. La Casa Palapa provided the perfect setting for a truly memorable vacation to celebrate a milestone birthday and our wedding anniversary. We look forward to our next visit to San Pancho and, hopefully, another wonderful stay at La Casa Palapa! Muchos saludos, Linda & Rolly Mill Valley, CARecommended for: Age 55+, sightseeing, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

Why the Owner Chose San Francisco (San Pancho):
We had another beachfront home San Pancho since 1997. When this lot came available we knew it was the best view in San Pancho so we built La Casa Palapa, the most charming and romantic home in San Pancho.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
The view is so spectacular you won't want to leave.
