  We are just back from a week at this condo and thoroughly enjoyed it. It has all the amenities you need for a beach focused vacation. We were 3 generations - toddlers, parents and grandparents - and the accommodations were just what we needed. Plenty of sand toys, chairs and accessories for the beach, pool floats for the pool, a big porch with a great view for meals and relaxing, a comfortable interior and plenty of kitchen supplies for cooking and eating in. It's clean, well maintained, and the right style for a casual beach vacation. The common areas are also very nice including the pool, gas grills and seating areas. The beach is the highlight of course. It's an easy walk on the boardwalk and there's plenty of space on the uncrowded beach. I definitely recommend this place.

  Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway.

  We were lucky enough to spend the last week of March at the Sand Dollar again this year! My kids and I cannot think of anyplace we would rather travel to spend family time together. Each year we find new and fun things to do, and create wonderful memories to take home. Sanibel Island still has that quiet, safe, family-friendly environment that it had when I vacationed there as a kid. Each year my kids gain a bit more freedom on the island, and Sand Dollar is centrally located where they can easily get to the bike path to go meet with friends, or hit the beach a few steps away to go join a volleyball game. Thanks to the owner’s thoughtfulness, there is a closet full of beach & pool toys and games, boogie boards, rafts, beach chairs, and a set of bikes. It is so nice not to have to pack those things for the trip (or pay “island” prices for them either!). We love staying at the Sand Dollar when we get to the island. There are always plenty of families to meet during the visit; the pool is always a gathering place. The tennis courts are well maintained, and we always get a few games in. Grilling a quick lunch poolside under the pergola is always a hit! Access to the beach couldn’t be easier thanks to the well maintained boardwalk. Walks along the beach always produce handfuls of exotic shells. We love that the Sand Dollar is a quiet, safe complex for a family. The condo itself is wonderful! There are three roomy, nicely appointed bedrooms, each with a television and plenty of closet/dresser space. The front two bedrooms share a bath with beautiful fixtures and custom tile-work. A full laundry room is right off the bathroom hall, and makes it easy to keep up with the family’s wash. The master bedroom has a beautiful view of the Gulf with a full wall of windows; there is nothing better than sleeping with the window open listening to the surf at night and waking up to the beautiful view in the morning. The master has two huge closets, and a cheery master bath. The owner’s personal touch shows up again in the tiled shower. The kitchen, dining and living room offer beautiful views of the Gulf and have all that a family would need. Plenty of dishes, glasses, cookware etc. we weren’t lacking for anything. The large pantry and full size fridge were more than adequate for supplies for the kids and I for the week. We cannot think of a better place for our family to spend a fun filled week on Spring Break and cannot wait until next year!!

  Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

  We have been to Sanddollar before and love the property and the location. This particular unit is very"tired" and could use some updating and refreshing. Specifically-All the silverware is mismatched and some is rusty. Many glasses but no matched sets of at least 4.. there is also a full cabinet of chipped mismatched mugs. The formica on the cabinets is coming loose in spots and the cooktop takes forever to heat up. The exterior of the frig is rusty. The sink is chipped. The TV sets are all very old and very small. How about a flat screen in the living room. The maps and guidebooks in the LR cabinet dated from 1990! The bathrooms, except for a paint and paper job, have not ever been updated and are very shabby. There should be a grab bar in the second bath. The view and the beach are lovely. The swimming pool is heated and delightful. Sanddollar is a highly rated community and the homeowners as well as the renters would benefit from improvements .

West Allis, WI Review Submitted: April 20, 2010 Date of Stay: April 2010 My husband and I were extreamly happy with the Condo rental. Very clean and quiet! The pool and BBQ area was kept very neat as well and we enjoyed spending some afternoon time there vs. the ocean and beach which is literally 50 steps away and quite beautiful in itself. Everything (with the exception of food and personal toiletries) was available at the Condo. From a full kitchen, cooler, BBQ utensils, flashlights (for night time shelling and observing), beach towels and chairs, bikes...I could go on and on. You could honestly just pack some clothes and personal items and be good to go here. The owners were the greatest and most helpful before my booking and Sanibel Holiday rental (Julie) was great too! We will be back for sure...time and time again! Thanks you for one of the most relaxing vacations I have ever had in my life! When we got there, we were so pleased with the location and living space. The pool was also very clean (even in off-season) and there were plenty of dishes and towels. There were tons of shells to be found all along the beach, and a beach short walk to the right revealed a sandbar that was great for skim-boarding away from shells. The storage room contained several boogie boards and floating noodles, but no skim-boards or beach umbrella/chairs. We learned those can be rented, though, along with additional bikes (there are 2 in the storage room). I would suggest packing some basics (salt, pepper, etc). since these basics appear to be removed after each renter. I did find sunscreen, coffee filter
