Bainbridge Island house description
A stunning Pleasant Beach setting, just steps to the sandy beach and lively shops with three master suites! Our beautiful waterfront home is being newly offered as a vacation rental.
************************* WINTER/SPRING **************************************
Take advantage of our lower off-season pricing by renting for just a weekend. Receive a complimentary bottle of wine from our wine cellar for any winter/spring stay through April. This is the perfect house for two or three couples to share, or a 'ladies away weekend'. You won't find 80 degree weather for lounging on the deck, but you will find a nice cozy fireplace in the living room and master bedroom. Stay warm, dry and snugly inside while you sip your wine and watch the waves crash on the beach. Perhaps pamper yourself with a relaxing massage at the nearby spa, catch a movie or eat at one of the nearby restaurants. There is plenty of charm to be found even in the winter time!
Welcome to the “Gold Coast” of Bainbridge Island. Our home is west-facing and just literally steps to the sandy Puget Sound beach. Summer in Seattle is generally quite spectacular, with long days of sunshine, warm temperatures and little or no rain. Our home is located right on the water with the beach literally at your feet. You may be unaware that the east side of the Island (Seattle-side) can be quite cool anytime of the year, as it is mostly shaded in the afternoon by the tall trees and Island hills and subject to the north-easterly breeze in the summertime. By contrast, the west side of the Island is drenched in abundant summertime sunshine and is sheltered from the afternoon winds.
Sit on our deck with a drink in hand and marvel at the tranquility, the beauty and the ever-changing waterfront scenery as boats and wildlife pass by. Go for a beach walk, where you might spot deer on the beach, eagles diving for fish, harbor seals and even sea lions. Swim, fish, wade or snorkel in the shallow waters. Use our two kayaks or rowboat to explore the coastline. Enjoy a dessert wine by the evening campfire of our beach-side fire pit watching the stars twinkling overhead and the moonbeams dancing off the water. Of course you can always enjoy a water-side barbecue or relax anytime on our large deck. Every luxury, need and convenience is found at our Pleasant Beach Villa!
If you want to get out of the house, we are located just a short stroll next to the lively and quaint Lynwood Center. At Lynwood Center you will find three restaurants, one of the Islands most popular pubs with local micro-brews on tap, a movie theater, a frozen yogurt shop, a wine bar featuring many European wines, a massage/spa facility, a hairstylist, a bakery with daily fresh selections, a grocery store, a music and guitar shop and other shopping experiences.
Enjoy cooking in our gourmet kitchen and eating outside (weather permitting), or not. Everything from a morning latte, fresh bread and rolls, full breakfast, lunch, happy hour and dinner is a just a short stroll away. If there's a better location on the Island, we haven't found it yet!
Our Pleasant Beach Villa was constructed in 2011 and is built just steps from the water. At night you can lay awake in bed in any of the three waterside bedrooms with the fully-screened windows open and listen to the waves lapping the beach. Or, if it’s a chilly night, snuggle up to the fireplace in the master bedroom.
The double eight foot entry French doors open to a Carrara marble foyer with a striking view all the way to the water. The open floor plan carries you past the formal dining room, the gourmet kitchen and the breakfast/lunch nook into the living room with its soaring, 18-foot, boxed beam ceiling and 18-foot slate stone fireplace. Extensive amounts of hardwood, including Brazilian cherry, plus marble and slate cover the floors. The main floor also includes a utility room which contains a washer and dryer and granite-covered counter tops.
Completing the downstairs main floor is one guest bedroom with a queen-size bed, its own double French door access to the deck and its own en suite bathroom and walk-in closet. The bathroom includes a dual shower-head shower, floor-to-ceiling marble and granite shower walls and a double sink, marble vanity. The kitchen is modern, with granite counter tops a kitchen island and all-stainless steel appliances. Furnished appliances include juice squeezer, espresso machine, coffee maker, double-oven, microwave, gas cook top, dishwasher, instant-hot water dispenser, reverse osmosis drinking water faucet and garbage disposal.
We have a reverse osmosis drinking water system because the high mineral content of Island water may be distasteful (as one of the reviews for property #465334 can attest), since all Island water is well-based. With our reverse osmosis system, you are assured copious amounts of sweet, pure drinking water to drink directly or fill your water bottles.
The house also has central air conditioning and central heat. While it is a rare day in Seattle when A/C is needed, it is very nice to have for the two or three weeks of hot weather that we can get every summer!
All en suite bathrooms have heated tile floors and a hot water re-circulation loop that delivers instant hot water to every faucet. Each bedroom has its own television and there is a 56” television in the living room. Of course the house has Wi-Fi throughout, plus most rooms are hard-wired with Cat-5 Ethernet cable for even faster speeds.
The upstairs floor contains the master bedroom furnished with a queen-size bed and with its own en suite bathroom and walk-in closet. The master bedroom has double French doors that open to its own spacious balcony overlooking the water and a private gas fireplace. The master bathroom is finished in marble and includes a two-person shower and jetted tub. Another guest bedroom is located on the second floor at the opposite end of the house for maximal privacy. The upstairs guest bedroom comes with a queen-size bed and its own en suite bathroom and walk-in closet and double French door access to its own private balcony. As are all other bathrooms, the upstairs guest bathroom is finished in marble and contains a dual-sink vanity. Completing the upper floor is the piano room, another utility room with a second washer and dryer, a full bathroom with tub and a workout room furnished with a Soloflex, dumbbells and an elliptical machine. There is also a separate queen size sleeper sofa on the upper floor that sleeps two.
Our guide book details the many restaurants, wineries, the local brewery and distillery, hikes, parks, shops and other fun and interesting things to do on Bainbridge and nearby. The house is in a residential beach-side community about 7 minutes by car to the ferry terminal. As Bainbridge Island is an actual island, all trips into Seattle are by ferry, which is a 35 minute ride. The ferries accommodate vehicles and walk-on passengers, so a car can also be driven onto the ferry. Washington State operates the largest ferry system in the US. Traveling by ferry is a unique and wonderful experience and a great way to see the surroundings from the water. When leaving the Island to go to Seattle, you arrive at the ferry terminal in the heart of Seattle's waterfront, so it is very convenient to ride the ferry to Seattle and walk to the shops, restaurants, sports stadiums, theaters, etc.
The house is furnished with extensive art work and is warm and inviting. There is absolutely no way you will be disappointed with either the location, the setting or the house! Bainbridge Island was rated the number two most desirable city in the US by Money Magazine several years ago. There is always the risk is that you will fall in love with Bainbridge and want to move here yourself, like so many of us have done!

Perfect way to visit Seattle and the Puget Sound
Perfect way to visit Seattle and the Puget Sound
My party of four stayed at this home for six nights in October, 2013. We had a terrific time. The house is large and luxurious but very comfortable, a cross between a sophisticated city residence and a cozy beach house. Everything feels new. The house is within a couple of minutes' walk to several nice coffee houses, cafes, a movie theater and a grocery store along with some other shops. We appreciated this convenience while enjoying the peace and quiet of the house itself, especially the beachfront patio overlooking the water. We were blessed with several spectacular sunsets. The hosts provided clear instructions for household systems and were very responsive to questions about the place and its surroundings. It was fun to take the kayaks out and paddle along the coastline past other high end houses dotting the shore. Within minutes we had a great view of Mt. Rainier in one direction and the Olympic mountains in the other. Downtown Seattle is a pleasant ferry boat ride away. We went back and forth a few times from Bainbridge and found the ferries to be an integral part of the experience of visiting this part of the world, mixing the bustle of the city with the charm of island life. It's hard to imagine a better way to take in the Puget Sound and Seattle than a stay at Henry and Jill's wonderful home. We would return without hesitation. Highest recommendation.

Owner response: Thank you for the kind words, Richard! We are glad that you and your party enjoyed the house and Bainbridge Island! Hopefully you can come back again sometime during the summer when the days are long and the skies are blue! - Henry & Jill
Dear Jill and Henry - What a week - we did it all! First off, the weather was blue sky and sunny every day. Coming from Connecticut we were quite pleasantly surprised. Isn't it supposed to rain all the time in Seattle? I hardly know where to start. We did the Bainbridge Art Studio Tour and that was great fun. We visited Bloedel Reserve, had lunch at Salumi's in Seattle and ice cream at Mora's and managed to visit several of the wineries. We cooked crab cakes for dinner using fresh Dungeness crabs (with a recipe from your Mark Bittman cookbook). We love the French bakery next door - had pastries about 4 times this week! Luckily we also kayaked, hiked the island and walked the beach, so we didn't just eat! I was going to use your elliptical machine, but the weather was too nice to be indoors! Your house is absolutely beautiful! And the scenery and setting are even better than the pictures suggest. We loved just sitting on the deck and watching the view. I loved your gardens and herons and the kingfishers who were constantly fishing in front of the deck! We loved the peacefulness and the tranquility. We slept with the doors to the balcony open every night and were lulled to sleep by the sounds of nature. How special it is to live here! Bainbridge Island is truly a special place and a beautiful part of our country. We could not have asked for a better vacation! Thank you for making it memorable for us and thank you for the wonderful bottle of wine you left out for us!! Cheers, Nick & Pam

Why the Owner Chose Bainbridge Island:
Gorgeous setting, peaceful, tranquil. Close to everything. We custom-built this house in 2011, so it is rather new and furnished with many conveniences. We especially like the instant-hot water feature. There is never any waiting for the shower water to heat up!
The Unique Benefits at this House:
One never gets tired of the waterfront views and activities! Old Chinese proverb: He who lives on the water lives twice.
