I've stayed in the apartment twice, once in July, 2009 for 5 days with 4 people and again in August, 2011 for 9 days with 3 people, and have loved it both times. For location and price it's hard to beat - comfortable, relaxed, and easy with charming rooftop views. The apartment is literally steps to the Seine and the beautiful bridges across to Ile de la Citie and Ile St Louis. The review above mine said it all - Notre Dame, the Seine, the Pantheon, Blvd St Germaine, Jardin du Luxembourg, Monde Arabe, Ile St Louis, etc are right outside your door with only a short walk. The restaurants in the neighborhood are great - Les Plate Vivantes for Chinese noodles was specially nice. For transportation we used the metro (which is very easy) and for leisurely rides along the Seine to visit the Eiffel Tower and the Louvre we used Batobus, the Seine river taxi. The Notre Dame Batobus stop is about a 5 minute walk. The neighborhood seems very safe and is mostly quiet. I recommend the apartment highly with one reservation - given the sloping roof in the bath (it's a top floor apt) you do have to be something of a contortionist to climb into and then stand upright in the shower. This didn't bother anyone in my family but beware if you have someone with physical limitations.
Recommended for:Romantic getaway, tourists without a car, sightseeing, families with young children, families with teenagers.

If you're looking for luxury and for high-end amenities, this place is not for you. However, if you're looking for a clean and comfortable apartment in a superbly-located building with character, I would highly recommend this rental. It was just a bit tight for our family of four (two adults, two older teenagers), but since we didn't spend too much time sitting around indoors it was fine. During our ten-day stay we cooked several meals in the fully-functional kitchen, and the trundle bed set-up in the living room was perfectly adequate to sleep our two daughters. The modern windows, when closed, worked well to keep out the late-night sounds of traffic and of young folks partying along the Seine! Showering was somewhat of a challenge because of the uniquely-shaped bath configuration, and the elevator is really tiny (it fits two who don't mind getting close) -- but these factors were just part of the real-life feel of the building. And the location can't be beat: on the bank of the Seine, five minutes from Notre Dame, two minutes from Shakespeare & Co., three blocks from the Maubert-Mutualite Metro stop, a short walk to all the Latin Quarter's attractions. We had a very good meal at Le Petite Pontoise one block over, the excellent Kayser boulangerie is quite close, and we took a break from French cuisine with the outstanding hand-pulled Chinese noodles at Le Pate Vivantes right around the corner. Don't miss a visit to the nearby Institut du Monde Arabe -- in addition to its collections, it has an excellent bookstore/gift shop, and the view from the rooftop terrace is really lovely; we also enjoyed the Jardin des Plantes and, of course, the Jardin du Luxembourg. The apartment owner had many other bits of advice and recommendations for us, and she was very helpful in the entire rental process.
Recommended for:Tourists without a car, sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers.
