Year Purchased: 2013
About the owner: I love Marfa and can't believe how lucky I am to own a home there. It is incredibly special! My main residence is in Houston, but I spend as much time out there as possible. Managing this property is my full-time job, along with my 5 kids and 3 dogs.
Why the Owner Chose Marfa: I fell in love with Marfa 20 years ago. I am from Arizona originally and I guess there is a part of me that just loves that high desert climate. The climate in Marfa is amazing, the summer temps even in the hottest part of the year still drop into the 60s at night. The light in Marfa is beautiful. The sunsets, sunrises, the clouds - it is easy to see why artists have been drawn here. It's remoteness is a huge part of the appeal for me and my husband.
The Unique Benefits at this House: This home is just such a classic. It has beautiful bones, with high ceilings and wonderful windows. The porch is so welcoming. The wood floors are original - worn but with character and beauty. It is cozy yet open and spacious for it's size.
