Girls Weekend at Kelley's Island
Girls Weekend at Kelley's Island
The Lakeshore is fabulous. My friends and I arrived on Friday afternoon and were wowed by the beautiful home. Of course, having the lake right in front of the house was the main attraction, but we were equally impressed by the updated, tasteful decor. Since we planned on cooking several meals, we were ecstatic to see the large, totally renovated kitchen complete with stainless steel appliances and an unbelievable amount of storage. The two complete bathrooms made getting ready, even with 5 women, a breeze. I have stayed at many lakeshore homes in the past, and this was by far the most tastefully decorated. Right when you walk in, there is a sense of being "home"; it is warm and inviting, and I never felt like there was anything lacking. The location is fantastic, literally just steps from the shopping and restaurants downtown. We enjoyed a good brunch at The Captains Corner and a wonderful perch dinner at The Pump. However, our favorite spot was the Kelley's Island Winery. If you visit, you have to check it out. As it turns out, Halloween weekend is a great time to be on the island. There were live bands in all the bars. The Lakeshore is truly a gem, and I am already planning my next visit. The next time I want to stay a week with my entire family. You will not find a more beautiful rental. It has it all: excellent location, beautiful decor and super reasonable price! If I had to make a couple of suggestions it would be that we could have used more places to hang our towels, and the bathrooms were a bit chilly.

Owner response: Thank you for the review! We are so happy to hear that you like what we've done to the house so far. Since your stay, we have added 3 more towel bars to the upstairs bath and another to the first floor bath. Sorry about the chill in the bathrooms. The furnace was just replaced a few months ago and it can probably use some adjusting. We will add a couple of space heaters for the spring season just in case. Thanks again for your visit. We look forward to having you and your family back this summer! We're starting to fill up quickly, so please let us know when you can make it back.

About the owner: Having met at Miami University, we've been married and have lived in Worthington, Ohio for over 30 years. Our very first vacation together was to Kelleys Island to visit a cousin who was starting a business on the island -- The Kelleys Island Wine Company.
Why the Owner Chose Kelleys Island:
Our family has been vacationing on Kelleys Island for decades. It is an incredibly family-friendly vacation spot with plenty to offer kids of all ages. A trip to Kelleys starts with the ferry ride from Marblehead -- a 20 minute ride that serves to melt-away the stresses of the real world. Once onshore, a feeling of peace and tranquility instantly takes over. Kelleys Island is the perfect spot for family reunions, gatherings of friends, and lasting memories.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
The first few blocks west of town on Lakeshore Drive have always been our absolute favorite place on Kelleys because of the beautiful old homes, the majestic shade trees, the cool breezes coming across the lake, boats of all kinds sailing by, and the gorgeous views of the mainland, especially at night. We never thought we'd be able to buy a place on this street. While here for a family reunion in 2013, we found ourselves with a unique opportunity to acquire our own little piece of heaven.
