Located on the west side of San Juan Island, this beautiful, romantic waterfront home was custom built with attention to the creative details. Built on a grassy bench within a stone's throw of the water, it is a very private island home whose secluded, sunny views of the Olympic Mountains and the Strait of Juan de Fuca is breathtaking in all seasons. The most premier whale watching on the west side of San Juan Island, there is 1400 feet of coastline bordered by preservation land. Enjoy a front row view of the resident Orca whales, who often sleep in the cove.
The Waterhouse is a cedar shake bungalow, custom finished with a beautiful stone fireplace to enjoy when ambiance and warmth are the inspiration. The fully-equipped kitchen includes a professional Viking stove, a great invitation to the serious chef.
There is plenty to do with three acres and 1400 feet of rocky coves and private beaches to explore. Tide pooling is excellent. Bring your binoculars because bird watching is superb, with resident Harlequin ducks and the local Bald eagle, "Rocky." Watch fox, otter, and deer close by, or pack your favorite beverages, a great book, and a picnic basket, and relax on a sandy beach directly in front of the house.
Small beach fires are allowed if a fire ban is not enforced on the island. Best of all is whale watching as this stretch of shoreline has been identified by a whale museum biologist as a feeding area for Orcas. Watch whales pass by from the deck as their family groups come within a few yards of shore, hunting salmon. |
