Guest book: Dear Renato
Thank you so much for the wonderful holiday at Casa Allegra. We had a wonderful time. The apartment was just perfect. The neighborhood is just as I remember and we did enjoy the time immensely. The weather was absolutely perfect. I would highly recommend Casa Allegra to anyone who asked.
With regards and thanks, Alison Pols.
I just wanted to tell you what a lovely stay we had in Venice - greatly enhanced by being able to stay in your apartment. All the family enjoyed ourselves and we'll certainly recommend you to our friends.
Just a quick email to say how much we enjoyed Venice and your apartment. It was lovely to come back to a home after a day's sightseeing, not just a hotel room and the location was terrific. Your pre-arrival information was most helpful and your directions excellent.
Guest book: Dear Renato,
Well, we’re home again after 3 wonderful weeks in bella Italia. We just wanted to say thank you for Casa Allegra! What a great place!
Casa Allegra is spacious and comfortable and we enjoyed our stay very much. The moon was full and the weather was perfect. We had a good time in Venezia, La Serenissima! The week went by all too quickly. There always will be more to see. So, I’m sure you wouldn’t be surprised to receive a reservation request from us again sometime…! In the meantime, we’ll enjoy our memories of La Serenissima, Casa Allegra and the October moon over Misericordia.
Thank you again.

My sister and I have just returned from our annual trip to Venice. As usual, I wanted to stay at Case Allegra, because it is both comfortable and atmospheric. This was my fourth visit there, and it was fabulous from start to finish. Louisa, who provides the housekeeping between visits, met us promptly upon arrival. The house was spotless (freshly painted as well), the beds ready, and all was well with the world. The apartment is close to everything. We came in via the Linea Arancio of the Allelaguna, as it stops at Madonna Del Orto, just three bridges away from the house. There are grocery stores and restaurants within 1-5 minutes. Each morning at 7:30, Monica, just across the San Marziale bridge, has fresh bread to go with morning coffee. She also has milk and other staples- and is a lovely woman. We have a new favorite restaurant from this visit- Osteria L'Orto Dei Mori- very close by the apartment. The food is very, very, good. I won't go into all we did in Venice, but will tell you that our experience was heightened by being able to stay at this apartment. It is convenient, comfortable, and charming. Looking out over the canal from the two balconies is a great thing to do while winding down after a long day on the lagoon. I feel at home the moment I walk through the door. I give this particular spot my highest recommendation, and thank Renato, Allegra, and Louisa, for maintaining it and making it available to us. Thank you so much for another perfect April vacation. Owner response: Thank you so much Alison it is always a great pleasure having you stay with us at Casa Allegra. And greatly appreciate the little gem tips you're kindly sharing with us as to where to get fresh bread in the mornings, just around the corner across the canal or how nice to have a new restaurant to add to our list of recommended locals, one that it is close by with very good food makes it all the better, and the handy tip on how to reach the apartment from the Marco Polo airport with the Linea Arancio to Madonna Dell'Orto. Doesn't get any better than that! Here's very much looking forward to having you stay again next April - your dates are already on hold! Welcome! Benvenuti! All the very best, Renato and the Casa Allegra Team
The apartment was well appointed and perfect for our family of 4 during our 5 day stay in Venice. Renato could not have been more helpful or flexible in terms of our arrival and departure arrangements. We were met promptly upon arrival and departure, and the information package and overall communication was incredible and saved a lot of time and money for us. The area was great, many shops and restaurants close by, but also quiet and relaxed. The view of the area was great from the balconies! We had high expectations of Venice, which the city and people constantly met, then exceeded. Even the weather cooperated! Truly an incredible experience. Already looking forward to our next visit. Thanks again to Renato and his team!

Good value, excellent location
Good value, excellent location
My sister and I stayed at Casa Allegra for 10 nights. This is our third trip to Venice, first time renting. BOOKING/INFORMATION: Renato is very responsive during the booking process. The booklet sent prior to arrival is a very nice and thoughtful touch. As noted by previous reviewers, information on arriving, transportation, bars/restaurants, etc. LOCATION: Great neighborhood-away from the crowds, close to shops, bars, lovely shop for bread across the canal, fruit/veg stand, a well-stocked Billa. The Japanese artist on Fond Misericordia mentioned by a 2010 reviewer is worth seeking out. A note on the balconies- as mentioned by reviewers and seen in the pictures, you have balconies to watch the world go by. Very nice in the morning as parents are taking their children to school and people are walking to work. Not as nice when groups of tourists stand across the canal staring directly at you. We found ourselves in the uncomfortable position of being in many photos and videos when sitting at the window (a position that I'm sure many Venetians are sadly accustomed to). APARTMENT: Lots of windows-filled with light and sunshine. Comfortable beds, lots of hot water, no problems with the Wi-Fi, lots of closet space. Bathroom is very large and for those who like to cook it's nice to have an oven in addition to a stove. Washing machine was also great for a longer stay. The apartment is not quite as pristine as the pictures would suggest which is understandable as I'm sure the photos were taken some time ago. In particular, a few minor things (wheeled cart in the kitchen with most of it's paint peeled off; an especially grungy tea pot; faded fake flowers in the bathroom) would seem easy to rectify to give the apartment a cleaner, fresher feel. ARRIVAL/DEPARTURE: Luisa met us promptly to provide keys and show us the Wi-Fi. She confirmed our departure time,7:00 am, before leaving (I also had the time confirmed in an e-mail from Renato) but on the morning of our departure she failed to arrive. As we had a 7:15 water taxi (kindly arranged by Allegra) to get to the airport,at 7:15 we had to leave the keys in the apt and go. While this was no more of an inconvenience than adding some stress to our departure morning, if we had been waiting for the return of the 300 eur security deposit (which we had been told we would need to leave but at arrival were never asked to) it would have been much more of a problem. E-mailed Renato from the airport but never received a reply.

Wonderful days in Venice
Wonderful days in Venice
We would like to tell you that we had a wonderful stay in Venice. Casa Allegra is really very nice, and we liked it very much, especially the nice pictures on the walls and of course its good location. The pre-arrival book was very useful. Thanks to it we could find the way from the station to the apartment without problems. There was a lot of very useful information about the city, restaurants and so on as well. That is why we are very happy to have got it! Thank you very much indeed. Mrs. Luisa is very kind, and although we do not speak Italian we could understand what she said. We would like to go to Casa Allegra sometime once again, since we really liked it. Wilfried and Heike We will recommend it to our friends as well.

Comfortable and a great location
Comfortable and a great location
We had the pleasure of staying at Casa Allegra recently and were very pleased with the property and the location. The apartment was just as described. It was clean and comfortable. We enjoy cooking while on vacation and this kitchen was very well equipped. The apartment was located in a great neighborhood and we could easily walk to most of the city. Renato made the reservation process very easy. He was very responsive to my emails and the packet he sent was very helpful. The step-by-step directions on how to find the property were spot on. The caretaker, Louisa, was very prompt in meeting us and though she didn't speak English, we could easily understand what she was trying to convey. We wouldn't hesitate to stay at Casa Allegra again.

We had a wonderful stay at your home Renato! Ms. Luisa met us exactly at the time planned and showed us the apartment. We ate at the two restaurants visible from the balconies and had great meals. The home was very clean and was equipped with everything we needed (especially the Gimi rolling cart for groceries at Billa on Strada Nova). We appreciated using the travel books in the lounge and there were plenty of extra towels, blankets, pillows, etc. The location was also good and within walking distance of the Ca'Doro vaporetto stop. Thank you also for the English movie DVD's-we had something to watch just before bed. We would highly recommend this home for a small family.

Fantastic apartment in perfect location
Fantastic apartment in perfect location
My family and I stayed at Casa Allegra for 4 nights in July this year. We found this apartment to be perfect for us, very clean and well maintained & stocked. The kitchen was good to cook in and the overall style and feel of the apartment was great, especially the views directly over the canals on 2 sides. The apartment is located in a great area, a comfortable 10 minute walk from the train station, and close to the fabulous central market just over the main canal, but away from the crazy crowds of St Marks Square. The area directly behind Casa Allegra was particularly interesting, with great local restaurants, and quiet canals to stroll along, and the area felt more local and less touristy than other parts of Venice. It is also possible to visit the islands of Murano & Burano from the ferry service through these back streets and avoid the busier main canal. There is also a church nearby with a fantastic collection of Tintoretto paintings. I would highly recommend Casa Allegra as a place to stay short or longer term in Venice. The owner Renato was very helpful and the welcome pack he sent us very useful - there is also a great map in the apartment that shows all the local attractions. The highlight was going to the fresh market every morning for coffee & fruit using the poor mans ferry crossing (traghetto). Thank you Renato, for making Venice the highlight of our Italian trip - we will be back soon (I hope). Daniel, Sharon, Sophie & Elias Seyd, Melbourne, Australia

Owner response: Thank you ever so much. Welcome back to our charming Casa Allegra anytime. Here below is the text in English (translated badly by Google) for those of us, like myself, who don't understand German. Luckily for the Google translate as it is indeed a very nice review! Best regards Renato and the Casa Allegra team. In January the four of us spent a week at "Casa Allegra." The apartment is very bright and clean, equipped with everything you need on holiday and is ideal for a couple with two children. The photos reflect faithfully the charm of the apartment again very nice. We especially liked the location directly over two canals. Reminder of how atmospheric this place is with the window open and waking up to the gentle lapping of the water below. Great atmosphere in the attractive district of Cannaregio, on the one hand not too crowded and touristy, yet near the center and in close proximity to shopping and restaurants. Venice, of course, offers countless cultural attractions, is very attractive, but we found others equally interesting off the beaten tracks described in guidebooks to walk through the maze of alleys and go on a discovery tour between crumbling facades and clotheslines. The children especially enjoyed the rides in the vaporetto, which we have also taken to the Lido and to the lagoon islands of Murano and Burano, which are worth a day trip. Renato's detailed information and Casa Allegra team were very helpful to us on arrival and during the stay. In general, the contact was very nice, trustworthy and professional - and despite our short-term booking very easy. Thanks a lot! We had a great week in Venice.

Coming from Germany we spend 5 days in the Casa Allegra during Carnival season 2013. As Venice being one of our favourite travel destinations for years, we much rather decided to stay in a private apartment than in the very expensive and most impersonal hotels. So Casa Allegra came up. The initial contact to Mr. Renato the owner was very friendly, payment was done respectable and without any doubts. Few days prior our departure we received a brochure by mail with very valuable information about the house, the area, restaurants and best of all a very detailed description of “how to get there”. Se we found the location immediately, no problem at all. Ms. Luisa, the caretaker, was there on check in time, providing some useful information. The apartment is very cosy, well equipped, has a very good heating system, we definitely had to use, as it was cold outside in Feb. Location is perfect – quiet and away from the tourist main stream in the typical Venician “sestiere” of Cannaregio. And best of all…when opening the windows you have a beautiful view of the small canals (2) and street around the house. Restaurants are close by but you also may prepare a meal in the kitchen, utensils are provided. Mr. Renato’s restaurant recommendations however did not allow us to use the stove too often. So summing up, this object is highly recommendable and convenient for a max. of 3-4 people (for couples a perfect hide away). Staying there is like feeling home and being part of the Venecian’s life. Thanks Mr. Renato for all your help and assistance. Hope we will have the chance to stay in your apt. in future again.
