  My sister and I have just returned from our annual trip to Venice. As usual, I wanted to stay at Case Allegra, because it is both comfortable and atmospheric. This was my fourth visit there, and it was fabulous from start to finish. Louisa, who provides the housekeeping between visits, met us promptly upon arrival. The house was spotless (freshly painted as well), the beds ready, and all was well with the world. The apartment is close to everything. We came in via the Linea Arancio of the Allelaguna, as it stops at Madonna Del Orto, just three bridges away from the house. There are grocery stores and restaurants within 1-5 minutes. Each morning at 7:30, Monica, just across the San Marziale bridge, has fresh bread to go with morning coffee. She also has milk and other staples- and is a lovely woman. We have a new favorite restaurant from this visit- Osteria L'Orto Dei Mori- very close by the apartment. The food is very, very, good. I won't go into all we did in Venice, but will tell you that our experience was heightened by being able to stay at this apartment. It is convenient, comfortable, and charming. Looking out over the canal from the two balconies is a great thing to do while winding down after a long day on the lagoon. I feel at home the moment I walk through the door. I give this particular spot my highest recommendation, and thank Renato, Allegra, and Louisa, for maintaining it and making it available to us. Thank you so much for another perfect April vacation.   We would like to tell you that we had a wonderful stay in Venice. Casa Allegra is really very nice, and we liked it very much, especially the nice pictures on the walls and of course its good location. The pre-arrival book was very useful. Thanks to it we could find the way from the station to the apartment without problems. There was a lot of very useful information about the city, restaurants and so on as well. That is why we are very happy to have got it! Thank you very much indeed. Mrs. Luisa is very kind, and although we do not speak Italian we could understand what she said. We would like to go to Casa Allegra sometime once again, since we really liked it. Wilfried and Heike We will recommend it to our friends as well.

  We had the pleasure of staying at Casa Allegra recently and were very pleased with the property and the location. The apartment was just as described. It was clean and comfortable. We enjoy cooking while on vacation and this kitchen was very well equipped. The apartment was located in a great neighborhood and we could easily walk to most of the city. Renato made the reservation process very easy. He was very responsive to my emails and the packet he sent was very helpful. The step-by-step directions on how to find the property were spot on. The caretaker, Louisa, was very prompt in meeting us and though she didn't speak English, we could easily understand what she was trying to convey. We wouldn't hesitate to stay at Casa Allegra again.

  We had a wonderful stay at your home Renato! Ms. Luisa met us exactly at the time planned and showed us the apartment. We ate at the two restaurants visible from the balconies and had great meals. The home was very clean and was equipped with everything we needed (especially the Gimi rolling cart for groceries at Billa on Strada Nova). We appreciated using the travel books in the lounge and there were plenty of extra towels, blankets, pillows, etc. The location was also good and within walking distance of the Ca'Doro vaporetto stop. Thank you also for the English movie DVD's-we had something to watch just before bed. We would highly recommend this home for a small family.

  My family and I stayed at Casa Allegra for 4 nights in July this year. We found this apartment to be perfect for us, very clean and well maintained & stocked. The kitchen was good to cook in and the overall style and feel of the apartment was great, especially the views directly over the canals on 2 sides. The apartment is located in a great area, a comfortable 10 minute walk from the train station, and close to the fabulous central market just over the main canal, but away from the crazy crowds of St Marks Square. The area directly behind Casa Allegra was particularly interesting, with great local restaurants, and quiet canals to stroll along, and the area felt more local and less touristy than other parts of Venice.  It is also possible to visit the islands of Murano & Burano from the ferry service through these back streets and avoid the busier main canal. There is also a church nearby with a fantastic collection of Tintoretto paintings. I would highly recommend Casa Allegra as a place to stay short or longer term in Venice. The owner Renato was very helpful and the welcome pack he sent us very useful - there is also a great map in the apartment that shows all the local attractions. The highlight was going to the fresh market every morning for coffee & fruit using the poor mans ferry crossing (traghetto).  Thank you Renato, for making Venice the highlight of our Italian trip - we will be back soon (I hope).   Dear Renato We have now arrived home and intend to spend the next few days looking at several hundred photos and movies of our wonderful six days in Venice, whilst drinking Aperol spritz in the garden! The apartment was a delightful place to stay, spacious, airy and full of light. We organised ourselves so that we ate each night at the table in the smaller bedroom and watched the Venetian world pass by. We were amazed to find the apartment contained all those little important items, condiments, towels, toilet and kitchen rolls, a hairdryer, iron, etc. All the things it is impossible to carry when travelling with a flight bag only. We bought a travel pass for seven days, but used the traghetto regularly, and could have managed with a three day pass. There are many ways of getting around Venice when staying at Allegra, unlike some other apartments we have rented. It is in a non-touristy area, yet seems to be near to everything. The restaurants over the canal can get quite lively, but the atmosphere is tremendous, music, laughter and the clinking of cutlery and glass - the essence of Venice. Please thank Luisa and Allegra for their help in booking our water taxi home. I am afraid Ken's Italian wasn't up to the complicated conversation he attempted with the water taxi office the day prior to leaving, and Luisa literally stood on the balcony and made sure the taxi arrived for us on the morning we left. Very reassuring when we had a take-off deadline! We are planning a return visit next year - two years away from Venice was too long! Di and Ken Wilson Harborne, Birmingham, UK.

  My husband and I stayed in this apartment for a week. It was perfect for our needs,the location was superb being in a quiet area of Venice. It was extremely easy to find once we had got off the vaporetto at C'dora. The apartment was immaculate and had everything you could possibly need. There was an abundance of clean towels and bed linen. The kitchen is well equipped with the benefit of a washing machine. The information pack that Renato sent us upon booking was extremely welcome and informative and helped greatly in the preparation for our visit to Venice. The weather was fantastic so we spent most of our day out but it was a lovely apartment to return to at the end of the day. Our biggest tip for anyone coming to Venice is to purchase an ACTV card for use on the bus from the airport and the vaporetto. We used this so much and certainly got our money's worth. The highlights of our trip were : the islands,particularly Torcello - well worth the trip out to see the beautiful church - and Burano with its pretty coloured houses. The Peggy Guggenheim museum was amazing,the gardens are beautiful and you can sit right on the Grand Canal front. For some peace and tranquility take the Vaparetto down to Giardini. There is plenty of space to sit and relax particularly in Biennale Avenue where there is a garden centre with a lovely restaurant attached. Friends and books had told us that it is very expensive in Venice, all European cities are but we found that restaurants and cafes in the back streets are very reasonable and offer very good food. All in all we had an amazing holiday and will be coming back next year and we have had no hesitation in recommending Renato's apartment.

  Dear Renato, we had a fantastic week in Venice and did enjoy our time in your apartment. After walking through Venice for hours we did enjoy to sit at the open window faced to the chanel and watch the people walking by.   Dear Renato, I am embarrassed that it has taken me so long to write to you with our thanks for a lovely stay at Casa Allegra. The apartment was very pleasant, made all the more so by the sun-filled, airy rooms and your colorful artwork. What a treat! As travelers who enjoy cooking with local ingredients, we appreciated the well-equipped kitchen. While we had several wonderful meals in local restaurants -- at La Colombina, Diana, and elsewhere -- we also created several memorable meals in Casa Allegra's spacious kitchen. Your correspondence and the warm welcome we received all added to the good experience. There was some confusion, apparently, about our departure. No one arrived to collect the keys, so we left them inside, hoping this did not cause any inconvenience. Otherwise, the experience was perfect.
