A six-foot fence wraps around the spacious front yard – ideal for playing volleyball, lawn darts, or just kicking back. Kalama Beach House is a non-smoking house, although smoking is permitted outside. It is ideally situated just across the street from one of the top-rated beaches in the world, Kailua Beach – a short walk and your toes will be digging into the white sand that stretches for miles. Stroll along the shore or take advantage of one of the many ocean activities available.
The warm turquoise-blue water awaits you! Imagine taking your cup of Kona coffee with you in the early morning to stroll the clean, quiet beach as the absolutely magnificent Hawaiian sun rises! At night, when it’s full-moon time, an experience you won’t forget is when a gigantic full moon appears to rise right up from the horizon. Only a 25-minute drive through the majestic Ko'olau Mountains to the airport, downtown Honolulu and Waikiki. Per Honolulu city and county this property is available for 30 day rentals.
Nearby attractions include Kualoa Ranch, Botanical Gardens, Sea Life Park, The Blow Hole, Hanauma Bay & the North Shore. Kailua Town has plenty of shopping from big-name stores to trendy boutiques, antique stores and Island-inspired gift shops that make it easy to find that special something to take home with you. A wide range of restaurants are also just minutes away offering something for everyone including the health-conscious and vegetarian appetites. Several supermarkets and the best health-food store on the Island are close by.

After visiting the Kalama Beach House, I decided that hibernation is for the birds. Why sleep away the winter when you can experience a healthy dose of sunny paradise on Oahu? The property was steps away (less than a block) from beautiful Kailua beach and minutes away from delicious local dining. This bear did sleep, but only after days filled with Polynesian culture, sightseeing, boogie boarding, swimming, snorkeling, kayaking, hiking, and island cuisine. Speaking of food, I feasted on the delicious island treats of exotic fruits, meats, and sweets during my visit. This bear just so happens to love Spam, a local favorite.
Although the Kalama Beach House was totally comfortable and featured a refreshing salt water pool, my favorite thing about the property was the outdoor master bath. Resembling a tiki hut and hosting a rain forest shower, the master bath was a relaxing getaway that made me feel as if I were living in the jungle (without those pesky lions and tigers, of course).
I was genuinely sad to leave Oahu’s tropical setting and return to my wintery home. I will most definitely return to Hawaii and may even consider trading in my snow skis for a surf board.

We had a wonderful time. This house is perfect and in a great location. Madeline and Joe were great hosts who have thought of everything, they even found a sewing box for my mother. We hope to be back soon.Owner response: Such nice people! Mom is a little firecracker!

My stay here couldn't be beat. Amazing location, wonderful owners, and the place was immaculate and very well-appointed. The house was spacious and the bed was so comfy; only beat by my own bed at home. Only minutes walk to the most beautiful beach. Never wanted this vacation to end.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thank you for the kind words Samantha we so look forward to your next visit see you very soon. Aloha! Joe

This property was everything I had hoped for... and More! The house is spotless, with great privacy, a pool patio with lots of space to get sun, BBQ, eat breakfast, etc. The outdoor "tiki bathroom" was a great touch. I had the master bedroom, and could walk out my balcony door to get to it. The living area(s) are great, with a living room, dining nook, and a porch with more couches and 2 indoor lounges. Epic landscaping, parking for 3 vehicles inside the gate, and a lawn like a putting green top off the facility. Location? Wads of it. Right across the street from the beach, with an excellent stretch of sand and kid-friendly waves/water, but not too far from the North Shore, for the big boarders. It's a refreshing walk to downtown Kailua, (about half-mile, but they provide a bike for you to use, too). Downtown has great shopping, excellent food, and I happened to be there during their town "block party", where they set up booths of food and shopping stuff in the street. Overall, an outstanding time, a great place, super-nice people. Everything is provided (towels, laundry, full kitchen utensils). Just bring your food, beach clothes, and happy hour supplies and you will NOT want to leave. We're already talking about our trip back next year.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, people with disabilities, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thank you Jim it was so great having you here in house. Please come back soon.

My daughter and I loved how close we were to the beach and the center of Kailua. The backyard feels like a small oasis with tables, chairs, and a large pool. We particularly enjoyed all of the small touches on the property ~ snorkel gear for the beach, a blow dryer under the sink, shampoo and conditioner in the shower, or detergent for the washer. In addition, everything was very well maintained and very clean. Would gladly stay again!Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

This is a wonderful home, well equipped, with lots of room for sleeping. We went for a holiday from Calgary and met a family member from Vancouver to have some quality time with her. It was wonderful. We like to take transit where ever we go so it was great that the bus went to Kailua. Joe was great calling us to see if we had arrived and picked us up from one of the bus stops. Good thing he did as my GPS was very low on battery time. Thanks Joe. He even took us to pick up some groceries. We are not used to such amazing treatment upon arrival. Joe introduced us to Madeline and showed us around. The home is done in of course a Hawaiian theme. The pool area was great, especially with all the beautiful plants. It was nice to go someplace and not have to share a pool with anyone and be able to sit pool side and enjoy our meals, talk to our family member and take a swim without other people sharing our oasis. The kitchen was well stocked with all we needed and then some. The barbecue was also very well used and welcome site. We spent most of our time outside either at the beach .... just a few minutes walk away or at the pool. Upon leaving Joe insisted he drive us to the airport, although we do not mind taking transit. It was even his birthday that evening and he took time to do this for us. We would recommend this home to anyone interested in going to Hawaii where the beach has white sand, and some peace and tranquillity. Thank you Joe and Madeline Doug and Kathy from Calgary and Carol from VancouverRecommended for: Sightseeing, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

Joe and Madeline were Ohana from the minute we talked on the phone and very gracious hosts! Loved the well stocked kitchen, pool, Hawaiian decor and comfortable beds. Everything looked as promised, we had a wonderful stay! Fa'afetaitele lava and mahalo! If you are looking for a beautiful home, comfortable accomodations, and feeling like you are part of a larger Ohana, then this is the place for you! Not only is the home gorgeous, the island details and aloha throughout the home are spectacular! We enjoyed everything about this hale, perfectly located not only for the beach, but to the town as well. Having lived in Kailua previously, we knew what we were looking for and this house delivered! Our hosts were gracious, kind, and caring! I can't recommend this place enough, and will definitely be returning hopefully sooner rather than later!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

What wonderful accommodations this house offers too all who stay. The living area is great for kicking back before retiring for bed. The outdoor bathroom is worth its weight in gold in cooling down, enjoying the awesome shower, and feeling refresh after a day of touring the island. The location is great for shopping, coffee shops, restaurants, and accessing the main highways. The close proximity to the beach ( 2 blocks) was an added blessing especially with the grandchildren. If we didn't go to the beach the pool is right outside the back patio door allowing young and old to enjoy the water. Joe is an excellent host welcoming you as if you knew him all your life and how nice he stopped by to ensure all our needs were being met; it was hard to say good-bye. We plan on visiting Oahu again prior to our son being transferred and Joe will be the first VRBO property we will contact for availability.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Aloha and Mahalo! You know you and family are always welcome here. Joe
