We, my cousins an me stayed a week at this beautiful and peaceful place. We stayed at sonas sitting room. we felt like home. Rioana is such a lovely person. She told us where to go and which spots we have to see. If you sitting behind the house, looking across the sea, you can watch the beatiful sunsets going down. We really enjoyed our holiday at Bru na mara and Connemara. Anytime again.

You'll get a filled fridge for breakfast, a bottle of vine, everything is clean and made with so much love and originality. At Bru Na Mara you'll have the sweetest apartment you will get when you are on holidays in the west of Ireland. Because we didn't find the way immediatly we've been guided in Carna to our little residence, where we stayed for the next 7 days. The beautiful sight around the house and the great landscapes make amends of the car-tour from Dublin to Carna! You also get a lot of informations and brochures of the villages and sightseeings around Carna and a map so you wont lose your way. There are a lot of things to visit like the Kylemore Abbey, the Connemara Nationalpark and the nice city Clifden with all its cute little shops. It really is worth the time to travel to all this places! We will travel to this amazing place any time again and hope everbody else who decides making holidays at Bru Na Mara will share this opinion with us!

Our family (including Grandparents, teenagers) enjoyed an excellent relaxing week in this beautiful part of Connemara. We chose (Mum chose) Bru-Na-Mara to hopefully satisfy everyones holiday needs; a base from which to explore the mountains and southern parts of Connemara and Arran Islands; shore side house to start the day with a swim; door step coastal walks for enjoying beaches, birds and wildlife. We were extremely fortunate with the weather and spent most of the sunny days on the local shore . The small sandy beach directly in front of the house would have been perfect for small children to enjoy but our big kids enjoyed swimming and jumping off rocks at high tide (perfect spot to enjoy some sea kayaking). Part of the charm of this house was enjoying the changes as the tide and local fishermen came in and out, sunny breakfasts at the picnic table outside the kitchen door and catching the last of the evening sun on the pier. The house and grounds were in great condition with everything we needed for a very comfortable stay. Riona and her family were very welcoming, helpful and informative, always to hand if needed but never intrusive. By the way the local shops, doctors and chemist in Carna were excellent, we had need of them several times that week. Although we didn't travel much from the local area we thoroughly enjoyed getting to know this area of Connemara and hope to return in future.

Dara is a wonderful cottage in a magnificent area. We immediately fell in love with Connemara and its many dramatic vistas. The location of Dara could not be more perfect with beautiful views out of every window. Riona has done a magnificent job in totally and very tastefully refurbishing the cottage. It was fully equipped and immaculately clean. As others have noted, Riona is a warm and gracious host who spent quite a bit of time advising us where to go and what to see. We were fortunate to be there during their local festival and we could watch the rowing and sailing races from our patio. We really enjoyed day trips to Clifden, Galway, Kylmore Abbey, Inishmore in the Aran Islands, and just poking around this incredibly dramatic area. There is something about Connemara that grabs at your soul and Dara is an excellent base from which to explore the area.

Date of Stay: June 2012 We needed a week of peace and quiet away from the madding crowd and we couldn't have chosen better. Dara is a well-equipped, recently renovated, top-notch spacious house with its own sitting-out area overlooking the pier in a most beautiful part of Ireland. Days were spent doing scenic drives, poking around Clifden and wandering along the many sandy beaches in the area, getting the sea air in our lungs and just generally relaxing. Riona was a gracious hostess who gave us lots of info on where to go and what to do and nothing was too much trouble. We watched the tides come in, and go out. I watched the seabirds on the islands and rocks with my telescope, and chatted with the local cows. A veritable haven of tranquillity. The busiest activity that we saw there was the fishermen preparing their boats...We loved it - Very highly recommended.

We went to Riona's house for the New Year's holidays with my friends. There were nine of us. And all conditions of our stay was very good. All bedrooms were nice and clean, kitchen well equipped and large, living room was comfortable and cushioned. We especially enjoyed the fireplace. Our proprietor, Riona, was very kind to us. She told us about all interesting places we could visit in Ireland and asked to all our question about different stuff. Main thing about Riona, I think, is that she really cares. People in Ireland are also surprisingly kind and friendly. This country is really worth seeing. Thank you again for all, Riona) That was great!

Florian.

We stayed at Connemara following an extensive CIE tour of Ireland - and it was exactly what we needed. Not only was Rionna a superb and gracious hostess, Connemara offered us a view of Ireland not found on tours: incredible. The house was immaculate and very well-maintained, as well as having a history. Rionna was always helpful and full of great suggestions as to what the area offered. Can't recommend it enough. The walks around the property offered a view into Ireland's past and present: it was more than we could ask for in order to immerse ourselves in Irish heritage and the Ireland of today.

We just spent a week in Bru Na Mara, from 2nd to 9th of june. It was the first time we came in Conemara, and we were delighted with the location of the house and kindness and hospitality of Riona. She is really helpful and friendly, and can help about what is interesting to see or visit. The house is fully equipped and very comfortable, nothing is missing, and, after some days, I became "friend" with the dog... we came from France by car on the ferry, and had prepared our trip to see the most interesting things. In summary: Roundstone, Galway, Cliffs of Moher, Doolin and the pub with music (wonderful), Aran Islands (Achill Island is few interest to me, and forced to do a lot of road, except for Minaun Heights), Kylmore Abbey, Killary Harbour, the Sky Road, Cong, Westport, and all along the road, the scenery superb. Really, wonderful holidays with a fine weather, a lot of sun and few many showers.

It`s so hard to say about it in the past. We were in Ireland for the first time and fell in love with it at first sight and forever. Especially it concernes to Connemara and Bru na Mara. It was incredible to live on the shore of the ocean. We could walk there for hours and enjoy local landscapes. Then we returned to our cosy apartment and got heat from the turf fire...It may be spoken very many words about our trips around Connemara, but there are lot of them about Irish people. All the people we met here were so kind and friendly to us as if we were their friends for a long time. Especially it concernes to our proprietor Riona. She was kind and lovely womam, who told us many interresting things about Connemara and like a professional guide showed us places we `d need to visit. And we did it! Great thanks to Riona. Great thanks to Connemara! Hope to see you again. Oleg and Natalia.

For your first visit to Ireland, we arrived around midnight, in Carna and Riona was waiting for us. As we were interested by hiking, Riona kindly indicated several hikes for the 6 of us (4 teenagers + 2 adults). I think we finally did them all. We also has in learned from you hostess the best spots to visit between Galway and Letterfrack, including islands. We founded her help extremely useful. What else to say? House is pleasant and well adapted to Ireland, when you come come back wet wet wet from a hike... Easy to live also. The harbour is so close: it's just that easy to get fresh fish/seafood from fishermen when there are back form fishing. Sunrises where exceptional, as much as Irish people. All good.

Riona, best regards from the little window climber ;o)!

It is easy to go and visit Connemara from Bru na Mara with your car. Riona is a lovely lovely lovely and very helpful person. You will feel the soul of Irish people with her. Our family, consisting of two grandparents from the U.S., and daughter and son-in-law plus 18-month baby from Denmark, stayed the better part of a week at Dara Bru na Mara 3 and had a fantastic time. After driving for what seemed a long time along rustic country lanes, we arrived at this charming oasis, literally on the western edge of Ireland! Couldn't have been happier with our accommodations, a sprawling, comfortable home with a large kitchen and living room-dining room and master bedroom suite downstairs and two bedrooms and bath upstairs. Everything was clean and welcoming. And the owner, Riona, was the most welcoming host anybody could wish for. Since we were not exactly close to a grocery store (although the distance seemed to get smaller by each day), Riona had furnished us with a welcome bottle of wine plus breakfast foods for the first morning! In addition, she gave a literally professional introduction to the area, describing all points of interest. What a treat. Our grandson enjoyed the little beach and harbor adjoining the property, picking blackberries, petting cows, horses, donkeys, etc., and the adults enjoyed peace and quiet, long walks and relaxing evenings around the fireplace, for which Riona provided briquets each day. We would love to return some day, and have already recommended this gem to friends on either side of the Atlantic.

We spent one week in Bru Na Mara and it was simply... fabulous! The cottage is located near a very lovely and quiet pier, an ideal location to enjoy real Irish life and also an ideal starting point to visit the Connemara. The house is big, very clean, spacious, ideally furnished for a family. Riona – the owner – is a very lovely person, warm and welcoming, and her knowledge of the Connemara was of great help for not loosing time and go directly to the interesting places. Additionally, we had the chance to be there for the St MacDara’s festival, a one-day celebration characterized by traditional Galway hookers regattas, which was definitively the most marvelous day of our holidays, given that it was for us an incredible opportunity to spend a unique moment among Irish families.. Unforgettable! In few words: if you look for a house in Connemara, do not look for elsewhere, and go directly to Bru Na Mara, you will not regret it!

A lovely cottage in a complex of 4 houses, near carna in the west of connemra. It's a lovely place just in front of the sea, with calm and a small garden. It's perfect to explore the beautiful land of connemara with a car or for relaxing in a peacefully country. The owner is really very sympahtic and will help you to enjoy your holyday.

there were four of us in our party and we all were able to enjoy this beautiful and peaceful location. we sat and listened to the sound of the water lapping the rocks or within a 10 to 20 minute drive there was a bar/ hotel restuarant for some chat! i would throughly recommend this comfortable cottage one of our party has mobility disabilities so being all on one level was great, the owner is very helpful and offers a wealth of knowledge of the connermara area, we will be back!
