Casa de Paz is a jewel of a house in the heart of the colorful neighborhood of Colonia San Antonio. Located off Pila Seca, this enchanting house embraces you from the moment you enter the beautiful wooden door. There is WI FI for internet access. You find yourself in a plant-filled atrium with a rock garden filled with colorful flowers and a three tiered cascading waterfall pond. The tiled patio leads you into a small house with all kinds of interesting architectural details (pillars, arches, etc.). The first floor has a master bedroom with glass French doors that open to the Rock garden waterfall pond, making the bedroom seem like a large nature atrium. The second room on the first level functions as a study/bedroom with a desk and couch that pulls out to a single bed. There is a tiled bathroom and ample closet.
The second level is an open floor plan with lots of light that floods the interior space from a large beautifully tiled skylight. The open floor plan flows from the living room that has an adobe fireplace and a comfortable sofa (that pulls out to a double bed), to the dining area (table seats six), to the fully-equipped tiled kitchen. A second floor outdoor patio dining area overlooks the cascading waterfall rock garden below. This is a jewel for two people to relax after a day of sightseeing and absorb the magic and mystery of this step back in time city. It is comfortable, and inviting. A place to reflect and enjoy nature and soak up the wonderful culture of this neighborhood which is traditional Mexico.
A spiral staircase leads to a rooftop terrace that has a beautiful view of the Centro City and the Parroquoia (16th Century Church). There is also a half bath on the second level. It is a ten minute walk to the Jardin (the center of town).

My adult son and I stayed 10 nights at Casa de Paz. The listing description was accurate and the photos accurately reflected everything and we had everything we needed for our stay. Fernando met us at the Queretaro Airport on schedule and let us into the house as it was a Sunday afternoon. We talked with Pilar, the manager, to request a second set of keys which were delivered the next morning. The property was clean and Amada, the maid, was accommodating to our needs. Ariel Abramsky, owner, was helpful before our arrival and we had no problems. We have been to San Miguel many times and try out different rentals. As Casa de Paz is small, possibly when we return we would rent Ariel's other house on the same street as it is much more spacious, with washer/dryer, and not all that much more expensive. We did not see many foreigners there, I suppose because of the drug-related violence in Mexico reported by the media. But we had no fears in SMA. Thank you, ArielRecommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car.
Owner response: Hi Kathryn, So glad you had a good trip with your son. I am so happy you had such a positive experience at Casa de Paz. You are certainly a seasoned traveler to San Miguel, staying in many different areas so that your review means a lot! You also realize that San Miguel is safe. Many of my guests now are Canadian or European because they realize San Miguel is safe and beautiful and charming as it has always been. I hope you return to Casa de Paz or Casa Ariel!! Saludos, Ariel
