Escuintla estate description
Come and discover Finca El Zapote in Escuintla, Guatemala; what some people have called paradise on earth. Located on the slopes of the active Volcán de Fuego, it is the creation of a Norwegian pioneer and his wife, a famous Guatemalan artist. Together, they designed and planted 20 acres of Botanical Gardens. Exploring the gardens you will find a beautiful spring which feeds the natural swimming pool, the four lakes and an abundance of flora and fauna that make this place so spectacular, especially when the active Volcán de Fuego decides to put on a show. The farm has a long history of planting Quinine trees, which is used to cure malaria. It’s registered as a Private Nature Reserve, with conservation as a top priority. During your visit you will be able to participate in the following: walking in the gardens, Birdwatching, swimming in a natural pool, fishing in the lakes, rowing in a boat or kayak, enjoying lunch outdoors, or possibly a game of volley-ball! Here you will disconnect yourself from technology and the modern world, and feel connected with nature in all its beauty! If your stay is longer than 1 night, you can request at additional cost a Quinine Plantation Tour and Waterfall/River Trekking Tour.

Vacations in paradise!
Vacations in paradise!
We had the best time in this beautiful paradise. The gardens are breathtaking with endless activities for everyone. Great place to relax and enjoy nature. The volcano was having a spectacular show day and night. The meals and the cooks were excellent, we really felt at home away from home.

The landscape of this Finca is breathtaking, a must see for people who appreciate the peace and tranquility that nature produces in our souls. On one side you have the imponent presence of the Fuego Volcano and on the opposite you have 5 beautiful man made lagoons surrounded by extraordinary gardens. The house is simple, but has the feeling of a typical Guatemalan farm. The food is home made by three ladies that work there and they make you feel at home.

Future annual family tradition - Family of 16
"Dear Friends, I just got back from a weekend in Finca El Zapote. The place is spectacular. We ran, we swam, we socialized, we learnt, we fished, we cooked, we walked, we went beneath a waterfall, saw the quinine drying process, saw rivers without garbage, fished tilapia, swinged off ropes like tarzan, we slid down a hill, we didn't watch TV, didn't use cellphone, we had breakfast lunch and dinner as a family, we talked, listened, lived next to nature, and our hosts UNBEATABLE... thanks again to Finca El Zapote and Thomas L... We will surely make this an annual family tradition" "Mis estimados, acabo de regresar de un fin de semana en Finca El Zapote.
