Picture yourself and your family in this absolutely picturesque, private setting where you can take advantage of year round recreational opportunities or simply sit back and relax in a place of solitude with complete freedom from stress!

Located only six miles from the turn-off to the Big Sky Ski Resort, this wonderful property with a log cabin style main home, detached garage, and separate apartment backs up to National Forest and is situated 300 yards above the Gallatin River and its renowned fly-fishing.

The dramatic, natural beauty of Yellowstone Park is but a one-hour drive to the south as well.

The main home has fourteen rooms, to include five bedrooms and three bathrooms, and sleeps 10 easily, with a bunkroom for the kids and a wonderfully private Master suite. The main floor on the second level has an open design, with a beautiful stone fireplace perfect for those cold winter nights, and a fully equipped kitchen.

The first floor has a second sitting area with wood burning stove, a recreation room with games and a pool table, and laundry facilities. The first floor deck is completed by an outdoor hot tub, perfect for relaxing or getting ready for the next day's activities.

The detached, one car, heated garage has a fly tying bench, and space for everyone's skis. Over the garage is a private apartment with twin bed, full kitchen, and bath facilities.

Big Sky is a two-season resort, open in the winter from late November until mid-April and open in the summer from early June through early October. During these seasons, Big Sky's Mountain Village offers a variety of dining, shopping and services.

Outdoor activities that can be enjoyed any time of the year include tours of Yellowstone Park, viewing the local wildlife either on your own or with a guide, and fishing the trout streams in the area. Skiing at Big Sky in the winter is the ultimate experience, with 400 inches of annual snowfall and 85 miles of named runs, as well as lots of elbow room.

Slow down the pace by exploring the back-country on snowshoes or nordic skis. Memorable evenings are made at local guest ranches' sleigh rides. You can even go horseback riding or fly fishing in the winter.

In the summer, enjoy mountain biking, hiking, disc golf, or a scenic lift ride. Or, take to the rivers to go fly fishing or white-water rafting, go horseback riding in the mountains, golf at a challenging and scenic golf course, or enjoy a tennis match at the resort.

There are so many things to do in the Big Sky area, you'll have to stay at least a week!

  • I have really enjoyed visiting Montana and having Kildare as our home away from home for the past 4 summers. We have gone hiking at Lava Lake and Ousle Falls, horseback riding, whitewater rafting, cave exploring at Lewis and Clark Caverns, and bridge jumping off of the infamous “green bridge”. Yellowstone is only a short drive away and Glacier National Park is an awesome day or overnight trip. We have gone to a variety of places while on our vacations in Montana, but the best part about it all has been being able to come back to Kildare and just relax after a full day. If we wake up in the morning and don’t feel like doing anything that day except sitting on the large expansive wrap-around porch looking down on the river, then that is what we do. Looking out into the Gallatin forest early in the morning and catching a group of deer or elk strolling by to take a drink from the creek that runs down the side of the property is a beautiful way to start the day. The house has every amenity you can think of. The setup allows everyone to have their own privacy even if you are staying with a houseful of 10! We’ve had movie nights, pool tournaments, spa nights and highly competitive games of spoons! I’ve spent countless late night evenings sitting on the porch or at the dinner table with my family and friends talking about good times and the future. There is just something about this house and the atmosphere that allows you to forget about the rat race we are constantly surrounded by and to just let go and relax. I highly recommend this home for a fun, relaxing and restorative vacation. I hope to continue visiting with my family and friends for many years to come. No matter how many times we visit Kildare, it’s always a wonderful experience and one that my children will always remember in terms of family togetherness and summertime fun.   • For the first time in eight years our whole family was together at Christmas! We flew in from all parts of the world; Singapore; Allentown, PA; Longwood, FL; and Ft. Walton Beach, FL. The grandchildren (2 of which had NEVER seen snow) were thrilled at the beauty and couldn't resist making their first snow angel in the snow on the first night. The younger generation skiied daily from 9-4 and returned home tired, but exhilerated. We want to thank you for the opportunity to share your wonderful home. Everything was perfect.   • We just returned back from your lovely home. After spending a weeks reunion with our family, I must say that the twelve of us had plenty of room. We choose not to use the garage space and even with that had a wonderful time. We had a cue championship tournment as well as some hot tube time. The children enjoyed sledding down the drive. The vacation home was just as stated in the listing and more...Your homes hospitality so nicely furnished will be remembered for years to come. Thank you for sharing your place with us....

  • We had a absolutley delightful two weeks at Kildare. Five adults and two Bouvier puppys loved the house and especially the neighborhood which was much more private than on the mountain at Big Sky. Convenient to everything and a great facility to come back to at the end of the day. The views from the expansive deck are awesome and the great room very comfortable. The owners could not have been more accommodating and local support was great as well. Truly a memorable visit for all of us.
