Location:: Our two fency apartments are located right in the middle of the historical center of Berlin - almost at the Museums Island, the government and theatre area, 'Unter den Linden' - 5 min away from the next S/U-station Friedrichstraße and the Tram is directly around the corner.
We recommend to explore the beauty of the city by ship as well, starting point is app. 200 m apart. The building used to belong to the old Berlin Palace. Here lived the medical attendant and chambermaids of the German Emperor. You can still discover a lot of amazing history.
Our apartments are for everyone, who likes the idea of combining the great sprit of Berlin with a very special accommodation, like the idea of staying right in the cultural heart and travels.
SCHOLLE-petite is also excellent for every one who has business wise to stay in Berlin for a while, f. ex. in the Humboldt University. the Muesums or Theaters around.
Neighborhood & Infrastructure: Right next to the house is the brand new, architetectural intersting building of the library of the Humboldt-University. Therefore the crowd is a mixture of business people, students and tourists.
You will find the best infrastructure around like coffe-shops ('Pure Origins' is the best :), restaurants, frozen youghurts places, bagels, steak houses, pizzerias ...
For groceries you'll find very close a good and well organized EDEKA (open 18/7) in the station Friedrichstr. and a REWE. Also all kind of pharmacies and drug stores.
All touristic highlights are within walking distance. The Museums Isalnd and Opera are literally wround the corner.
Public Traffic:: Best connection to all means of public transportation:
Station Friedrichstrasse: to Potsdam and further directions, S+U Friedrichstrasse approx 250m (S1, S7, S75, S25, S3, U6), TRAM Friedrichstraße: M2, 12

I base my review on the guidelines as stated on the website. Was the listing description accurate regarding the location, layout, amenities, etc? - The listing description was completely accurate in terms of location and amenities. kitchen stocked with basic needs such as coffee, salt and pepper. Beware that charges for cleaning and linen are per person. There is a nice dining table to accommodate 6 for meals together. Lots of room for a big group. - The apartment could not be more centally located if you Mitte is your choice and allows all attractions can be reached by foot. As it is pretty touristy, you can be a bit disappointed with some of the nearby restaurants. Easy to get to from the airport and good access to public transport nearby. Was the property clean, was it well-maintained, etc? - Yes. Did the owner provide good customer service? Yes, but eventually no. - The owner was initially quite good at providing customer service, though some follow up on emails was required during the reservation process. However, we seemed to have hit a wall when we requested to vacate the apartment around midday on check out (as check in is meant to be at 4pm, we thought this was reasonable, at the time). Owner indicated that they try to be as flexible as possible and at the same time, informed me to "feel free to change plans" and book at a hotel to avoid problems of check-in/out, pointing out that check out time was just like a hotel (but it is a rental apartment?). This, after all the previous exchanges made through email, security deposits and time taken to make the booking. - lastly, our biggest problem was receiving our security deposit back, "promised" to be returned right at the end of our stay. This was NOT the case, and had to spend time following up and double checking with the owner. It was returned two weeks after we vacated and not without issues. - Communication exchanges changed from polite to rude towards the end. Would you recommend this property to a friend or relative? Yes and No. Yes for the property and NO for having to deal with an owner who thinks it is normal to be as rude and return money that is owed two weeks later. What would happen if renters did the same? In the end, one can find just as good apartments and deal with a better owner, have a pleasant stay and be sure not waste time chasing up money owed. I believe trust works both ways when it comes to rental properties.Owner response: First - thank you for the review. I like to add, that I am sorry that it took so long until you receive your deposit back. I wish I could have been able to do it earlier but I was not. As I told you from the beginning I was not provided with the necessary bank account details. What I finally received after pointing that out once again was a scan with unreadable bank information – which I told you immediately. I was been replied by you that you are on holiday and I would have to cope with it. Which I obviously not could. I wired the money the moment I received your bank account details. And yes, we are a family based business and not an hotel. You have the adventage to stay abolute central, almost at the Museums Island, in a nice spacious place and pay for 6 poeple what you easliy would have to pay for one double-room in an hotel just around the corner. We are very well frequented and some times departing and arrvial happen the very same day. In that case we have to start very puntual to prepare the place for the new guest because they expect the apartment to be ready in time. That means checkout is meant to me in time too. That was the case here. Once again - I am sorry, that I could not please your wishes here, but as you already have written: We try to be flexible. Some time it may work out other time we have not quiete a choice. After dozends of emails – I counted them (28!! not regarding the money but only the booking procedere) several phonecalls and we are talking about a booking over 2 nights – I felt like I had to admit that I don't appriciate the bossy demanding mistrustful tone of yours. Fair enough.

This first floor apartment was clean, comfortable and in a great location for exploring Berlin. The owner was very helpful and accommodating. It is a short walk to a central transportation station and thus conveniently located for everything Berlin has to offer. The street outside the apartment was quiet. Shopping and restaurants are within easy walking distance. I recommend this apartment to anyone, but especially to families.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

Do not hesitate to rent this apartment! We've had a lovely week there. We were two families, one with two children and the other with one child. The three bedrooms were perfect for our setup. Two of the bedrooms are separated from the kitchen/living room by a hallway closed with doors, which allowed the children (or the parents, for that matter) to sleep quietly. The whole apartment is decorated with taste. You can tell that the owner has lived there in the past. It is not anonymously filled with irrelevant objects. The kitchen suited all our needs. The owner should also mention that there is a very nice courtyard for children: you will find a huge sandbox filled with toys that the other owners kindly let us use. The supermarket Edeka is at a 5 minute walk in the Friedrichstrasse station. We had trouble finder a butcher and a fishmarket, but the owner, Katrin, told us where to find them. She answered all our questions and dealt with our difficulties. You will not find a more helpful and comprehensive owner. And as you can see on a map, you are next to the Museum Island, which is wonderful. The owner also has a deal with a bike renting shop nearby, which allowed us to travel everywhere in Berlin (Tiergarten, Prenzlauer Berg, Kreuzberg). And you will enjoy the beach chairs in front of the Spree and the Bode museum, which are close to the apartment. We spend a wonderful evening there watching tango dancers.Recommended for: Girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, families with teenagers.

I was initially hesitant about booking this flat because of the bad review it received, but it was so central and the perfect size for our group that we decided to risk it and am very glad that we did. I cannot understand where the previous complaints came from. The apartment is huge and beautifully decorated, it feels like you're staying in a boutique hotel but with the added benefits of your own kitchen, so it's more relaxed. Katrin, the owner was also very helpful in giving good local tips, although there is so much to see just outside the door (you are literally on the edge of museum island), that it's hard to go wrong. It also has a great coffee shop and restaurants nearby, as well as all the bars/shops near Friedrichstraße. We went as a family group and had a great time, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.Recommended for: Girls getaway, tourists without a car, sightseeing, families with teenagers.

although this is a large and nice apartment, I am giving a very poor rating. Among others: - not clean (you may have to do the laundry for the previous tenants) - poor heating/hot water (goes on and off) - major construction on site for 2009 - owner not reliable and not willing to meet basic requestsDid you find this review helpful? A group of us shared this great 3 bedroom (but lots of room for more - a couple of loft beds), 2 bathroom apartment so it was very inexpensive. We felt immediately at home. It is well furnished - everything we needed. It is just as it looks in the photos. And it is in a terrific location just behind Humbolt university, close to trains, trams and a block from all the great museums on museum island. We loved it.Did you find this review helpful? I am writing on behalf of the four of us, to thank you for allowing us to stay in your delightful apartment. We all agreed that the accommodation suited our needs perfectly, and was ideally situated for our purposes of sightseeing in your beautiful city. Our sincere thanks, also, for allowing our son, Anthony, to stay for a few nights. We loved Berlin, and are in full agreement, that if we ever get the opportunity to revisit, we would have no hesitation in doing so. The week passed by very quickly, but we managed to see a great many of the points of interest, including, as you know, a day trip to Potsdam. We would have no hesitation in recommending your apartment to any of our friends who were planning a trip to Berlin. Best regards PattieDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

the apartment is really nice. it is a huge typically berlin apt i would say. it is really special to live there, since typically no one seems to live there. only museums and galleries which makes it the most perfect location to start your berlindiscoverytours. i dont really know what to write, i just wanted to leave a nice comment since the last comment almost made me not going there. but i am really happy that i did. and i found the owners really nice. they helped us out whenever we needed tips for a good time in berlin. all the best from spain. lareRecommended for: Girls getaway, tourists without a car, sightseeing, families with young children.
