Vintage home built in 1900, named Captain's Quarters in memory of my late husband, Riverboat Captain Mark W. Peters, who piloted the paddlewheeler Hiawatha, on the Mississippi River and gave guided tours on Lake Pepin. This is how the 3 bedrooms came to be named. The Mississippi Room consists of a queen bed, electric fireplace and a private balcony. The Lake Pepin Room has a full size bed and electric fireplace. The Hiawatha Room features a full size bed and electric fireplace. All three bedrooms have ceiling fans. Robes, towels, a shower mat and an extra blanket has been conveniently placed in each bedroom closet. The bathroom has a walk-in shower and a free standing soaking tub. Kitchen is fully equipped with an eat in dinette and a breakfast counter. It also includes a full size refrigerator with ice maker, range, dishwasher, microwave, coffeemaker, toaster, mixer, slow cooker, and all the utensils and cookware needed for making a meal and eating in. The dining room features a round oak table, gas fireplace, and French doors that open to a wraparound deck which has a charcoal BBQ grill, table and chairs. Living room has a TV, with cable, Blu Ray/DVD Player, Wi-Fi. There is also a three season porch with board games, puzzles, books, electric fireplace, and VCR player, to watch those classic movies. Outside there is a small backyard patio and fire pit, bean bag toss game, and four vintage style bicycles available for your bike riding enjoyment. Enjoy the peace and quiet of a small town in a quiet neighborhood. Off street parking, forced air heat and central air, washer and dryer available. I also have home made complimentary treats for all my guests which makes this a perfect home to return to following a day of wine tasting at area wineries or a meal out at one of the restaurants. Your visit may be filled with antiquing, cruising aboard the Pearl of the Lake, visiting the National Eagle center, a day out on one of the many area golf courses or a winter's day of skiing followed by a cup of hot chocolate in front of the fire place, What ever your reason for visiting brings you our way, My goal at Captain's Quarters is to make you feel welcome, at home, comfortable and relaxed. I hope when you leave you take a new memory to add to your life journey.

Lake Pepin (Ohuta Park)
My vacation rental property was my first home purchased in 1987 by myself and late husband to raise our family. It is located in a quiet residential neighborhood, off the busy highways. We are located within a short walking distance of the downtown area; which has a wide selection of shops, eating establishments and bars. We are also located only minutes from the marina, the city's beautiful parks, and the exceptional lakeshore. If you are looking for a longer walk, with a view to boot; you can access the river walk. Starting downtown, the river walk extends north to south, following the breathtaking lake scenery along the entire walkway. Enjoy wine? Just a short drive away, try locally made wines at Lake Pepin Winery!
Year Purchased: 1987
About the owner: With the exception of a few years after High School graduation, I am a lifelong Lake City resident. I attended schools in the area and after completion of Post Secondary education, I worked in the health care system in Lake City for several years, before retiring in 2010. I continue to live here with my current husband, a long time Lake City resident enjoying retirement together.
Why the Owner Chose Lake City: This home was purchased by myself and my late husband, Mark in 1987. This was our hometown and we loved the area. Mark served in the U.S. Coast Guard and loved being on the water so it was only natural we remained close to the river and the lake. We made a decision to remain here to raise our two children.
The Unique Benefits at this House: The home mainly attracted us because it was affordable and we really looked forward to owning our first home. As time went on and the recession of the 80's hit we appreciated the fact that we had a home. We added our own touches to it. The main attraction for us was the location , the age of the house, its wood floors and the openness of the living room and dining room. The house is very old but exudes a feeling of warmth. I have opted to accent it with vintage and antique items some from childhood, others found through my passion for collecting. When I'm not sharing my home with others it is often used by myself and adult children for reminiscing.
