About the owner: I have lived in the Cuchara area since approximately 1988. I graduated from school in Walsenburg, and was management back in the days of Cuchara Mountain Resort. Since it's closing in 2000, I have been a business owner in Cuchara doing home repair/renovations and for the last 8 years the owner of Cuchara Cabin and Condo Rentals. In mentioning my company, I do personally own the cabin listed.
Why the Owner Chose Cuchara: There was no way to pass this cabin up! I've always had an interest in the older mountain style homes. My taste is the rustic, log look and this cabin just had a certain charm to it when walking in the door for the first time.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin: The cabin does sit in what us locals call the Parkway, which was once the Cuchara Camps back in the late 1800's/early 1900's, which sits just across the highway from the Cuchara Village. This allows you to be within walking distance of most local attractions. The cabin itself has a certain charm to it... from the original windows cut to match the shape of the logs, to the original wood floors, then add all the modern conveniences.
