Taos apartment description
Casa Flora is a complete little two room apartment just off Taos Plaza and close to everything Taos offers.
Enter through a brick courtyard lined with summer blooming flowers and outdoor seating area for an evening glass of wine or a morning cup of coffee.
Casa Flora has a living room/kitchen which is comfortable and inviting. The kitchen is well equipped for at home dining. The living room sofa is a double hideabed for two additional guests or children. The room is heated with a gas log stove and the skylight offers wonderful Taos light.
The bedroom features a queen bed with premium bedding, good reading lights cozy robes, and charming gas log stove.
The full bath has a tiled shower and plenty of towels and bath supplies. Leave your hair dryer at home.
Casa Flora is located in an adobe building built in the 1880's and has wooden floors, hand hewn beamed viga ceilings and many multi paned operable windows. 14' thick adobe walls assure winter warmth and summer coolness.
Casa Flora is furnished with antiques, original Taos art from some of our exceptional artists and my sense of whimsy throughout.

Enchanting Casa Flora
Enchanting Casa Flora
We stopped through Taos on our way home from CO and wanted to stay in a central location and this was as good as it gets. The plaza was literally across the street, and everything downtown was a skip away. We were lucky that Melissa the owner accommodated us last minute. Casa Flora embodied the magic of this special town. From the original detail of the structure and the owners extensive emporium of antique treasures, Casa Flora is exactly what we imagined! The casita was generously stocked with linens and towels. The bed was probably one of the most comfortable I've ever slept on! Even though we didn't get to use the kitchen, it was stocked with the basic necessities and some sweet extras like coffee, sugar, and spices. The kitchen was very cute and we appreciated having the option. Overall we really enjoyed our first visit to Taos and hope to come back soon. Hopefully during the Spring or Summer to view the gardens in all there glory. I would definitely recommend Casa Flora to couples looking for a romantic holiday or a couple of friends looking for some enchantment.

Owner response: Thanks so much Denise for your review. I so enjoyed meeting the two of you and our chats. Do come back in the summer when my courtyard is over the top! Take care of that lucky little lucky red cat Tony and so glad you liked Casa Flora,my newest apartment. You are my first review.

About the owner: I moved here from Marin County California in 2005. I wanted a simpler life in a small town and have found my niche in Taos. I have a shop (right in front of Casa Flora) called Red Cat Melissiana with lingerie, gifts and a flower shop (hence Casa Flora...) I serve on a number of Board of Directors and still find time to landscape much of downtown Taos. I love sharing information about this wonderful town with my many guests. I actually own a total of six vacation rentals in Taos. Everything from two little downtown apartments to two and three bedroom homes. All are special and decorated in a very 'Melissiana' style Many of my guests comment that they are what they always thought Taos should be...
Why the Owner Chose Taos:
Some women collect shoes, some collect shoes. I seem to collect houses. I love to furnish, decorate, equip and manage these spaces as vacation rentals. I consider myself 'The Vacation Rental Queen of Taos' I had finished my last project--two homes right downtown on a property that had been in foreclosure for two years. Now it will be on the Home & Garden Tour this summer! Quite a compliment to my style...I needed a new project and decided to turn the back two rooms of my shop into another rental. It's just so much fun!
The Unique Benefits at this Apartment:
Casa Flora is quiet and private. There is room for a couple to stretch out, enjoy, cook at home, but outside the front door is everything downtown Taos with shops, galleries, museums and a dozen restaurants within walking distance. There is even free overnight parking right across the street.
