Three Sisters was the perfect location for a "Girls' Getaway". My college friends meet annually at a different location to renew friendships and catch up on each other's lives. We have been doing this for 20+ years and Three Sisters was the most accomodating, friendly, beautiful and fun location we have ever encountered. It allows privacy, if you want it.....as well as a beautiful "Maine" house where all can congregate for coffee, cooking, laughing or whatever.... THREE SISTERS IS THE BEST!!!!!!

My new husband and I booked the Three Sisters for a family getaway, inviting 18 family members to meet us in Dexter for some fun, relaxation, and a wedding, which we held on the property. While it was a long drive for our guests from Ontario, once they reached the property everyone thought that the trip was more than worthwhile. This property is even more beautiful than we could have imagined. It has beautiful wood features and cottage touches with modern amenities thrown in (wireless internet, satellite TV, dishwasher, washer/dryer). The gathering room in the Maine House is enormous and easily allowed for a simple reception meal after our wedding ceremony (which was conducted outside beside the lake). The other two houses are also lovely. With three different meeting areas, our guests were able to spread out and have both together and alone time. The deck is also huge with beautiful views of the lake. We spent most nights sitting out on the deck enjoying the gorgeous sunsets and then making our way down to the bonfire pit beside the Lake House where we made smores and enjoyed the calls of the loons. Surprisingly, the bugs at night (and during the day) were scarce. The lake is extremely clean and was a pleasure to swim and play in. We rented a couple of boats from a local rental shop and skied, tubed, and fished all week. We also took a couple of trips by water to the local seafood shack which is located on the smaller side of the lake. We all piled into the small fishing boat, the canoe, the kayaks, and paddle boats and enjoyed a yummy dinner and ice cream on the water. On the way back, the lake was usually calm and it was awesome to experience the sunset from the water. As other reviewers have noted, Dexter is small but has all needed amenities. Bud's Shop & Save is great, as well as Reny's. Guests could easily purchase forgotten items in town and be back to the cottage in about 15 minutes. We took a single day trip up to Millinocket to go white water rafting with Three Rivers Outpost on the Penobscot river. IT WAS UNBELIEVABLY FUN!!! While there were a few Class V rapids, we all felt safe and had a great daylong excursion. The river also afforded great views of Mount Katahdin. Needless to say the end of the week came much too quickly. Hopefully we will be able to return to the Three Sisters for another family vacation in the future (maybe for our 10 year wedding anniversary). Thanks for renting your beautiful property!

Fabulous place to stay for families of all ages! There were 19 of us and we never felt crowded. Kids (and the young at heart) were swimming, canoeing, kayaking and playing tennis & soccer all week long. Sunsets over the lake are beautiful and the sound of the loons at night is magical. We took a short (20 minute) road trip to Dover-Foxcroft for the annual Whoopie Pie Festival and experienced a true slice of Americana along with the Whoopie Pies! Another jaunt was to Moosehead Lake in Greenville. It's only 45 minutes away and worth the drive. However, it is hard to leave the 3 Sisters because there is os much to do there and it is so comfortable! All of our material needs were easily met in the local stores of Dexter: Bud's (groceries) Reny's (everything--and I mean everything--talk about another slice of Americana) and a Rite-Aid. After hearing about the trip and seeing the photos, many of my friends are interested in gathering their families in Maine. I do not hestitate to recommend it to anyone!

Our week at Three Sisters fulfilled all of our expectations. Considering the fact that our group consisted of individuals ranging in age from 5 months to 83 years with equally diverse interests, that is saying a great deal. Even the weather cooperated. The fact that our large group of family members and friends could spread out over three separate and distinct houses was a godsend. The property's location provided lots of privacy for our group, while at the same time giving easy access to the town of Dexter, where we found the Shop 'n' Save well-stocked for our normal grocery needs as well as offering Maine specialties like lobsters. We also found TJ's restaurant (that used to be called Giovanni's and which is on the far side of town)--a nice place for a large group to have a decent dinner. Three Sisters' scenic lakefront setting with its dock and swimming platform--as well as the the kayaks, paddle boat and small electric motor boat that were provided--made the lake not only accessible to the swimmers in our group, but also the nature watchers (loons, eagles, otters, ducks, etc.), anglers, and boatsmen. Some of us also used the property as our base to hike one of the mountains near Moosehead Lake, others to ferry out to an island at Moosehead/Greenville, and still others to explore the very small town of Dexter--both its past (Grist Mill and Abbott Museums, the Maple Street and 1843 cemeteries, the abandoned Dexter Shoe factory, etc.) as well as its present (Reny's, the Abbott library, Bingo on Wednesday night at the American Legion, the redemption center for recyclables, etc.). (If you decide to try your hand at Bingo on Wednesday at the American Legion or on Friday at the Knights of Columbus, be sure to avail yourselves of the dabbers that we left in the Maine house for future guests!) Our two campfires at the campfire ring near the Lake House--which included the mandatory hot dogs, corn grilled in its husk, smores, and watermelon as well as the campfire songs to create the atmosphere--were also definite highlights of our stay. And as an aside, we found the owners and their maintenance person very attentive to our needs and concerns. I am sure that all 18 of us have taken home memories from Three Sisters that will last for many, many years if not for a lifetime.

My family had the best vacation ever this summer...we truly did not want it to end. My first thought as I arrived and strolled the property and toured the homes was that the posted pictures truly do not do this place justice. You must see it to appreciate its beauty and the love that has been put into this place. My teenagers had the best time taking the boat out on the lake and just had fun hanging out...going into town...and seeing the local sights. The owners have thought of everything to make your stay carefree and enjoyable. The boats are waiting for you feet away, the hammock is perfect for an afternoon nap, grill is ready for your favorite steaks (or seafood!), lifejackets, floating pier, tennis courts, game tables, even a baby crib and stroller if you need it! I did not even mention the view! Perfect. Even the Maine night sky gave you billions of stars to enjoy. Great local restaurants are minutes away as well as cute shops in town. I would highly recommend this resort and would go back the first chance I get!

Six families and all our kids had plenty of room to enjoy the crystal clear lake and everything the compound had to offer. Houses and large yard were very clean and spacious. Enjoyed using the kayaks, motorized canoe, tennis court, and horseshoe pit. Kitchens are well equipped with everything we needed to cook in. Plenty of room in the main house living area for all of us to hang out and enjoy the sunsets. Thank you!

Our children and grandchildren wanted to learn about their "roots", so we took them back to Maine. The "Three Sisters" property was the ideal location for our three daughters and their families. Everyone enjoyed the crystal clear water in the lake, use of the kayaks and canoes, and playing pickleball on the tennis court. We even hosted a family reunion during our 2 week stay, so the kids could meet all their cousins. Everyone agreed that this was the best reunion ever, because the location was just perfect! The sunsets were fantastic!

What a wonderful getaway! We enjoyed every minute of our stay. The homes are beautiful. There are several boats... kayaks, paddle boat, canoe... to explore the beautiful and very clean lake. Our days were warm enough to play on (and in) the lake and the nights cool enough to roast marshmellows in the fire pit. We enjoyed strolling into town and shopping at Reny's. The kids enjoyed the nearby playground. Wonderful place for a large group to get together!

What an absolutely wonderful week at the lake. Thanks to the both of you for putting together such a classy and relaxing rental property. Everyone that stayed during our week wants to return in a year or two. My wife spent some time in the Dexter museum. She told the women that we were from the San Francisco area and the women said that she had heard that we were in town. I guess good news travels fast.

This was an ideal location for our large, extended family to meet for an idyllic vacation together. We spent most of our time enjoying the lake and compound but also made easy day-trips to Bar Harbor and the fabulous Moosehead Lake. The days were warm...the nights were cool and the living was easy. I highly recommend it.

This is a great property. Very clean - very modern - very well supplied with the kitchen things you need, etc. The lake is beautiful - and the yard is nice and big for wiffleball, etc. I've stayed here twice and had a great time both times - highly recommended.

Beautiful private grounds, clean lake, kayaking, loons, campfires--it was a wonderful week. The kids played non-stop in the water. Warm days & cool evenings with a velvet sky filled with stars. Town is near enough for quick trips for supplies, then back to paradise!
