Lovely, stone farmhouse previously used as dairy farm outside the charming medieval village of Lierganes. This house was completely remodeled 5 years ago by owner/builder and includes all modern amenities as described below.

The two-story home boasts an open floor plan, high ceilings, custom fireplace, master suite with private bath and walk-in closet, while still conserving many of the original architectural elements that make these "cabanas pasiegas" so typical in the region of Cantabria. Take in the fabulous views of ocean and surrounding mountains while lounging on the master bedroom, stone balcony or relaxing over a Spanish dinner on the private terrace with barbecue overlooking the five acres of private pasture land.

Go hiking, horseback riding, or trout fishing in the neighboring hills or head down to the village of Lierganes, only three kilometers away, to take in the history and charm of a well preserved stone village that offers several good restaurants, cafes, nightlife, and a recently remodeled turn of the century spa facility. Take the commuter train (45 minutes) or drive (about 20 minutes) in to the capital city Santander and enjoy shopping, seafood, fabulous beaches, a world renown international music festival in July and August, as well as various museums. Spend the day in Bilbao (45 minutes by car) and visit the world renown Guggenheim museum. Drive to any one of the spectacular beaches within a half hour and spend the day sunbathing or enjoying water sports. This is the perfect property for enjoying all these activities, or just rest and relax at home by the fireplace with a great Spanish wine.

  • My wife and I stayed in this lovely house for one week in July. The online photos do not do the house justice. Rustic on the outside modern and convenient on the inside. A modern kitchen and two and a half bathrooms makes the house very comfortable. The mountain views from this house are stunning and you can see the ocean from the front door. Beautiful walks can easily be taken from this house about 1 1/2 kilometers from the center of lovely Lierganes which is a wonderful little town with many dining options. Some of the finest cheeses in the world come out of this area. And great wine at cheap prices. An easy day trip to Bilbao, San Sebastian/Donestia, Santilla Del Mar, Comillas, Santander, Picos de Europa make this an ideal location. We can't say enough nice things about this place.   • I wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed staying at your house in July. The house is charming and the countryside is spectacular. It is a beautiful part of Spain, so different than the other places I have been there. We did a short hike around the little town of Lierganes, had some of their delicious local cheese, and made it to dinner at La Tienda de Pedro Garcia in Solares on our last night. That was fun. The whole experience was a highlight of our trip.
