Casetta Mataross was one of the old farmhouses, which are scattered all over the slopes at a few hundred meters above lake-level. It overlooks Lake Como and the mountains.
The local rural population, not even so long ago, brought their animals, like sheep and goats up the mountains for grazing during the summer. The small house " Mataross" where the farmer stayed for the summer to watch over the animals, has now been transformed in a lovely little cottage. It has completely been renovated and is nicely and accurately furnished and equipped up to modern standards.
It is surrounded by a very large terraced garden (3000 m2)( not so suitable for very young children) where from every corner you have an unspoilt splendid view over the lake up to the far snow-capped mountains. Not far from the casetta is the main house, where the owners may stay over the weekend.
The nearest village on the lake side is Pianello del Lario. A good narrow road winds through the forests and meadows for approximately. 2.7 kilometers before you reach the house. It is less than ten minutes by car, also a good footpath takes you in 20 minutes down the hill to the shore.
Casa Mataross (70 m2) is a fenced property with car parking inside the gate. On the main floor is a spacious terrace with dining table and deckchairs, living room with satellite TV. An open fully-equipped kitchen corner. Thre are two double bedrooms each with adjoining bathroom with shower. Barbecue area, central heating.
The house has lots of large windows from where an "overall" splendid view. You will like it! This is a place for a quiet holiday, for those who like walking and hiking. The mountains are full of walking tracks taking you up to the meadows and mountain tops. The lake being away only ten minutes makes the house a pleasant home for a varied holiday.
Pianello del Lario has a strip of sandy beach, pleasure harbour, sailing-surfing school, a few good restaurants and small supermarket. For extensive shopping you depend on Dongo (three kilometers) or Menaggio (ten kilometers) . The town Como is (40 kilometers), Milan (80 kilometers), Lugano (40 kilometers) are worth a day trip, so is St. Moritz the beautiful resort in the Swiss Alps.
